No big deal. At times, as a defendant you don’t have to present any evidence or call witnesses.
It’s incumbent on Obi the petitioner to provide unimpeachable evidence that he won. Shikena

It might be a better strategy to let the case be decided only on evidence provided by petitioner. So far no smoking gun or evidence of massive rigging has been presented before the judges

With the 10,000 PUs, it’s just about 900k accredited votes casted. This will make no difference in the results. Also if canceled, it will affect all parties.

To erase Tinubu’s, huge lead of 2.1m vs Atiku or 2.8m vs Obi, results of over 70k PUs must be canceled. This of course depends on which states the over voting occurred.

Elections are about numbers. Atiku & Obi just wasting time with their petty petitions.

Just a natural reaction to a catastrophic loss. Obi's ability to win the presidency was overestimated, hence stunned and dazed reactions from his obidients.

In the coming days and weeks, mentions of Obi will gradually diminish. His obidient movement will fizzle out as the Jagaban slowly consolidates power. By swearing-in day, the word obedient will be nothing more than a footnote in this election.

2027 is only 4 yrs away. Obi should begin preparation for Presidency today if he wants to run. Tiniubu is now in charge as he's the new sheriff in town. Even Buhari is now a lame duck and will have to run things through Tinubu. This is how democracy works

It is kind of the fault of our education system and the way the economy is set up

Educated people leave the villages and head out into the cities to look for work and other opportunitues. This leaves those who cannot leave because they are not educated enough.

The main parties build their structures and their support on the people left behind. And since these are the people that the villagers see...not the educated man in the city that may come home once in a year or sometimes in years....they win elections for their main parties.

I don't like it when people call them illiterates for voting APC and PDP.(I reiterate that that is a mistake...something that the Democrats learned the hard way in 2015, and even still make, and something seen to some extent in the UK). APC and PDP are sadly the only parties that at least give a damm. LP? Lord knows I used to live in the North. LP is not to be seen anywhere in the rural areas. If LP at least did some mobilization and came with some ideas that suit the rural areas, or even some of the educated people came home and ran for councillor, and suchlike, or even engaged in local activisim so that people could eventually see that APC and PDP are fake parties who just want power...maybe things might change. But it is hard work, and most of us educated people ain't got time.

LP is also not above using tribe and religion to to woo voters...plus a lot of the educated vote for all three parties on tribal and religious grounds.

At the end, politics in Nigeria is not about issues. I don't consider Atiku, Tinubu or Obi have anything new for Nigerians. At the end, they would just do what has been done year in, year out;;;;over subsidise, take loans to cover the deficit, find jobs for the boys and girls, and the rest of us will complain and grumble as we always do about 'corruption' and look for the next 'hero'.

Very accurate analysis on the political landscape. Politics is all grassroots. Shouting on social media or urban areas will not work.

Even if Peter Obi gets 3 million votes in Lagos, it's a game-changer! Lagos, with over 7 million voters, has never done more than 2 million before. It makes no sense.

This is a campaign to wake up the sleeping giant! Everyone must come out and vote on Saturday. Nobody should be playing football while our inferiors use our country to play ping-pong because we let them. APC making Bola Tinubu their presidential candidate is an insult taken too far!

The turnout is projected at 41%, which means 2.9 million of the 7 million will actually vote. So do the math and figure things out. Learn about voting patterns and numbers before making asinine statements. Numbers win elections not emotion. Your heart may give Obi 3 million votes but it's still an uphill task for him to get 1 million votes in Lagos. FACT

For Tinubu, the goal is to ensure Obi can’t run up the numbers and to reduce Atiku’s vote. With a voter rich state like Rivers, 17% - 18% for Tinubu is ideal. That way Obi can’t secure more than 45% and Atiku 35%. Rivers is not an Apc stronghold so the strategy is just to depress numbers for Obi & Atiku. Same approach for Delta (2nd highest in SS). Cross Rivers and Akwa
Ibom will be a 3 way battle. Not sure about Bayelsa.

Obi will run up huge numbers (70%) in SE, but no big deal.

