Sunday's Premier League clash between Chelsea and Tottenham at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea:

The hosts could be without goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois as he continues to struggle with the hamstring problem that forced him to withdraw from Belgium duty over the international break, whilst Andreas Christen is a doubt with a groin niggle.

Ross Barkley is still not ready to return from a hamstring injury of his own, whilst David Luiz remains unavailable.

Tottenham:

Mauricio Pochettino claims star man Harry Kane could feature, just three weeks after he suffered ankle ligament damage, but midfielder Harry Winks will miss the game due to an ankle injury.

Chelsea manager Antonio Conte:

"It is an important game. Our target is to reach the Champions League and then the final of the FA Cup. If we win we go close to Tottenham, if we don't then not so close with seven games.

"Nothing is impossible. With this run I put in Liverpool and we have to try to win every game, not to make mistakes and not drop points."

Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino:

"There is still a lot of games to play, but always it's important for your confidence, motivation - to win at Chelsea would be fantastic but for sure it will be a very tough game.

Saturday's Premier League fixture as Swansea travel to Old Trafford to take on Manchester United.


Manchester United:

With a two-point lead and a game in hand over third place Liverpool, Jose Mourinho's men will be eager to kick on and cement their position as admirable runners-up. With Luke Shaw on the ropes at Old Trafford, it'll be interesting to see whether he makes the cut with Ashley Young having suffered a knock on international duty.

Daley Blind (ankle) and Sergio Romero (knee) will both sit this one out for the Red Devils.

Swansea:

In 14th place, but still just three points above the drop, manager Carlos Carvalhal will know that any unexpected points his side can pick up will be pivotal in the Swans' bid for survival. They go into this one as the underdogs, but they certainly love giant-killing and have already beaten Liverpool and Arsenal this season.

Angel Rangel (groin), Renato Sanches (hamstring), Wilfried Bony (knee) and Leroy Fer (achilles) make up Swansea's extensive injury list. Jordan Ayew will serve the last game of a three match ban for his horror tackle on Huddersfield's Jonathan Hogg.

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho:

"We will face a team that are very well organised, especially from a defensive point of view. Swansea are dangerous on the counter-attack."

Swansea manager Carlos Carvalhal:

Crystal Palace:

James Tomkins and Wilfried Zaha will likely be absent having picked up minor injuries over the international break, while Alexander Sorloth faces a late fitness test following a hamstring injury. Liverpool:

The legal drama between the two tech giants is definitely worth a documentary or even a film, especially given how it practically divided the software community into camps. Unlike the Samsung v Apple cases, the principles and laws involved will affect more than just Android and Google but the entire software and tech industry as a whole.

Mohamed Salah's four-goal haul against Watford has propelled him to the top of the leaderboard, three ahead of Lionel Messi who also found the back of the net at the weekend.

President Trump made the shocking admission on Wednesday that he made up information during a meeting with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.

During a fundraising speech in Missouri, Trump recalled contradicting Trudeau, who told him Canada didn’t have a trade deficit with the U.S. — even though he had “no idea” whether that was true.

Juventus battled to a 4-3 aggregate victory over Tottenham. Sevilla dumped Manchester United out of the competition with a famous 2-1 win at Old Trafford.

Stephen Hawking, the brightest star in the firmament of science, whose insights shaped modern cosmology and inspired global audiences in the millions, has died aged 76.

His family released a statement in the early hours of Wednesday morning confirming his death at his home in Cambridge.

Hawking’s children, Lucy, Robert and Tim, said in a statement: “We are deeply saddened that our beloved father passed away today. He was a great scientist and an extraordinary man whose work and legacy will live on for many years.

His courage and persistence with his brilliance and humour inspired people across the world. “He once said: ‘It would not be much of a universe if it wasn’t home to the people you love.’ We will miss him for ever.”

For fellow scientists and loved ones, it was Hawking’s intuition and wicked sense of humour that marked him out as much as the fierce intellect which, coupled with his illness, came to symbolise the unbounded possibilities of the human mind. Hawking was driven to Wagner, but not the bottle, when he was diagnosed with motor neurone disease in 1963 at the age of 21. Doctors expected him to live for only two more years.

But Hawking had a form of the disease that progressed more slowly than usual. He survived for more than half a century.

Hawking once estimated he worked only 1,000 hours during his three undergraduate years at Oxford. In his finals, he came borderline between a first and second class degree.

Convinced that he was seen as a difficult student, he told his viva examiners that if they gave him a first he would move to Cambridge to pursue his PhD. Award a second and he threatened to stay. They opted for a first. Those who live in the shadow of death are often those who live most. For Hawking, the early diagnosis of his terminal disease, and witnessing the death from leukaemia of a boy he knew in hospital, ignited a fresh sense of purpose.

“Although there was a cloud hanging over my future, I found, to my surprise, that I was enjoying life in the present more than before. I began to make progress with my research,” he once said. Embarking on his career in earnest, he declared: “My goal is simple. It is a complete understanding of the universe, why it is as it is and why it exists at all.”

He began to use crutches in the 1960s, but long fought the use of a wheelchair. When he finally relented, he became notorious for his wild driving along the streets of Cambridge, not to mention the intentional running over of students’ toes and the occasional spin on the dance floor at college parties. Hawking’s first major breakthrough came in 1970, when he and Roger Penrose applied the mathematics of black holes to the universe and showed that a singularity, a region of infinite curvature in spacetime, lay in our distant past: the point from which came the big bang.

Penrose found he was able to talk with Hawking even as the latter’s speech failed.

The U.S. House of Representatives will debate bipartisan legislation next week aimed at preventing violence at schools following the shooting deaths of 17 people at a Florida high school on Feb. 14, Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy said on Tuesday.

McCarthy, the second most powerful Republican in the House, did not outline any other bills the chamber might consider that are urged by gun control groups, such as raising the minimum age for buying semi-automatic rifles or banning them altogether.

The House has already passed a bill, which is pending in the Senate, to tighten government background checks on gun buyers. It included a controversial provision to greatly expand the ability of people to carry concealed weapons anywhere in the United States, which is not likely to pass the Senate. Representative Steny Hoyer, the second-ranking House Democrat, said the House floor should be opened to a wide-ranging debate on gun measures.

Referring to the school safety bill, Hoyer said, “We ought to put additional protections, not just for students, but people in theaters, nightclubs, shopping malls and churches alike.”

Hoyer, speaking to reporters, also called for votes on assault weapon restrictions, broader gun-sale background checks and banning “bump stocks” that can increase the firing capacity of a weapon.

The No. 2 Republican in the Senate, John Cornyn, urged Democrats to drop their demands for additional gun control and instead just pass the limited background checks bill that is backed by the National Rifle Association, a powerful Washington lobbying organization.
