Career / Re: 10 Ways To Recognize Ponzi Schemes by occam(m): 3:03pm On Jun 17, 2021 |
ThierryJay: Ponzi scheme or pyramid are brothers. Their cousin is MLM (multi level marketing). If you have to attend a seminar to get the gist of the investment or introduced to the product; just run away. And if it takes more than 3 mins to understand the business model; it’s definitely a pyramid Nigeria is a fertile ground for Ponzis/pyramids. I bet couple are running as we speak. People won’t listen because too many Nigerians believe they are smart. They don’t ask questions or think asking questions means you’re a dullard. 2 Likes |
Politics / Re: June 12 Protests In London (Videos) by occam(m): 11:47pm On Jun 12, 2021 |
Just the jobless Naijas doing dead end jobs ( cleaners, cab, janitors) are the ones out there protesting. They’ve been living in London, Canada, USA for years and can’t make headway. The only purpose now is to hide their failures and blame it on Buhari. Don’t let them scatter Nigeria. Tell them to stay put and get there life together. They’re only scared of spending there old age in the cold because they never figures out path to success in London. If you look at the video, you’ll see it’s the frustrated and old niggas that are out there. You won’t find business minded or professionals living abroad supporting this crap. I see a lot of them over here and understand their motives. Don’t let them deceive to burn down Nigeria Enough said |

Politics / Re: Nigeria Loses ₦2 Billion Daily To Twitter Ban - NetBlocks (Sahara Reporters) by occam(m): 4:55pm On Jun 07, 2021 |
People need to pump the brake on this Twitter. How did they calculate that Nigeria loses 2bn every day? Nigerians advertise on Twitter and all that ad revenue goes to Twitter, Not Nigerians. They don't pay tax in Nigeria and employ few Nigerians. In fact, worldwide they made $3b which is tax-sheltered in Bermuda. Right now, the EU is fighting Twitter & other social media to pay tax on income earned in their countries. People can switch to Facebook and Instagram to advertise their products. These are even more effective in driving sales. Twitter is primarily used to propagate political or social messages. The very reason it was banned in China. And Chinese economy is thriving without it So I don't see the reason for all the noise about the impact on our economy. I think this is an opportunity to develop a local digital marketing platform and steal some of the 40 million Twitter users in Nigeria. Our local tech companies can earn the ad revenue instead. A prolonged ban on Twitter may be a silver lining for our own local platforms to shine. |
Crime / Re: Iyabo Ojo & Princess Storm Panti Over Attempt To Bail Baba Ijesha (Video) by occam(m): 7:58pm On Apr 29, 2021 |
murmee: A Judge may see this as entrapment and even worse consider their action endangering the life of a minor. Never put a child through trauma just to collect evidence. Why wasn't a criminal complaint filed 7 years ago or when the child told them? |
Crime / Re: Defilement: Baba Ijesha May Be Released On Friday – Police by occam(m): 5:49pm On Apr 29, 2021 |
This video means nothing. The guy didn’t confess to anything. He just said the devil caused it and he that he has spiritual problems. Not once did he say “I molested the girl”. Stupid people posting stuff like this online will make this guy walk free. Besides 7 yrs ago no accusation, prosecution or conviction. Judges only deal with facts and evidence. Emotions on social media is just random noise. A good defence lawyer will shred this video to pieces in court. He’ll tell the judge his client is afraid of being beaten hence agreeing to all the accusation by the amateur interrogators. Stay off social media and let police & court handle criminal cases |
Crime / Re: I Caught Baba Ijesha With CCTV - Comedian Princess Reveals, Breaks Down In Tears by occam(m): 8:12pm On Apr 28, 2021 |
AdeolaOmoOba: Exactly what I thought. Using a traumatized child to entrap a potential molester is criminal. Why not report the matter to the cops and let them investigate. So the girl had to be abused again to gather evidence? Very sickening 1 Like |

