PoliticsRe: Pictures Of Murtala Mohammed International Terminal by Od31(m): 3:34pm On Jul 06, 2013
omoeso: Seriously, I don't know what people are celebrating here, I believe lots of guys praising all heaven here has not been to this airport before. The poster should extends his high praise pictures to some other areas and tell us how the government has really messed up this airport.
Starting from the parking lot, its a total disgrace. Even though the parking toll was increased 3months ago from N150-300 for cars and N200-400 for jeeps, the parking lot is a total disgrace. The roads are so terrible, pot-holes every corner and filled up with beggars and touts. I believe they should take a clue from the MM2 multi storey parking lot that was built my a private firm.
Another serious grey area is the departure/arrival lounge. not a single chair to sit down. u see travellers and users all sitting on the floor while some just spread cloths on the floor to sleep while waiting for their love ones. its indeed an eye-sore.
Well, I need not mention non existence of coffee centres, relaxation spots, non VIP restaurants etc. and yes, the almighty begging that goes on at the airport. right from the customs officials, to the immigrations and the so called SAHCOL officials that keeps begging you to give them money at every point. Annoying.
Mr poster, all this GEJ is working syndrome you are promoting here na wash. some of us surely know better. Try again.
Point of Correction! there are VIP resturarant, relaxation spots, coffee centres! You really do not know MMA! after u pass customs to departures, you will see all these centres upstairs, you have them. So do say there are no VIP resturants, on your next trip, ask and you will be shown where they are! Maybe you have not been to Nigeria for quite some time!

all4naija: First and foremost, I am not a civil or building engineer . And, that is no reason to see my observation as though poor.

The foundation is very fragile and I think the dug out foundation is covered in slim mixed concrete before bricks are laid on it. I expect the whole foundation to be concreted up to 2 feet high before laying the bricks. The building is in the tropical region with a very high humidity and it wouldn't take long before the foundation start crumbling or wearing away after much soak in wetness.

Those working on the building seem to be doing the job without taking things into perspective like need for a stronger pillars and need for a better beams where mat is required to coming before filling each section with the red earth.

I think this building work is done haphazardly without having anything in mind about high quality. Still very odd merely looking at what has been done so far.

Thank you.
You say you are not a civil or a building engr, yet you want to give a professional, technical advice and verdict on his work? Na wah oh! Nigerians!, it is better you keep quiet and learn or ask questions so you get so informed. You have no basis to give technical advice on subject or area where you are not an experienced professional or even a "theoretical professional". Oga Spyder Well done jor! Keep up the good work!!

PoliticsRe: Jang Is Old Enough To Be Amaechi's Father by Od31(m): 1:48pm On Jun 28, 2013
Goddex: Jang was military administrator of two states and now a two time elected governor of Plateau state. All together, he has been governor four times. He was governor of two states when Ameachi was a nobody. He knows exactly what he is talking about. Ameachi is not Jang's mate.
I don't understand how people think. We in democracy! It is not age and or how many times Mr Jang has been a gov. the fact that he contested an election with someone and lost, His experience and age should have made he civil enough to either conceed defeat or go to court to seek redress if there he feels there was something wrong with the election process that gave Ameachi 19 votes. He announcing that he is the chairman of NGF when he lost the election is very very undemocratic.
If he is not ameachi's mate while did he contest? Nigerian Mentality. They are both Governors of different states so they are Mates.

PEN_MIGHT: Amazing! I ve perused through the posts and I can see that the learned ones have spoken, albeit professionally. Few ones too, though might not have a direct authority in the built environment, have helped to set values for post construction evaluations. The eyes are passionately watching!
But let's leave all matter of distractions like wood et all so as to focus on the project at hand.

Certainly,we have not been furnished with enough information to conclude on this project's feasibility or otherwise.

TIME,COST and QUALITY are variables that can only be ascertained to be OK only when interpreted alongside the Project Documents( drawings, specifications)

A 5 bedroom duplex does not necessarily mean 'a mansion'. A 3 Bedroom detached Bungalow might actually be more luxurious than a portable duplex. The designs(architectural, structural and services) make d whole lot of difference here!

Being a duplex necessarily doesn't meant the First Floor slab spans all through the entire building.
There might actually be a 'big' void somewhere. Just saying! I believe the 8.8m is a fair deal if it is not another Asari Dokubo's PH mansion!

