Politics / Hackers Steal N6.3bn From Nigerian Bank by octus2008(m): 1:59pm On Sep 15, 2014
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) is on the trail of a group of computer hackers, who had stolen N6.28billion ($40million), from a Nigerian bank.
According to a report by the Weekly Trust newspaper, the head of the IT thieves is Godswill Oyegwa Uyoyou, who worked in the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) department of the unidentified bank. He is said to be on the run presently.
Uyoyou allegedly conspired with others and hacked into the bank's computers, disbursing the funds to various accounts as they pleased.
Uyoyou, who hails from Isoko South Local Government Area of Delta State, is said to have carried out the massive heist over a short period of time.
EFCC spokesman, Mr. Wilson Uwujaren said: "They most likely got through to [Uyoyou] because he's an IT person in the bank. One Saturday, he took the 'cyber gang' to the bank under the pretext that he was going to carry out some maintenance work, allowing them access to hardware, and they commenced to penetrate the bank's database."
Uwujaren said they then increased the balances of some accounts. Sources told us that no culprits have been arrested yet and the spokesman said "The matter is still under investigation."
But banking industry sources said that it is an Abuja branch of a new generation bank.
Uwujaren said the thieves have not withdrawn the entire sum stated. "It was in the process of withdrawing some of the money that they were caught," he said, adding that some of the criminals are being tracked.
For now, the chief suspect Uyoyou could not be found in all the addresses advertised by the EFCC declaring him wanted. At Balogun Akarutu Street, off Tijani Salako, Ile Epo, Ashamu Estate, Ejigbo, Lagos, where Uyoyou claimed to be living, there were two houses labelled as 7a and 7b.
The probe at No. 7a revealed that there was nobody by such a name living in any of the flats on the premises. Similarly, a shop-owner at No. 7b who also resides in the main house alleged that there was nobody known by such a name in any of the flats.
The heist by Uyoyou and Co. is just the latest in a string of major cyber-theft jobs. Figures released by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) show that the nation's banking sector has lost over N20 billion through internet fraud in 2013 alone. In September of the same year, undergraduates of a Nigerian federal university infamously defrauded Union Bank Plc to the tune of N2 billion.
On the legislative side of things, in 2011 Hon. Bassey Etim sponsored a Cyber Security Bill to safeguard banks and their clients' funds.
A 15-member cybercrime committee with representation from both government and private sector, was set up with the task of designing solutions for Nigerian internet-based fraud and cybercrime. Upon their deliberations, a 'Draft Cybercrime Act to the President', with the committee forming the Nigerian Cybercrime Working Group (NCWG), in order to accelerate the implementation of its Cybercrime research efforts, and to assist the Nigerian National Assembly in the quick passage of a Cybercrime Bill. So far, this is yet to become law.
A 2011 annual report of the CBN revealed: "There were 2,527 reported cases of attempted fraud or forgery, involving N29.5 billion, as against 5,960 cases involving N19.7 billion and N3.1billion (US$19.2 million) in 2010." The report said they were tech-driven crimes, or attempts.

Nairaland / General / Tamale Chief Demands Cows, Rams Over Indecency by octus2008(m): 11:25am On Aug 07, 2014
Persons captured in the recently leaked pornographic videos risk being banished from Tamale if they fail to meet the demands of the spiritual chief of the Tamale Metropolis.

Dakpema Naa Alhassan Dawuni, who has summoned parents of the over 30 ladies and the young man at the centre of the infamous Tamale Indecency saga, is demanding two bulls and four rams from them.

The bulls, according to the palace spokesperson, Mohammed Rashid, which must be black and white in colour, would be used to atone for the crime and pacify the gods.

The four rams, it was disclosed, would be given to some powerful Imams in the city for Quran recitations to seek the face of Allah to forgive the young women and their families ‘for the sins the girls have committed.’

He disclosed that the young man in question would be given 100 hot strokes of the whip by palace guards to serve as a deterrent to other people in the area.

The conduct of the ladies and the sex maniac, the spokesperson added, were believed to have caused a draught within the metropolis – there has not been any rainfall for some weeks now.

Some residents appealed to parents of the affected ladies to call the bluff of the chief as according to them, he has no moral justification to mete out such punishment on them.

They indicated that the ladies and the purported Canada-based man, called Kamil, committed no crime as all of them are adults and moreover, they (ladies) consented to the proposal to indulge in the act.

Meanwhile, one person has so far been picked in connection with the source of the leaked videos and pictures which went viral since last week.

Police are reluctant in disclosing the identity of the suspect, but have indicated that he was being investigated for his roles in the release of what has now become the ‘Tamale sex tape.’

