Fashion / Fashion Victim Or Trend Setter? by OceaneKhadija80: 10:11pm On Aug 25, 2013
So how's many individuals buy something simply because they saw a celebrity wearing it or they saw it in some glossy magazine? I hear stories of people (women and men)who empty their bank accounts in order to buy a certain look because so and so was wearing something that they just had to have. I do not understand this personally as I have never seen the need to display labels if I look good I look good end off. Why do we believe that because it is expensive then it is beautiful and therefore it defines us? Where do designers get their inspirations from? The last fashion seasons have seen Africa or replicated in many trends that have already been fashionable and a huge price tab is attached. This is so when it comes to prints Africans now prints and we know colour there is no doubt of that.

Why is it better to be seen in Gucci instead of wares designed by Deloa Sagoe or Alphadi? Why are we so gullible? I was brought up to define my own style yes I look at what's on trend and make necessary adjustments according to my own personal taste, why is our own Africaness lost when it comes to fashion? It is possible to combine tradition with modern it is possible to set trends and have designers pay homage to the motherland as I am happy to say many do. So ladies and gentleman why do we shun African designers? Oswald Boatemg and Alphadi design exctional attaire but many opt for something else just because its the thing to do! Being trendy doesnt have to cost a fortune it's about style .taste and the ability to wear things that compliment each other. Let me hear your thoughts on this matter.
Romance / Re: Why Do Nigerian Women Blame Foreign Women For " Stealing" Their Men. by OceaneKhadija80: 5:18pm On Aug 25, 2013
I hear what you are saying and agree to some elements but not all. My question lies with how our women refuse to acknowledge fault in a marriage or relationship when things go wrong every nation has good people and bad people but women I think we are our own worst enemies most times.
Romance / Re: Why Do Girls Like Sleeping On Top Of Their Men? by OceaneKhadija80: 5:10pm On Aug 25, 2013
There are two ways to look at this question
1) Sleep could refer to position ie woman on top but then perhaps I am taking artistic licence to a whole different level grin
2) Sleep on top could be exactly that if that's the case I will say this , I prefer cuddling a little after the action but as for resting my whole being on him and falling asleep well he is not that comfortable and I think once cramp kicks in he will say something about it? cheesy

Not really I know quite a fair few guys who swear on pain of death that they are glad they left their Nigerian wife/ girlfriend now I have noticed a very obvious pattern developing that the Naija woman always blames the foreign girl or woman what about looking a little closer to home?

Romance / Why Do Nigerian Women Blame Foreign Women For " Stealing" Their Men. by OceaneKhadija80: 3:08pm On Aug 25, 2013
Is it possible to steal a man? Can a woman impose herself on a happily married couple and steal a man weather this man is married or not? I have heard this crop up time and time again that foreign women are to blame for the demise of many otherwise happy unions. These foreign.women use their charms and unknown magic portions to lure the quite innocent men and trap them with their foreign charms. I have to ask the men here is a man stolen or does he leave. And to the women why is I'd difficult to accept that sometimes the fault lies with us we drive our men away. I suppose the pill is bitter to swallow if the women happens to be foreign. Men do not get stolen they are not agbalumo that you just pluck and walk away with without any resistance . It's something I over hear quite a lot so and so husband was stolen by that foreign woman really?
Fashion / Re: What Is Fashion In Your Mind? by OceaneKhadija80: 2:53pm On Aug 25, 2013
Fashion is transient , looks come and go but what defines me is my style as that is the way I convey my personality, mood and individuality .

Fashion / Re: What Is the Best Concealer for hiding Stretch Marks And Scars?its Urgent Pls by OceaneKhadija80: 2:41pm On Aug 25, 2013
Concealer is for the face, body foundation is not an all over application as it is meant for very minor flaws. So rather than worrying about hiding these problems work on minimising the appearance it's not an over night result but bio-oil , Shea butter as well as almond oil applied daily will help fade the marks.

Fashion / Lipstick And Black Women A Love Hate Relationship by OceaneKhadija80: 2:24pm On Aug 25, 2013
Not that long ago I was standing near a beauty counter looking for a particular shade of lipstick I like , I found it and passed two elegantly dressed ladies but my eyes caught glimpse of something I have noticed weather abroad or a home the use of black eye liner worn with frosted lipstick why ladies do we still do this? I have tried to come up with many plausible explanations but nothing. Of course I have relative sand friends who still stick to this unique routine but what does everyone think? I am very curious to know. I am not advocating that everyone should wear lipstick of course not this would be absurd. To wear lipstick that is is very much a personal choice but lipstick and eyeliner is something that is very synonymous to Nigeria and yes it is a bit of a cliche that is also a stereotype! I wear lipstick and I am blessed enough to be able to carry any shade but that does not mean I wear any colour , I wear what I am comfortable with and what compliments what I am wearing and the occasion . Oh yes lipstick has to be coordinated but not match a woman's attire . Your make up and what you wear has to by synchronised . Before anyone flies on their soap box matching is not the same as synchronising or complimenting and outfit. You can wear anything but get the lips right . So what's on offer for ladies of colour well a lot now, as many cosmetic companies local as well as international have FINALLY cottoned on to the fact that black women do buy make up! Yes we do have money to spend but why do we spend it on products that have no business being on our skin?