The redesign is not the problem; it’s the implementation. Changing a currency is common practice. Generally, the old currency can be legal tender for up to 2yrs. This stupid attempt to stop acceptance in 3 months is causing untold hardship for the people. Why not allow up to 1 year before the old currency expires. This draconian act just to punish certain politicians is unacceptable. And with scarcity of Naira, vote buying more even flourish more

Besides changing a currency confers no economic advantage. It’s simply an administrative action to Obi with this statement just shower his mediocrity on how the economy works. He’s only thinking of the advantage for his not the effect it’s having on people

You see, believe it or not, it's true the masses are momentarily affected by this policy, the truth remains that corrupt politicians were targeted, and they are still the one to suffer great loss in the long run.

History has shown that Nigerian Legislature has NEVER cared about the masses, so this their cries for the suspension of the new Naira policy is because they know it'll affect them, not that they care for the masses!

This is a battle for the soul of Nigeria, especially as it concerns the economy. If we can be patient with CBN, ordinary Nigerians will win! Remember, If you fight corruption, corruption will definitely fight back. Corrupt politicians are fighting hard against this CBN policy.

Above all, I beg you all, get your PVC and vote out the OLD ORDER and let's birth a New Nigeria.
Together We Can!
Our Mumu Don Do!!!!!

Currency redesign is an economic policy tool and Its goal must be to support economic activities. Redesigning the Naira, at this time just to target certain politicians is doomed to fail. The masses will suffer and bear the brunt. And we're seeing the effects. Why not make the old notes acceptable legal tender till the end of the year? What's the rush for the Feb 10 deadline? This is a case of cutting off your nose to spite your face.

Is it right for the CBN to inflict pain on people in this manner to stop certain politicians? The greater good is to ensure uninterrupted daily economic activities for the people.

Even PDP lawyers saw the over voting and they couldn't challenge it. You know figures are factual.

Recall in 2003 presidential election, our highly referred Holy Angel Baba Obasanjo in his bid to return to power by force masterminded over voting in Ogun State to the extent that the votes were more than the registered voters in the state.

The Tribunal was overwhelmed to the point that about 65% of the polling units in the state recorded over voting. Buhari challenged him at the tribunal and the Tribunal cancelled Ogun State presidential results and it was deducted from the total results. It affected all the contestants.

So, it's not new. Adeleke himself knew that there were over voting in his strongholds. The new electoral law doesn't allow for rerun in such polling unit (s) but outright cancellation which is unfortunate for PDP.

So, even if Atiku win, he cannot change the law.

Lastly, don't forget that Tribunal is part of Electoral Process. Victory is not complete until all the processes are completed including Court/Tribunal.

While PDP was jubilating everywhere, APC was busy studying the results.

And people should accept the verdicts of the electoral tribunals; and if not satisfied appeal. Factual evidence of over voting was presented and the judges acted according to the law.

Sentimental and emotional apportioning blames to Apc or Tinubu shows lots of Nigerians still not clear how democracy works

I've always compared India to Nigeria although Indians are more disciplined than Nigerians.

Visit all the firms in a random boulevard at Silicon Valley, 8 out of 10 will be managed by Indians. Most heads of Fortune 500 companies are Indians. They dominate medical practice in many Western Countries. India's generation Z outperform Western students in STEM courses in IVY leagues.

An Indian is the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom and many Indians have prominent roles in US, UK and Canadian governments.

Visit Mumbai in India and all you see is a "dirtier Lagos" . The bulk of Indians live in poverty and cannot afford the basic necessities of life. Those in rural communities in India have it worse.

It isn't political corruption. India's Prime minister, Narendra Modi has no child. He is a divorcee for decades with only books and writings to his name. When he dies, he will be cremated and his ashes may be thrown into water. Atal Vajpayee had no biological child too. So the argument of stolen resources cannot be logically raised.

Like Nigeria, India is still buried in religious superstition.
Like Nigeria, India has a worse tribalistic and caste system.
Like Nigeria, half of India has not been penetrated by rational thinking.
Like Nigeria, the part of India near Pakistan is home to some of the most vicious islamists on the planet.

The best we can have are people with a Messiah complex who build cult followings during election periods in Nigeria. The very fact that millions of people believe that a messiah can make this system evolve in a couple of years is the very proof that we're still far from that Utopian society we envisage.

Denmark, Norway, Switzerland, Belgium and UAE are heavens on Earth. However, they are not as powerful nor do they have more USD billionaires than India combined.