Obscene pictures involving an unnamed young man and several known ladies for weeks now have been circulating on various media platforms.

The videos revealed known young women purportedly made up of nurses, restaurant operators, teachers and business women – some said to be married – from the metropolis engaging in hot sexual bouts at various sex positions on a double bed mattress.

Some of the ladies were taking shower, and the rest going nude and posing for snapshots which subsequently found their way into the public domain.

Parents of the gentleman officially lodged a complaint with the Northern Regional Police Command when the nude pictures went viral on the social media.

It is unclear who might have taken the shots while they were engaged in the sexual escapades, but the Northern Regional Police Public Relations Officer (PRO), ASP Ebenezer Tetteh, earlier disclosed to DAILY GUIDE that they were investigating the matter.

Initially, the pictures were reported to be about 40 shots but what have so far been released are more than double the estimated number, giving cause for concern to some parents.

The leakage has allegedly ruined the marriages of some of the ladies while boyfriends of some of them are reluctant to accept them back.

It is unclear however the motive behind the recordings of these escapades.
Health / Ebola Is A Weapon Of Mass Destruction By America .via Naturalnews.com by octus2008(m): 2:18pm On Aug 05, 2014
Why does the CDC own a patent on Ebola 'invention?'
The U.S. Centers for Disease Control owns a patent on a particular strain of Ebola known as "EboBun." It's patent No. CA2741523A1 and it was awarded in 2010. You can view it here. (Thanks to Natural News readers who found this and brought it to our attention.)
Patent applicants are clearly described on the patent as including:
The Government Of The United States Of America As Represented By The Secretary, Department Of Health & Human Services, Center For Disease Control.
The patent summary says, "The invention provides the isolated human Ebola (hEbola) viruses denoted as Bundibugyo (EboBun) deposited with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention ("CDC"; Atlanta, Georgia, United States of America) on November 26, 2007 and accorded an accession number 200706291."
It goes on to state, "The present invention is based upon the isolation and identification of a new human Ebola virus species, EboBun. EboBun was isolated from the patients suffering from hemorrhagic fever in a recent outbreak in Uganda."
It's worth noting, by the way, that EboBun is not the same variant currently believed to be circulating in West Africa. Clearly, the CDC needs to expand its patent portfolio to include more strains, and that may very well be why American Ebola victims have been brought to the United States in the first place. Read more below and decide for yourself...
Harvesting Ebola from victims to file patents
From the patent description on the EboBun virus, we know that the U.S. government:
1) Extracts Ebola viruses from patients.
2) Claims to have "invented" that virus.
3) Files for monopoly patent protection on the virus.
To understand why this is happening, you have to first understand what a patent really is and why it exists. A patent is a government-enforced monopoly that is exclusively granted to persons or organizations. It allows that person or organization to exclusively profit from the "invention" or deny others the ability to exploit the invention for their own profit.
It brings up the obvious question here: Why would the U.S. government claim to have "invented" Ebola and then claim an exclusively monopoly over its ownership?
U.S. Government claims exclusive ownership over its "invention" of Ebola
The "SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION" section of the patent document also clearly claims that the U.S. government is claiming "ownership" over all Ebola viruses that share as little as 70% similarity with the Ebola it "invented":
...invention relates to the isolated EboBun virus that morphologically and phylogenetically relates to known members filoviridae... In another aspect, the invention provides an isolated hEbola EboBun virus comprising a nucleic acid molecule comprising a nucleotide sequence selected from the group consisting of: a) a nucleotide sequence set forth in SEQ ID NO: 1; b) a nucleotide sequence that hybridizes to the sequence set forth in SEQ ID NO: 1 under stringent conditions; and c) a nucleotide sequence that has at least 70%, 75%, 80%, 85%, 90%, 95%, 96%, 97%, 98%, or 99% identity to the SEQ ID NO:
1. In another aspect, the invention provides the complete genomic sequence of the Ebola virus EboBun.
Ebola vaccines and propagation
The CDC patent goes on to explain it specifically claims patent protection on a method for propagating the Ebola virus in host cells as well as treating infected hosts with vaccines:
In another aspect, the invention provides a method for propagating the Ebola virus in host cells comprising infecting the host cells with the inventive isolated Ebola virus described above, culturing the host cells to allow the virus to multiply, and harvesting the resulting virions.
In another aspect, the invention provides vaccine preparations, comprising the inventive Ebola virus, including recombinant and chimeric forms of the virus, nucleic acid molecules comprised by the virus, or protein sub units of the virus. The invention also provides a vaccine formulation comprising a therapeutically or prophylactically effective amount of the inventive Ebola virus described above, and a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier.
No medical reason to bring Ebola to the United States
This patent may help explain why Ebola victims are being transported to the United States and put under the medical authority of the CDC. These patients are carrying valuable intellectual property assets in the form of Ebola variants, and the Centers for Disease Control clearly desires to expand its patent portfolio by harvesting, studying and potentially patenting new strains or variants.
Dr. Bob Arnot, an infectious disease specialist who spent time on the ground in developing nations saving lives, recently told Judge Jeanine, "There is no medical reason to bring them here, especially when you see how well Dr. Bradley was." (2)
There is, however, an entirely different reason to bring Ebola patients to America: so they can be exploited for medical experiments, military bio-weapons harvesting or intellectual property claims.
Surely, medical authorities at Emory University and the CDC are working hard to save the lives of the two patients who have been transported to the U.S. But they are also pursuing something else at the same time: an agenda of isolating, identifying and patenting infectious disease agents for reasons that we can only imagine.
Only hoping to save lives?
On one hand, it's worth pointing out that the CDC's patent on Ebola is at least partially focused on methods for screening for Ebola and treating Ebola victims with drugs or vaccines. This seems like a worthwhile precaution against an infectious disease that clearly threatens lives.
On the other hand, why the patent? Patenting Ebola seems as odd as trying to patent cancer or diabetes. Why would a government organization claim to have "invented" this infectious disease and then claim a monopoly over its exploitation for commercial use?
Does the CDC hope to collect a royalty on Ebola vaccines? Is it looking to "invent" more variants and patent those too?
Make no mistake that billions of dollars in profits are at stake in all this. Shares of Tekmira surged over 11% last Friday as pressure was placed on the FDA to fast-track Ebola vaccine trials the company has set up. "Health campaigners have started a petition which has already been signed by approximately 15,500 people on change.org pressurizing FDA to approve the drug in the minimum possible time frame," reports BidnessEtc.com. (3)
Carefully scripted medical theater
With this, we start to see the structure of the elaborate medical theater coming together: A global pandemic panic, a government patent, the importation of Ebola into a major U.S. city, an experimental vaccine, the rise of a little-known pharmaceutical company and a public outcry for the FDA to fast-track the vaccine.
If Act II stays on course, this medical theater might someday involve a "laboratory accident" in a U.S. lab, the "escape" of Ebola into the population, and a mandatory nationwide Ebola vaccination campaign that enriches Tekmira and its investors while positioning the CDC with its virus patents as the "savior of the American people."
Yes, we've heard this music before, but the last time around it was called Swine Flu.
The formula is always the same: create alarm, bring a vaccine to market, then scare governments into buying billions of dollars worth of vaccines they don't need.