Project Duration -60 days. That isn't too short. I'm sure the versatile spyder will multi-task. The major challenge is allowing the curing of first floor concrete which ordinarily should take 24 days but usually not observed. Before the stage,no resting. The critical path sets in here.

SAFETY FIRST- There is no challenge in such a time-conscious work more than ensuring structural safety.
@ Oga Spyder, pls just get the optimum ( not lowest pls) cost on your concrete works and you would ve been a success we always known u for.

U re inspirational. Wish u the best and good profit....
Very well said my brother! Spyder has been an inspiration with vast experience! there are no more Obio-akpo boys! once you have the LG approval. But Spyder make sure your client has started the State Approval process, they call it MOT approval, and also see MOT task force people, because the MOT approval takes time to come out. Thereafter you have no problem. Best of Luck Spyder! You have a target dont let all most of the comments here discourage you. It is a possible achievement. We will all learn from it.

spydee411: Did you say 8.8million Naira for a detached house. The budget it not feasible my brother! That money can barely get u to decking not to talk of roofing or plastering
Na wah oh, if them give you 8.8m, you will spend all only from foundation to decking and come say money don finished because na port harcourt. Na wah oh. Make una wait for him to finished, 8.8m is a lot of money, for foundation to roofing alone it is possible may just small adjustment. Since he has his guys from Enugu to work with him, he will save some money, Labour in PH is expensive.

Black Peni5: This is one of Nigeria's biggest problems...We always want to be given special treatment even when we are doing our Jobs.

He was paid for playing for Nigeria. Its not like he was doing charity work and now he is saying he was used.

Rubbish.
The clubs that takes care of players during the injury, also pay them huge salaries. why not the club tell them they are paid for playing so if they sustain injuries, they should go take care of themselves! Your comment shows how much value we place on people and also how backward nigerians really are! No for the citizens, environment and .. many more.

PropertiesRe: Building A 5 Bedroom Duplex In Ebonyi State by Od31(m): 1:21pm On Mar 07, 2013
spyder880: Yes its necessary. It will help preserve the pit from pressure coming from the compaction of the surrounding soils. It will also prevent downward pressure, some people park cars and other heavy objects on top of their toilet waste tanks. Remember to do a lintel to connect the pillars also. Also do a deck on it. Budget N150k for an average sized pit.
Thank you so much for your response. I am blessed with this enlightenment! This amount for labour + materials?
PoliticsRe: Buhari's Speech At Africa Diaspora Conference London by Od31(m): 9:48am On Mar 07, 2013
bubadaniel13: Shame on General Buhari,i don't see a british or American citizen saying a bad thing about his/her country abroad,General Buhari keeps proving to us that he is not a good leader...
I dont think you know what you are saying! What are the bad things do you what an American citizen to say about American. American is the Most developed country in the whole, the most powerful, the riches country in the world, what do u bad thing do you what them to say. Na wah for Nigerians! Nigeria needs to be fixed, that is the bottom line. With all the wealth, we are not suppose to be in the poor state as the situation is now.
PropertiesRe: Building A 5 Bedroom Duplex In Ebonyi State by Od31(m): 8:26pm On Mar 06, 2013
Oga Spyder, pls let me ask one question, is it necessary to put pillars (4 or 6) on "suck away", what is the average cost of construction an average "suck away".
I will appreciate your response!
Car TalkRe: Why Do Nigerian Women Drive Sluggishly? by Od31(m): 3:43pm On Mar 04, 2013
deepwaters :
I've heard so much about women's so-called unskilled driving... Not saying its true or not, but at least women have less road crashes than men, right? And for me, arriving at my destination in one piece is the most important thing, even if you'll be labeled sluggish driver.
I agree with you totally! That you drive speed does not make you a good driver! The fact is that they get to their destination safely and on time (at the right time). how many accidents on the road that female drivers are involved in?
Drive safely. Speed kills!

Hi Spyder880, I have been a silent follower of your treads for a while now, I must say, I am impressed by your work, honesty, professionalism. I must say the grace u have to open up to the public and the willingness to have others learn from your experience is quite awesome. I have learnt from u, and got the courage to start a 5 bedroom Duplex also. May God continue to reward your efforts with divine favor and enlargement!