So in a nutshell lipstick is divided into finishes these are
Matte ,Satin(Creamy), Sheer,Liquid and Gloss
Each finish has shades or colours and I have found that regardless of skin tone you can carry any of the finesse as long as you apply the right shade. So yes anyone from golden to dark skin tones lets embrace what we have instead of emulating what we think we should be.
So how many ladies moisturise their lips on a day to day basis? How many are aware that the skin on our lips does get sun burnt and often very badly. So get the lip balms out and use them and it does not have to be expensive stuff, anything with Shea butter or beeswax is ideal avoid petroleum based products ( for the face , body or hair )
There is nothing wrong with lip liner but it has to match the shade of the lipstick not the obitiqious black.
The trick is prep the lips that is moisturise the lips daily and before applying lipstick especially matte lipstick without doing this , lipstick will feather - sink into the crack on the lips or further dry out the lips leaving a very unsightly state of affairs. Blend in the lip liner and lipstick using a lip brush then set the lipstick this way ieverytime your lips come into contact with anything there is no stain.
Baby powder and tissue paper are the cheapest option.
Once you have applied lipstick and you are ready to go apply a very minuscule amount of baby powder or translucent powder and dust over lips press lips together or using tissue ( 1 ply) put tissue between lips and press lips gently .

Ladies weather you like your lips bold or neutral the choice is yours but whatever your choice is wear it well and be proud of your skin tone and the choices you make just stay away from the the cliches and stereotypes of frosted lips and black lip liner
Celebrities / Re: WOW!! See Dance Queen Kaffy Is 8yrs Older Than Her Husband(pics) by OceaneKhadija80: 1:09pm On Aug 25, 2013
The fact that it is still viewed as a huge thing that a woman marries a man younger than her shows society has not quite moved on from the age thing. Would it be an issue if it was the other way round .i.e. if he was older I suspect not! The bottom line is they are happy that's all that matters not our opinions .
Fashion / Foundation & Concealer The Most Misunderstood Products In A Woman's Make Up Bag! by OceaneKhadija80: 1:01pm On Aug 25, 2013
Many women are guilty of this , foundation stains all over the place , phone, on paper work on your mans shirt and I am ashamed to say many still go to bed with a face full of make up so it will be foundation all over the pillow case why ladies?
Why are many black women afraid of using primers and no you do not always have to apply foundation to your whole face that is such a common myth. Many of us feel that if we use a foundation we have to apply foundation that is a few shades lighter than us then that means we have nailed it , not quite my sisters. Foundation is meant to enhance not cover up if your skin has break puts often or you have acne scars then a concealer with a full coverage foundation should help but unfortunately not all the time .
We need to prime the skin before applying any concealer, foundation or make up .
1) Wash your hands yes , I know but how many of us actually do this?
2) cleanse, tone and moisturise the skin -an oil free moisturiser or any light weight lotion that is not paraffin based especially if you have oily skin.
3) Prime the skin -a skin primer does not have to cost the earth but what it does is, create a smooth base to enable make up to sit flawlessly -use finger tips to apply all over face except eye lids
4)Apply your eye make up ie eye shadow especially if you are using high dark pigment eye shadow I will explain why if anyone wishes to know .
5) wipe of or dust off any eye shadow under eye re-apply primer under eye if you wiped under eye with a damp wipe
6) apply concealer under eye area as well as over any dark blemishes you might want to cover but do not apply to the whole face
7)Apply foundation ( powder, mineral , liquid or solid ) using a sponge if you are relatively blemish free then focus on your T-Zone and never apply foundation on your neck. End just below the jaw line
coolBlend in very gently with a brush . You should not see the foundation if you can its the wrong shade undecided
9)Apply setting powder - translucent powder that sets your foundation . This is a white powder that blends in and sets your foundation stopping it from transferring everywhere and in to anything. Wait 6-8 mins
10) Apply rouge if that's your thing , mascara and lipstick
11) Through out the day dust shiny areas with a little of the translucent powder it tends to be the nose and forehead . Ladies you only need a little of the translucent powder.
Finally : give the powder enough time to set and use a little as it does go along way. If you have flawless skin a little concealer under the eyes followed by the translucent powder and you are done!
