birdman:

The Spurs are definitely well coached. Dont forget though, Neal and Green had fresh legs all game long and Popovich kept subbing them in and out. Its amazing how shooters start to brick shots if their legs get worn out. There is a good reason Pops will not be giddy about this win. Even the best 3 point teams like Nash's Suns back in the day always fell in the playoffs.

I wish I could read Spoelstra's mind right now - probably coming up with some crazee scheme smiley

Its not up to Spoelstra. Your 3 amigos just need to man up and play. You're not paying them $50 million/yr to wilt in the finals. I bet Gary Neal, Leonnard and Green don't get 10% of that.

Good news for the Heat: This series has been so inconsistent that Lebron may have a monster game tonight. Plus, Parker's ham string may be the X-factor (perhaps Miami's saving grace)

Well its Game day, Tip off @ 8.00 ET

Say whatever you like but Nigeria has been existing way before Abiola, so it will be idiotic on the part of any government to make June 12 democracy day. Is it not enough that the day is declared public holiday by SW states?

Correct. Nigerians instead need to search deeper about events leading to day and not just make it a symbol of democracy. Too many questions, too few answers on what transpired and led to that annulment. Did we have a true democratic election or an "arrangement" between a dictator and an influential businessman?

All I'm saying is we do things the right way . And BTW, accont # is not same as bank details . Yes we have the

And arrest him for what? Yes, he or she is a deceptive, heinous piece of cr*ap but what can we prove at this point?

The best is to stop him/her perpetrating his/her vile crime through this forum. That's about it

Disclosing people's bank details without a warrant is illegal and an infringement of privacy.

We need to do things the RIGHT way. Only trained and experienced investigators can fish him out from whatever hell hole is hiding

No it's not witches or African technology. Too many Nigerians die in road accidents because:
- our roads are very deplorable
- buses and cars are not road worthy. In fact commercial buses are akin to "coffins on four wheels"
- we have too many bad drivers
- accident and emergency rescue is non-existent

We're there already. Most Nigerians are now hustlers, eking out a living in Lagos, Abuja and other major cities. The Oligarchs (Dangote, Adenuga) continue to pile up the billions, politicians stealing, few Oil workers/bankers creating the illusion of an emerging middle class... And the rest? well God help you if you don't have relatives in "obodo oyinbo" to send you money. Last year over $20 billion was remitted from abroad to Nigeria

Tell you remittances is one reason we don't yet have a massive revolution. FACT

Here is another balanced report which raises important questions the illuminati crew dare not ask.

Thanks for your efforts in debunking the presence of illuminati in this murder. Why do black people quickly accept the existence of illuminati or invisible arm that guides events? Can’t we seek rationale explanations? The only thing about conspiracy theories: that they are just theories. Simple! Only the unintelligent mind will take it to heart and begin to psychoanalyze and find patterns where none exists.

In the coming months, when this case goes to court, it will be revealed as a case of brutal murder committed by two unhinged individuals. Criminals influenced by evil rhetoric from so called “Islamic teachings” to rationalize random act of murder.

Sadly for these two guys when serving time in a British jail they’ll come to regret the missed opportunities to live a richer and better life. Spending the rest of their lives in jail knowing they’ll probably die there will cause so much angst. Paradoxically, the Islamic cleric that influenced them may stay a free man while continuing spewing rhetoric of hatred.

2013 Western Conference finals

Spurs vs. Grizzles: Which starting 5 has the edge?

PF: Tim Duncan vs Zach Randolph --- Too close to call
C: Tiago Splitter vs. Marc Gasol --- Definitely Marc will pound Tiago to submission
SF: Kawhi Leonnard vs. Tayshun Prince --- I pick the more athletic Kawhi over the veteran Prince
SG: Danny Green vs. Tony Allen --- Trick or treat Allen will be too much for Danny
PG: Tony Parker vs. Mike Conley --- wow! I’m stuck here but if you put a gun to my head I’ll go for Tony Parker.

Potential game changers coming off the bench:

For Spurs:
Manu Ginobilli --- can change a game with his 3 point shooting and exciting drives to the basket. That said, the solid perimeter defense of the Grizzles should curtail Manu and force turnovers. Also Manu may not be healthy enough to withstand the suffocating defense of Prince and Tony Allen

Matt Bonner and Gary Neal have been inconsistent thus far in the playoffs, but either can still come up with a momentum changing 3 pointer

Will T-Mac see floor time? If so, can he even have any impact in a series that’s expected to be a defensive battle?

For Grizzles:
Quincy Poindexter and Jarryd Baylis have become reliable 3 point shooters for the offensively challenged Grizzles bench. With Marc & Zach dominating the paint, there will be plenty of 3 point opportunities for these guys.

Prediction:
I say Grizzles in 6 games but Pop’s ability to draw up smart plays during time outs may give Spurs an edge. Also Timmy, Tony Parker & Manu are masters in executing down the stretch.

In the end inexperience cost the Warriors! It was a good run tho they just couldn't get stops when it mattered most

Western Finals are set then! Spurs vs Grizzlies

The Knicks hang on but can they steal a game in Indy? Especially with Melo and JR shooting so poorly all series long?

Seriously who cares about this series? Given the atrocious shooting by both teams, the games are so painful to watch. In any case, who ever wins will be scorched by the Heat in 4 or 5 games.

