Fela wasn't a saint by all means, don't know if anyone remember s the huge traffic caused every evening when he goes to his shrine @ ojuelegba. In the olden days, human sacrifice was observed when an Ooni departs. Ife elders are on record that when Oba Sijuade ascended the throne, he declared that instead of human beings, rams should be used. We want to see this ram. If humans are used instead, the chiefs should be jailed. Period.

I totally abhor this unnecessary human sacrifice its nonsense to say the least but problem is those that r highly placed in our society even govt. Secretly give approval to this barbaric act.

Couldn't have said it better if we don't challenge tradition/culture we are going to be cocooned in our shell and not evolve. I am totally against this human sacrifice for fellow human, its so silly. I am perfectly with you coming from a royal lineage myself used to agree with tradition but overtime I have given it deep tot and wonder the reason we must continue on this path, if the owner of Facebook or Richard Brandon had sacrificed 8 heads to move man kind fwd I wldnt have minded but? Rich cultural beliefs and practice. No tribe should ignore it's beliefs cause of modernization. Moreover, if only the govt are less self serving and can open their eyes, the culture and tradition of the different tribes in Nigeria can be a major foreign exchange earner