Ebola attacks every organ and tissue in the human body except skeletal muscle and bone. It is a perfect parasite because it transforms virtually every part of the body into a digested slime of virus particles.
The seven mysterious proteins that, assembled together, make up the Ebola-virus particle, work as a relentless machine, a molecular shark, and they consume the body as the virus makes copies of itself. Small blood clots begin to appear in the bloodstream, and the blood thickens and slows, and the clots begin to stick to the walls of blood vessels. This is known as pavementing, because the clots fit together in a mosaic. The mosaic thickens and throws more clots, and the clots drift through the bloodstream into the small capillaries, where they get stuck. This shuts off the blood supply to various part of the body, causing dead spots to appear in the brain, liver, kidneys, lungs, intestines, testicles, breast tissue (of men as well as women), and all through the skin. The skin develops red spots, called petechiae, which are hemorrhages under the skin. Ebola attacks connective tissue with particular ferocity; it multiplies in collagen, the chief constituent protein of the tissue that holds the organs together. (The seven Ebola proteins somehow chew up the body's structural proteins.) In this way, collagen in the body turns to mush, and the underlayers of the skin die and liquefy. The skin bubbles up into a sea of tiny white blisters mixed with red spots known as a maculopapular rash. The rash has been likened to tapioca pudding. spontaneous rips appear in the skin, and hemorrhagic blood pours from the rips. The red spots on the skin grow and spread and merge to become huge, spontaneous bruises, and he skin goes soft and pulpy, and can tear off if it is touched with any kind of pressure. You mouth bleeds, and you bleed around your teeth, and you may have hemorrhages from the salivary glands-literally every opening in the body bleeds, no matter how small.
The surface of the tongue turns brilliant red and then sloughs off, and is swallowed or spat out. It is said to be extraordinarily painful to lose the surface of one's tongue. The tongue's skin may be torn off during rushes of the black vomit. The back of the throat and the lining of the windpipe may also slough off, and the dead tissue slides down the windpipe into the lungs or is coughed up with sputum. Your heart bleeds into itself; the heart muscle softens and has hemorrhages into its chambers, and blood squeezes out of the heart muscle as the heart beats, and it floods the chest cavity. The brain becomes clogged with dead blood cells, a condition known as sludging of the brain. Ebola attacks the lining of the eyeball, and the eyeballs may fill up with blood: you may go blind.
Droplets of blood stand out on the eyelids: you may weep blood. The blood runs from your eyes down your cheeks and refuses to coagulate. You may have a hemispherical stroke, in which one whole side of the body is paralyzed, which is invariably fatal in a case of Ebola. Even while the body's internal organs are becoming plugged with coagulated blood, the blood that streams out of the body cannot clot; it resembles when being squeezed out of curds. The blood has been stripped of its clotting factors. If you put the runny Ebola blood in a test tube and look at it, you see that the blood is destroyed. Its red cells are broken and dead.
The blood looks as if it has been buzzed in an electric blender.
Ebola kills a great deal of tissue while the host is still alive.
It triggers a creeping, spotty necrosis that spreads through all the internal organs. The liver bulges up and turns yellow, begins to liquefy, and then it cracks apart. The cracks run across the liver and deep inside it, and the liver completely dies and goes putrid. The kidneys become jammed with blood clots and dead cells, and cease functioning. As the kidneys fail, the blood becomes toxic with urine. The spleen turns into a single huge, hard blood clot the size of a baseball. The intestines may fill up completely with blood. The lining of the gut dies and sloughs off into the bowels and is defecated along with large amounts of blood. In men, the testicles bloat up and turn black-and-blue, the semen goes hot with Ebola, and the nipples may bleed. In women, the labia turn blue, livid, and protrusive, and there may be massive vaginal bleeding. The virus is a catastrophe for a pregnant woman: the child is aborted spontaneously and is usually infected with Ebola virus, born with red eyes and a bloody nose.
Ebola destroys the brain more thoroughly than does Marburg, and Ebola victims often go into epileptic convulsions during the final stage.
The convulsions are generalized grand mal seizures-the whole body twitches and shakes, the arms and legs thrash around, and the eyes, sometimes bloody, roll up into the head. The tremors and convulsions of the patient may smear or splatter blood around. Possibly this epileptic splashing of blood is one of Ebola's strategies for success-it makes the victim go into a flurry of seizures as he dies, spreading blood all over the place, thus giving the virus a chance to jump to a new host-a kind of transmission through smearing.
Ebola (and Marburg) multiplies so rapidly and powerfully that the body's infected cells become crystal-like blocks of packed virus particles. These crystals are broods of virus getting ready to hatch from the cell. They are known as bricks. The bricks, or crystals, first appear near the center of the cell and then migrate toward the surface.
As a crystal reaches a cell wall, it disintegrates into hundreds of individual virus particles, and the bloodlings push through the cell wall like hair and float away in the bloodstream of the host. The hatched Ebola particles cling to cells everywhere in the body, and get inside them, and continue to multiply. It keeps on multiplying until areas of tissue all through the body are filled with crystalloids, which hatch, and more Ebola particles drift into the bloodstream, and the amplification continues inexorably until a droplet of host's blood can contain a hundred million individual virus particles.
After death, the cadaver suddenly deteriorates: the internal organs, having been dead or partially dead for days, have already begun to dissolve, and a sort of shock-related meltdown occurs. The corpse's connective tissue, skin, and organs, already peppered with dead spots, heated by fever, and damaged by shock, begin to liquefy, and the fluids that leak from the cadaver are saturated with Ebola-virus particles.
Politics / Us-africa Summit: Obama Orders Ebola Screening Of African Leaders Summit by octus2008(m): 11:25am On Aug 04, 2014
African Leaders attending next week’s US-Africa Leaders Summit in Washington D.C. will be screened for Ebola, President Barack Obama has announced.