Politics / Re: Lai Mohammed To Elites: Professors May Work In Togo Bakeries If Nigeria Breaks by occam(m): 8:14pm On Apr 22, 2021 |
Eriokanmi: My facts are right: Ekiti is the 35th state in terms of IGR. Only Jigawa ranks lower Are Fulanis responsible for our problems? Have you ever asked your local government chairman or governors how they are spending FAAC allocations? Secession will not solve the fundamental problem of Nigeria: corruption & lack of accountability. In fact most African nations have been ravaged by this double headed monster. Progressive nations with multiple ethnic groups have figured out ways to coexist and prosper. Find out how India with over 2,000 ethnic groups is moving up. Enough said |
Politics / Re: Lai Mohammed To Elites: Professors May Work In Togo Bakeries If Nigeria Breaks by occam(m): 5:00pm On Apr 22, 2021 |
Eriokanmi: You paint a rosy picture of aftermath of seccssion. Fact is nobody knows; all just speculating. The agitation is driven by Nigerain disaporans, irredentist elements and political commentators. All these people have no skin in the game (no investment/minmal ties to Nigeria) and will quickly dissapear when things get tough. The man on the street just wants a job, good health sysytem, security and live in decent homes. In short, an economy that works. Nostalgia about Yoruba prowess means nothing in the modern world. Just Past glory. Ethnic diversity is one of the main reasons Lagos remains the only economical viable Yoruba nation. Other factors like benefits of former capital status & sound management can be included. Osun & Ekiti you mentioned, are 2 of the poorest states in Nigeria. So what have they gained as independent states? Kogi too Britain left EU because they were always skeptical about the union. In fact, they were dragged kicking and screaming into the EU. Secession is not the answer. You will only transfer oppression from nation level to local fiefdoms. It's the same corrupt players and elites pushing this agitation to have their own dominion. They have no vision or plan for the masses. |
Politics / Re: Obaseki: "FG Printed 60 Billion Naira For States To Share" by occam(m): 9:41pm On Apr 10, 2021 |
Obaseki is just huffing & puffing. What is he doing to raise internal revenue for Edo state? The ratio of government spending to GDP is more important. In 2020, this ratio was 12%, lower than many countries in Africa. Nigeria GDP was $400b; though still low. However This shows there is growth opportunity in private sector Government at all levels are useless. They’re just pocketing FAAC money without developing infrastructures. We’ve all known for over 10yrs that demand for oil will decrease with move towards greener energy. Lamenting now about reduced oil revenue is dumb. instead how do We develop Information technology, agro processing, tourism, green energy, manufacturing? This is what he should be talking about 2 Likes |

soojar: Begs the question how economically viable is Odudwa nation? When you ask, they tell you “when we get there we’ll think about it”. Except for Lagos & Ogun, other states in SW will go bankrupt without federal allocation. They tell you they have things to bring in revenue. Like what? Oh we have Cocoa, tourism, gold, bitumen. So how come they’re not bringing in revenue today? |

Secessionist advocate for a Republic of Biafra should look carefully at the map of Nigeria before they decide. Be very careful what you wish for. Unless Cross River & Akwa Ibom agrees to be part of the new nation, Biafra republic will become a landlocked entity dependent solely on Nigeria. Your republic will be a densely populatated parcel of land dependent on your perceived enemy to trade with other parts of the world. You will have to pay high duty cost to Nigerian customs before you can ship in goods to you so called Republic. A word is enough for the wise. Don't let Kanu drive you to imminent disaster and isolation. If you still insist on breaking away, no problem, ciao, aurevoir, odabo, bye 3 Likes |
Business / Re: Naira Slides To 405/$ Amid Tight Dollar Supply by occam(m): 5:05pm On Apr 08, 2017 |
Reference: I like your analogy (bold) This CBN has no clue how to manage the economy. China with over $3 trillion in foreign reserve continues to increase their coffers, yet Nigeria with a meagre $30 billion is using it to subsidize parents sending their children to schools abroad. Go figure! This policy is very dysfunctional and smells of corruption. Exchanging nearly $2 billion at subsidized rate (370) for invisible (BTA, school fees), when real rate is 410, is an "implicit tax" on productive sectors of the economy and other people not benefiting from this corrupt driven policy. Any Government attempting to defer the FX market eventually fails. When speculators smell blood, the CBN will quickly back off this policy of trying to keep naira value at a fixed rate. Let the market determine naira rate. Period. We focus on policies to increase local production and export of goods. Anything else, is just hoping for magic to turn the economy around. 1 Like |