The richest black men in the Planet can only be Nigerians.

Nigeria is the India of Africa. Nigerians will always excel at home and abroad.

If you love yourself as a Nigerian grin, work diligently for a better life and you will lift your name, your family and Nigeria wherever you find yourself. That's what the intelligent Indians do. That's what the few intelligent Nigerians do.

We will only experience a beautiful environment with an amazing system when the bulk of Nigerians have more developed patterns of thinking than the early men.

“people with a Messiah complex”. The correct phrase about this election. Non of the candidates will change anything but people keep chanting Obi to bring that transformation.

And even with all the mantra about change young people participation is very low. Of the over 80 million Nigerians between 18 - 39 yrs, just 32 million are registered voters. And we can expect less than 50% (14m) to vote. So how will the change happen.

And your observation on India is bang on.

From the verdict, nobody manipulated BVAS.

What BVAS does is accreditation.

That is, confirming that certain number of people that are eligible to vote through facial recognition or fingerprints.

Now, over-voting simply means that BVAS approved 50, for instance, but 70 people voted in a polling booth. This means that the INEC official there was responsible and ought to be punished for it.

However, INEC says that it is overwhelmed with a lot of tasks and that another agency should be set up to punish people for such offenses. That's why people (including INEC officials) keep misbehaving and going scot-free.

I hope this helps....

I need some clarification. So if BVAS accredits & approves 50 votes but 70 people voted, in that case, 20 votes should be automatically rejected as ineligible. Or Are INEC officials still allowed to review the 20 Votes not approved by BVAS? I thought the whole process is set up to reduce human input at the polling station.

Shouldn't the numbers of PVCs linked to a polling unit be equal to BVAS-approved numbers?

An Atiku win looks plausible and this write up highlights the key reason: elections are decided on tribal and religious lines

Remember he had over 11m votes and 25% in 30 states. Even if Obi wins all SE & SS, Atiku May still get 25% in all the SS. Just not sure the spoiler role Wike plays in Rivers. The SW has always been 50/50 btw PDp & Apc. Even With Tinubu on the ticket, Atiku can still get 25% except in Lagos and Ogun state

NC look like 3 way split kwara, Kogi (Tinubu), Nasarawa, Plateau, FCT, Taraba (Obi), Benue (Atiku). And Atiku will still get 25% in 4 of those.

In the North, a lot of those Buhari votes may switch to Atiku because he’s a Muslim. Religion is a greater factor in the Nw & Ne.

Are we looking at an Atiku outright win or run off between him and Tinubu/Obi. It will be difficult for Tinubu or Obi to win on first ballot.

Interesting times ahead

True but billions of $ was spent to develop Abuja while Lagos was completely abandoned by FG. No significant FG infrastructure spending for over 37 years (when capital moved to Abuja). All the infrastructure developed by FG then have since decayed. Some have been rehabilitated starting the Tinubu era till date.

So the IGR template developed by Tinubu generated funds that led to renewal of Lagos. Without that fund Lagos may still be a derelict state like others in Nigeria

Too many holes in this story and doesn't make sense:
1. You can't deposit $80,000 cash in a US account without attracting scrutiny. The maximum is $10,000 to prevent money laundering. And if you deposit a cheque with so huge amount you will have to provide documents to support it.

2. Why will an individual involved in drug trafficking leave $1.8 million sitting in a US account for over 1year? Drug dealers move cash quickly and launder into real estate, jewelry, automobiles, or invest in a business. Today that's a huge amount to leave in an account talk less of 1991.

3. When was Tinubu arrested, charged, and convicted of drug dealing? The document presented in this story is an affidavit and that doesn't indicate a conviction. The US authorities will not enter plea bargaining with a top drug dealer that does not involve a jail term. The convicted dealer may get a reduced sentence but will never escape jail time.

4. Very curious that The US authorities only forfeited his cash and froze his account but DID NOT charge him with the distribution of illegal drugs. Why? Asset forfeiture is a slap on the wrist and doesn't mean involvement in drug dealing.

This poorly written story is only making the rounds because Nigerians don't understand how the US judicial system works. If you're ever arrested for drug dealing on such a scale and there is probable cause to convict, you'll never get bail. I'm amazed Tinubu was allowed to walk freely for someone accused of drug dealing.

Overall, the story is trash