At least 730 people have died from the outbreak in Liberia, Guinea, and Sierra Leone.

Nigeria also, recently, recorded one case. Some 1,300 people have been affected by the viral outbreak since March.

The haemorrhagic fever kills 90 percent of patients within days. It is transmitted through direct contact with infected persons, as well as the consumption of apes and bats.

About 50 African Leaders, including President John Mahama of Ghana, are flying to the US for the three-day Summit as the outbreak, described by the World Health Organisation as the worst ever, rips through the Continent.

Obama told journalists at the White House, ahead of the Summit that: “…Keep in mind that it is still affecting parts of three countries, and we got some 50 countries represented at this summit.”

“We are doing two things: with respect to the summit itself, we are taking appropriate precautions. Folks who are coming from these countries that have even the marginal risk or infinitesimal risk of having been exposed in some fashion, we are making sure we’re doing screening on that end as they leave the country; we do additional screening when we are here. We feel confident that the procedures that we put in place are appropriate,” he said.

The summit is intended to "build on the progress made since the President’s trip to Africa last summer, advance the Administration’s focus on trade and investment in Africa, and highlight America’s commitment to Africa’s security, its democratic development, and its people," according to the White House. It is the largest event any U.S. president has held to welcome African leaders.

Attendees will visit the White House, the State Department, the World Bank and Capitol Hill.

The Ebola outbreak is keeping leaders from Liberia and Sierra Leone from attending.

Sports / Ex-footballer Odartey Lamptey Discovers 3 Kids With Wife Are Not His After 20 Yr by octus2008(m): 2:21pm On Nov 29, 2013
Nii Odartey Lamptey, the former Ghanaian international footballer has revealed that he recently found out that all three children he had with his wife of almost 20 years are not his biological children.

He made the shocking revelation in a radio interviewed when asked why he was divorcing his wife.

"...I thought they were my children but upon a DNA test, I got to know that they are not my biological children. The issue is in court so I'm pleading, because it is a legal issue I don't want to go through so many things, but I am 100% sure that the children are not mine after 20-years of marriage.

We had five children but two passed away so we were left with only 3 and they are not mine" The former Aston Villa player told reporters

Meanwhile, his estranged wife Gloria Lamptey (pictured above) is claiming that it was Lamptey who suggested they use artificial insemination after realizing he was infertile.

A claim Lamptey denies. A close friend of the former Anderlecht footballer said he'd on several occasions caught his wife cheating on him but stayed with her because of his love for her and the businesses they own together.

The estranged couple are now in court

Politics / NDC Chairman Owes ‘waakye’ Seller GH¢4,000 by octus2008(m): 7:19pm On Oct 30, 2013
DAILY GUIDE has gathered that a court in Takoradi has ordered the sale of the residence of Mohammed Alidu, the Effia Constituency Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Western Region, to defray a debt he owes a popular “Waakye” seller in Takoradi called ‘One in Town.’

According to sources, during the 2010 biometric registration exercise, the NDC chairman allegedly bought “Waakye” from ‘One in Town’ on credit to feed the party’s polling agents who were assigned to monitor the various polling stations in the constituency.

A source within the ruling NDC in the Effia constituency told DAILY GUIDE that the constituency NDC chairman was indebted to the tune of over GH¢4,000 at the end of the exercise.

Reports said the constituency chairman allegedly failed to settle his indebtedness.

DAILY GUIDE gathered that efforts by the popular Waakye seller, One in Town to retrieve her money from the Effia NDC chairman proved futile and so she initiated legal action against the chairman.

In an interview with DAILY GUIDE, Nii Markwei Dawda, the Propaganda Secretary of Kwesimintsim Constituency confirmed the story and expressed dissatisfaction with the attitude of the Effia NDC chairman.

He alleged that during the 2010 biometric registration exercise, Effia and Kwesimitsim were under a constituency and that the national executives of the party gave the constituency an amount of GH¢24,000.00 to be used to cater for the needs of the party’s polling agents assigned to the various registration centres.

According to him, the money was supposed to be used for the purchase of food for the party’s constituency agents, among other things.

“So I can’t fathom why Mr. Alidu could owe the Waakye seller a whopping GH¢4,000,” he indicated.

He told DAILY GUIDE that the constituency chairman had suggested at certain quarters that proceeds from a public toilet under the management of the Kwesimitsim branch of the party should be used to defray the debt, adding that he would fiercely resist any attempt by Mr. Alidu to get the toilet money.

He explained that the proceeds from the public toilet given to the constituency by the Sekondi-Takoradi assembly were used to manage the constituency office.

When DAILY GUIDE called the Effia constituency chairman of the NDC, he indicated that he was in a meeting.

However, speaking to KYZZ FM in Takoradi, the Effia constituency chairman of the NDC revealed that the money released to the Effia-Kwesimitsim constituency during the 2010 biometric registration exercise to cater for the needs of the polling agents was insufficient.

He indicated that there were 96 polling stations in the constituency and that each of polling station had two party agents, adding “the exercise was also done in 40 days”.

He mentioned that because the money was insufficient, he had to use his funds to properly take care of the polling agents.

“I needed to be there for them. At a point I became sick and so I could not pay for the Waakye we credited. I then suggested we use the proceeds from the public toilet to pay the woman, but some people within the party did not agree,” he added. grin grin grin