All eyes should be on the Griz-Spurs match up. An intriguing series awaits us with both teams peaking at the right time. I tip my hat for the Grizzles in 6 or 7 games. Also, I believe the Grizs is the only team left that can outlast the Heat

It's the Kryptonite Nate night! The smallest player in this playoff and the biggest surprise so far. He carried the Bulls on his shoulder to cool down the red Heat. I'm so excited. Yes, one game does not decide a series but could this be the upset we've been waiting for?
Sports / Re: The NBA Begins by occam(m): 4:42pm On May 06, 2013
Roland17: Spurs vs Warriors: this is a very unpredictable match up, but I think the experience of spurs would prevail. Warriors have already over achieved by reaching the semi's.

Okc vs Grizzlies: the grizz are the only genuine team left with a post game and defensively apt, okc is a jump shooting team and without westbrook it has become tougher, I am going with the grizzlies, hopefully zibo can stay out of foul trouble during the series.

Knicks vs Indiana: this is the end of the road for the AARP knicks, the pacers are overtly physical and pound the glass, the pacers would win this one.

Heats vs Bulls: the bulls might steal one or two games, but they lack instant offensive, the heats possess too much fire power, especially three point shooting, thus they get my vote...
I would not wish to see rose come back, the team is already struggling with chemistry, I doubt rose would solve it...

But i would sure love an upset.

Me too, but NBA playoffs so boringly easy to predict. few surprises Most people agree it's Heat vs. Spurs final and Miami wins it all.

I'm rooting for this Grizs to get to the final. A deep, balanced, tough and rugged team. This is the one team that can take the Heat down to the wire. In the end though the Heat simply has too much firepower to overwhelm any defense.

Obviously, they are talking about the value of cargo business moving through the port which is not unrealistic since it's going to be serving multiple countries.

LA port alone moves goods worth over $236 billion a year and generates over $400 billion in annual revenue..

$200 Billion or not, this is very irrelevant, fact remains that this is set to be the largest and the most sophisticated port in west Africa. This is going to be the go to and the premier port serving all the west African coast.

The huge revenue numbers for now is irrelevant, it's all about the immense economic potential for all involved.

He's talking revenue numbers. Using fuzzy math to come up with fake projections is same as fraud

Rotterdam, the worlds's largest port generated revenue of $850 million in 2012. Compare that to the bunk $200 billion for this new port

Playoff ties
East
Heat vs Bucks
Knicks vs Celtics
Pacers vs Hawks
Nets vs Bulls

West
Thunder vs Rockets
Spurs vs Lakers
Nuggets vs Warriors
Clippers vs Grizzlies

Feeling great this morning. I hoped and prayed for a Spurs vs Lakers match up; and I got it. The series can go either way or Spurs sweeps. very unpredictable and intriguing. I'll go with Lakers in 7. why? A banged up Spurs team is what the Lakers need. As one ESPN commentator said the "Spurs engine is leaking oil" and not sure if Pop can fix things on time.

Plus, ironically Kobe's absence may put less pressure on guys and can play loose. Though it feels unreal without Kobe in the mix of things. Gasol is key in this series. Timmy and Dwight cancel out each other.

Same theme in the last couple of years: African countries like Nigeria are growing rapidly but more people are still very poor.

Same report, same problems identified and nothing changes. Foreign Direct investment continues to pour in while pocket of the people remains empty.

Will anything change?
Politics / Nigeria: Strong Economic Growth But Little Progress On Poverty Reduction by occam(m): 2:53pm On Apr 16, 2013
Economic growth in sub-Saharan Africa should significantly outpace the global average over the next three years, according to the World Bank.

Higher commodities, increasing investment and a general pick-up in the world economy should all boost the continent's growth to more than 5%.

But the World Bank added that African governments had to do more to ensure that this growth reduced poverty.
Global GDP was forecast to grow by an average of 2.4% this year.

Foreign direct investment is forecast to reach record levels in the coming years, hitting $54bn (£35.3bn)a year by 2015, the Bank said.

The report said strong economic growth in Africa had significantly reduced the extent of poverty in Africa over the past decade or so.

The Bank's provisional figures showed that the proportion of Africans living on less than $1.25 a day fell from 58% to 48.5% between 1996 and 2010.

"If properly harnessed to unleash their full potential, these trends hold the promise of more growth, much less poverty, and accelerating shared prosperity for African countries in the foreseeable future," said World Bank economist, Punam Chuhan-Pole.

But the Bank added that poverty reduction was being held back by income inequality and a reliance on mineral and mining exports in some African countries.

Resource-rich countries such as Equatorial Guinea, Nigeria and Gabon were singled out as making less progress in combating poverty than other African countries with fewer natural resources.

"While the broad picture emerging from the data is that Africa's economies have been expanding robustly and that poverty is coming down, the aggregate hides a great deal of diversity in performance, even among Africa's faster growers," said Shanta Devarajan, the World Bank's chief economist for Africa.

Problem areas
The Bank said infrastructure development was critical to ensure the strong pace of economic growth.
Investment in infrastructure would be key to the continued success of the oil and gas sectors in East Africa and the exploitation of the huge coal deposits in Mozambique.

The mineral sectors in places such as Ghana, Guinea, Liberia, Nigeria and Sierra Leone should continue to attract investment, the Bank said.

The World Bank did, however, identify some problem areas it felt could hold back economic growth.
Labour unrest in the continent's largest economy, South Africa, as well as political issues in the Central African Republic, Mali and Togo were identified as potential concerns.

The Bank warned that risks to African growth remained, not only from the continuing crisis in the eurozone, but also from any sharp unforeseen downturn in demand for commodities from China.
