Does governor have any money
It is law that gives him power
Did he bring any money from his house to a Government House
If he does not obey the law they will impeach him
Tinubu's government will not send him a kobo of allocation outside the law.
All the House need to do is pass a law with two thirds majority and the FG will send them their money directly. They can even stop the governor receiving money from the FG by passing a law to that effect

Because you are used to seeing compliant Houses you do not realise how powerful the House is.?
The House can freeze all bank accounts of the state and the banks must comply .
Oga, you have little or no understanding on how legislators are run. Their budget are funded by the executive/governor that is the constitution of FG, Tinubu has no any right to send money or fund an isolated state legislation, nor will National Assembly wake up one day to change the constitution because of Rivers State. How state house of Assembly and LG is being funded are is well spelt in Nigeria constitution, State Assembly has no constitutional right over it.

From speaker to COS
@Mrksquare I see Ehie's move from an elected position(House of Assembly member) to an appointee(COS) as kind of weird.
What's your view about it?
But Femi Gbajabiamila resigned from his elected position to take the role COS to Tunubu likewise other legislators resigned to take ministerial roles. What is more weird than that?

aribisala0:

I think it is the governor that needs to get to the Speaker
They have passed a new law and the governor has no control over their money.
But the governor needs the House to approve his budget
A governor is only more powerful than a House if the House is divided
Fubara failed in his attempt to divide the House and that is why this person is no longer in the House. There will be an election to replace him
Let us see whether FUbara or Wike chooses that replacement
Does legislative has any money? It's the president/governor that fund the legislators. Which money are they going to control with the new law if the governor failed to fund them?

DeOTR:

You certainly don't know what you're saying. The closest elected officials to the people are the council chairmen in the FCT and they don't seem to know what they're doing.
These kidnappers have been operating in the FCT for as far back as 2021 (that's the ones I know of).
They kidnapped a vehicle together with the passengers along Gwaz-Kwali road. Kidnapping people in their homes in Yangoji was a weekly routine. They even kidnapped a traditional ruler in Rubochi.
All these times, nobody cared. I don't know why all of a sudden they're now pretending as if it started last week.
You that knows what you are saying, how does your submission her counter what I said?

In any case what role does she have to play in stemming insecurity in Abuja? Wike and the President met with security agencies, wike was instructed by the president to go on a confidence building tour in the Area council, what exactly does he need this woman for?
The truth you failed to see is that the Senator is more influential than the Minister in the zone, even more influential than the president in Abuja. They see those two as an outsider. The minister toure will yield little or no result without their elected officers. Let me ask you a simple question and be honest to answer it. Let's assumed PDP is in government in federal level and there is a crisis in Lagos and the PDP government send delegates to visits Lagos, do you think the delegates will make any inroads without APC representatives from Lagos?

work with her in what capacity? Did the fomer senator representing fct work with the former minister? What exactly does she want? Wike has been on a tour to the 6 local council, he has been to 2, he'll visit 2 this week, he's interacting directly with the locals with the help of his friend Philip Aduda, this woman insulted wike last year for no reason, Wike owes her nothing and he's not obligated to her
Alright, any decision taken by the politicians, should not indirectly affect the masses.

Madam concentrate on your work, in other states, do Senators harass their governors for not carrying them along? Why are you scared? Aduda is wikes friend.
Leave politics and sentiments aside, she was elected to represent the zone, the minister has no options but to work with her irrespective of political inclination. Wike working with her doesn't erase his friendship with Philip Adudau.

Hilltop UNN was known for cultism during my days, I was friends with most of them but I never joined. It saved me alot from intimidation because everyone on campus thought I was a cultist and they feared me because I was always in the midst of cultist..my lodge then had all the males there as cultist except me. Nobody knew I wasn't a cultist because everyone sees me as a bad boy, I was feared in faculty. I remember slapping a lecturer and he still came back to beg me secretly. I enjoyed the aura but I always watched my back oh.
Yea you are right, I think my Cousin was a kind of shield to me to some extent. Almost everybody in my faculty thought I belong because once in a while he do come with his group to visit me; even when he left, his gang always sees me as their little brother and sometime they will buy lunch for me . It was only once, one of his godson(Ibori) tried to talked me over into it, I told my Cousin and he warned him never to tried that again.

I leaved with them in the back of ZIK flat, UNN. I was innocently living with my cousin who was their Chief Priest then, I was just a jambite. During 2002 court crisis in UNN, I practically faced death when rival group came to look for him, two people were killed in the compound. I thank God for sparing my life that night.

yes what if d oba does not have a child and he dies, would dat mean d throne would be empty... Hereditary monarchy is when d crown remains within a certain family... If d oba of benin dies today and he has no heir to d throne, there are other princes that belong to d ruling house and share d same blood that can seat on d throne.... Abeg read more about hereditary monarchy before responding
If Oba dies today and has no heirs to the throne, his younger brother is next in line to take over. Is not contestable like what is applicable in SW and North. The next in line is already known. A priest can't just wake up and say he want to contest for Obaship as it's done in Ife, Kano, Sokoto, etc. So know the difference. Just like it's done in England.

who told u kano isn't hereditary.. Alot of people in onitsha have claims to d throne... Same with d oba of benin... Go to Benin and you'll see a lot of princes with direct link to d throne or having a late oba has there grandfather or great grandfather.... Na to jst carry one take replace am
You don't understand when they say hereditary. Hereditary id not ruling house(Being entitled to the throne, once you are a prince) but rather from father to the first son of the king. If the Oba of Benin is removed/died today, his first son will automatically take over. It's not contestable nor do they have any kingmaker that will choose the next king for the kingdom out of numerous princes of the kingdom

It's very simple let Tunji go and clear his name, invitation by ccb doesn't mean his already guilty

what we have seen about Tunji Ojo is quite amazing since he took over the ministry of interior, there are so many landmark policies he has been rolling out which are pointing to a wonderful direction

He's company involvement over the on going scandal in the ministry of humanitarian is a big obstacle to what is has set to achieve in his own ministry

Nevertheless I pray to God to vindicate him. He's one of the best minister at moment.
God doesn't vindicate someone that did wrong , leave God out of this.

If the said contracts passed through the normal bidding code and were not influenced by his office, nor, intimidate the Ministry of Humanitarian to award them, then, he is free. His involvement in cabinet doesnt mean a company he was once a director should cease operation.

By the way, you can never get a total saint to bring the needed change in this country. All the people we are clamoring for has one or two cockroaches in their keyboards. Not to even mention Saint Sinless Peter Obi. Peace!
But you clamoured for the removal of Betta Edu, when the said money was not paid directly to her personal account. Hypocrite in high level.

We could like Obaseki to free shuaibu and allow the party primary to go smoothly and freely without influence. When a winner emerges then he can throw his full support to that candidate.
He never stopped him from contesting, mind you Shaibu is not the only one contesting in the party platform. You can't say he didn't allow the primary to go freely when the primary is yet to be conducted.

This is from latest Oxford dictionary

"godfatherism (uncountable)

(Nigeria) A form of political corruption in which an influential individual handpicks another, often less influential candidate, to attain leadership in order to exert authority or influence. This may be due to the unpopularity of one candidate, or to work around incumbency term limits."
This clause "to attain leadership in order to exert authority or influence" that is what makes it godfatherism when someone support you to attain a position. For now, you can't call it godfatherism until these traits begin to manifest.

Davido is an entertainer, showcasing his wealth is social media is part of his entertainment business. You can't say that of his father and elder brother that are far richer than him
