Why were the primaries for PDP and ACN so close? If they were properly spaced , am sure Atiku would have joined the race for ACN presidential canditate at the last minute after being humilated in PDP's.

The chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Okwezilieze Nwodo, has been removed from office by the order of an Abuja High Court today. The court ordered his removal over the waiver granted him to be re-absorbed into the PDP.

Barely 24 hours to the conduct of the Peoples Democratic Party Presidential Primary election, gays, under the umbrella of National Gay Forum, have expressed support for former Vice President Atiku Abubakar.

The group urged Nigerians to support Atiku’s aspiration to rule the country, stressing that he possessed the acumen to turn the fortunes of the country around for the better.

Addressing a press conference on Tuesday at the Agura Hotel in Abuja, spokesmen of the group, Victor Labelle and Freedom Awuke, said that in view of the meaningful contributions of the former vice president to national development, it had become imperative for PDP delegates to cast their votes for him at the party primary election on Thursday (tomorrow) as well as in the April elections.

Labelle said the gay group was exercising its fundamental human right of freedom of association as obtainable in the United States, France and other European nations where gays usually express their political affiliations.

The police in the United States of America has reported that former Nigeria World Cup star Uche Okafor committed suicide.

Okafor’s body was discovered Thursday afternoon by his wife in their house in Little Elm, a town about 30 miles northwest of Dallas, detective Oscar Hinojosa said.

The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office said Friday that he hanged himself in an upstairs hallway. The former central defender, 43, is survived by a wife, Ifeyinwa, and a 15-year-old daughter, Tochukwu.

The manner of his death has sent shock waves across Nigeria.
“What could be so grievous as to lead to him taking his own life?” asked Dahiru Sadi, president of the Association of Professional Footballers of Nigeria (APFON) who played alongside the deceased at the 1988 Olympics.

A shell-shocked Tijjani Babangida, who was also a teammate of Okafor in the national team, told MTNFootball.com that he still smells a foul play in the player’s death. “I still can come to terms with Uche’s death because he was such an intelligent and determined man who from all indications was doing well even after he quit football,” Babangida insisted.

“It is still possible that the true cause of his death may be known much later. We have to keep asking questions because we are not known to give up life easily.”

Former President, Olusegun Obasanjo said if he has the opportunity to come back to the world, he still prefers to be a Nigerian, he also said that his children would determine where and what type of burial he deserves after his demise.

Mr Obasanjo made this known while responding to questions from NEXT at his Hilltop private residence in Abeokuta, Ogun State.

“I still like to come back as a Nigerian. If I go to God and God says, well I think you should go back, I will say to God, thank you very much for giving this second opportunity,” he said.

“I will say to my God, don’t you think you should shower enough favour for me on my first time and If He says I want to give you another opportunity, I will say repeat. Do it as before.” The former president noted that his life has been full of ups and downs.

“It has been full of sweet and sour, that is what makes life itself worth living. So, if God says I will send you out there, I will tell him not to take anything from what I have gone through or to add anything to it.” Mr Obasanjo, whose health has recently been an object of media reports said he is not bothered about death as it was something beyond his comprehension. He attributed stories about him ‘slumping’ at a recent event as part of marketing gimmick of the media.

Marketing gimmick

“I think it is one of the gimmicks of marketing, maybe they want to use that to sell their papers,” Mr Obasanjo said, while faulting the reports. He said what happened at the church service was that at a stage he felt uncomfortable due to heat and had to temporarily leave the church to get fresh air. He said this lasted for some minutes and that he later returned to the church to join the congregation and eventually witnessed the end of the service, and even supervised the cutting of the cake.

Saying how and when he will die can only be determined by God. Mr Obasanjo also said he has no special thought of how he would like to be buried.

“That will be left in the hands of my children,” he said, saying that is even speculative. “How do I know how I would die, depending on the circumstances where I die. How do you know, supposing I die in an air crash and the crash could not be found? But if I die and my body is found and preserved, my children would decide wherever I would be buried.”

I think its time we all say the truth, Free and fair elections are not conducted by the president but by the people in the way and manner they conduct themselves during elections.

If siasia was as good and classy as he thinks, then he shouldn't have stooped so low to be coaching Heartland in the first place. I was part and parcel of those that started clamouring for Siasia, but I think of the wide acceptance from across the nation has gotten into his head.

What is Siasia's records, this man is just over rated and it's getting in to his head. Is $60,000 per month not a good salary for someone who is presently earning very less than $10,000? Siasia will never coach this country if he continues in this manner. If he was that good, how many foreign offers has he got. Is two silver medals at age grade competitions a guarantee of his coaching prowess at the senior level?

I wonder what makes siasia believes he is worth that. I am is fan and wish he handled the super eagles, but there is someone somewhere deceiving him. If not why will he ask for $1m sign on fee and $100,000 monthly salary without trying to climb gradually. NFF please look for another coach.
