President should have tell the ECOWAS community to wait for him to discuss with some stage governors right? Whatever ECOWAS resolution is, it is not Tinubu's personal/single decision.
Stop being stupid. Even the US before declaration of war does consultations. Make una get some sense, yes he has to meet with them first because they are the ones that would feel the impact of that war if it happens. You must simulate likely scenarios before making any decision that is wisdom.

Gajagojo:
What is it that has happened that should not have happened before this consultation?

Some of you are so bitter about the election loss you have lost all reason

What is the disaster? You use all this childish and emotive language without any understanding of what is going on

Medicine after disaster> What disaster?
See the worst thing you can do is eye service and not speaking the truth. That is why most of you are so senseless and daft, you allow tribalism to make you reason lower than toddlers.
If Tinubu was wise enough he should have done this meeting first before even going ahead with his planned military action in Niger or even cutting off power in Niger. We all know that the border of Niger is largely porous and 1,608km long and straddles 7 northern states any war with Niger will create a refugee crisis in these states and mind you, Niger has been key in reducing the impact of terrorist attacks from ISWAP and BH.
Any war with Niger will spell disaster for us, and.mind you economically we are down so funding a war will be a challenge. See we are not bitter about election loss, but we need to tell the truth to power, not everything should be viewed in a tribalistic prism like you are doing. This was the same nonsense you guys did in Buhari's regime because of eye service none of you could speak the truth

Kudos to the president, may God grant him the needed wisdom to handle this challenge successfully. As for the enemies, you will be consumed by your hatred.
This is just medicine after disaster. Thos consultation should have happened first. Typical example of putting the cart before the horse.

IMF is not the S and P, and both bodies disagree.

Recently Fitch (an organization similar to S and P) downgraded the USA's economy by a few pluses. As far as the IMF is concerned the USA is in good health.

Even then, this rating just means Nigeria might be ready for business, it does not mean we have a great economy.
This we are in agreement

nairalanda1:
Well, the S and P is not the IMF.

IMF ratings look at the whole country, S and P, (and Fitch and Forbes) look at a country's readiness for business.

At the end, like I always say, inspite of the rating, Nigeria is not going to have a stable economy until we get away from being dependent on oil. It is that simple.
Now do you know the Irony S&P is an American company. So you see the game being played here

Typical Obidient, you accepted the bad news, & rejected the good projection just to justify your hate for your country?
Are you for real? You are fantastically stupid walahi. Why would I wish bad on my country, the decline that they gave as Nigeria's position when compared with South Africa and Morocco reflected the true state of things the purchasing power of the average Nigerian has declined and the GDP of the country has crashed. Companies are closing up GSK is ceasing Operations and MNOs are either recording slide in revenues and incomes or recording losses due to a poorly thought out subsidy removal and FX policies. So if you see a report that really shows the reality of your situation wouldn't you accept it and work to change it? But for you guys anyone that accepts a true report is an enemy of Nigeria.
You guys are the real enemy of Nigeria, you would rather the country goes up in flames that see anything wrong with what the preaidentmis doing because he is from your Tribe.
You guys really need to be flogged every morning until you have sense

Politics › Re: Nigeria’s Outlook Raised To Stable By S&P On Tinubu’s Reforms by obyno82: 8:23pm On Aug 06, 2023
nairalanda1:
Reason why the West is giving us stable outlook has a lot to do with removal of subsidy...and crucially, Government no longer controlling the price of fuel. (In case you have not noticed, the DPR is no longer going round checking to see if petrol stations have set the right government price).

The anticiplation is that since prices are no longer set for petrol, this would attract a lot of investment into the country's petroleum sector.

Also, since subsidy is gone, government would be better able to meet our debt obligations, which puts us in good standing with the global economy. Also, we no longer run the risk of increasing our debt by growing deficits to find cash for the subsidy.

But at the end, we are not where we are supposed to be. We still have a LOT of work to do. And I still am looking at the APC government with one kind eye.
Oga noooooo it has nothing to do with subsidy. Three weeks back the same West predicted a decline in Nigeria's economy while predicting growth in South Africa and Morocco's economy, and guess what was used to predict the slide, it was subsidy, IMF criticised how the subsidy was removed and the fact that palliative will not achieve the desired cushioning effect. All of a suddennin the heat of the Niger crisis you are now giv8ng stable outlook and using the same reason upu criticised earlier. If you can not see rhe baiting going on then you are really blind walahi.

This news is a bad news for some people

There is a point where you set boundaries. I ask myself sincerely, if Obi or atiku had won the election against my own candidate, will I wish Nigeria downfall because my candidate did not win. The answer is a big no! I would wish the country succeed no matter what.
Even some northerners that voted Atiku who came second have long moved and everyday they wish Nigeria to be great.
I have northern friends who voted atiku and have long moved on.
But some people wish is either Obi wins or Nigeria fails! What kind of human are you. Ask yourself sincerely if the universe will ever be good to your kind.
You guys don't have sense walahi. Let me refresh your memory, before the Niger's coup, IMF predicted Nigeria's economy would decline from 2023 to 2025, now all of a sudden because of the coup and to give incentive to Nigeria to use Military intervention in Niger, they are now giving Nigeria a stable economic outlook. Make una get small sense naaa and see when you are being baited by the west, if Tinubu says no, just watch how negative economic outlook will be put by the same West.

By the way, this news is for Nigerians and not Biaflans.

Biaflans get mad at any positive news about Nigeria. If you had rejoice over this news, it would have been the tenth wonder of this world.
Bros stop being dense. This is Western propaganda. Were we not here when IMF gave Nigeria's outlook prediction that the economy would decline from 2023 to 2025. This was before Niger coup, all of a sudden his policies are now giving Nigeria a stable outlook. This is just to bait Tinubu to use military intervention. I can bet you that of Tinuhu doesn't follow through and the military guys remain, you will see them change the outlook on Nigeria.

However:

1. ECOWAS and African Union are the ones that gave the coupist an ultimatum, NOT Tinubu.

2. Russia is not supporting the coup.
Russia won't trade Niger republic for better and bigger African countries.

3. African Union are also against the coup. Encouraging coupist will ensure military takes over their own fragile goverment too.

ECOWAS (and not Tinubu) wants to carry out military action in Niger republic.

There are 15 countries in ECOWAS and only 2 are in support of the coup. The 2 are countries ruled by military junta as well (Burkina faso and Mali).

African Union also gave The coupist an ultimatum.

Africa's democracy is too fragile to let coupists take over the continent.
So why is Tinubu muting military action then.

My brother u see politics is deep
Oga I agree politics is deep. In world war 2 the US allowed the mafia and didn't arrest them because rhey were using them to guard the docks against German spies coming ashore. Tinubu was already in court by 1992 when he made that forfeiture by the time they were to do the sentencing, June 12 crisis was already there and he was funding NADECO so the US saw a useful tool and turned a nlind eye that was why the judgement was reserved. You think the CIA didn't know that Tinubu will become useful soon?

Detailed explanation.

These you've stated and many more should have been put into consideration by the FG. I don't think they will just invade and come out without having plans for the fall-out before, during and after the invasion.

But this should be the 4th Coup in less than 3 years if I'm not mistaken and it will only continue if it's not stopped.
Oga you really put these guys in FG on a pedestal these guys did not factor any shit. This is just Tinubu in his quest for legitimacy. If he declares war according to the constitution he cannot be removed, he know this that is why he is hell bent on military intervention.
