Former Chief Security Officer to late former Head of
State, Gen. Sani Abacha, Major Hamza Al-Mustapha, has
called on the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU)
to call off the ongoing strike as every day lost is a disaster
to the nation, “because we should not be seen as producing
half-baked leaders for this country tomorrow.”
He also revealed that over 22 million young people in
northern Nigeria walk the streets without anything to do hence
his desire to partner the youth for peaceful coexistence.
Al-Mustapha while on a courtesy call on the Emir of Lafia
and chairman
Nasarawa State Council of Chiefs, Mustapha Agwai, noted
that most young people become vulnerable in the hands of
desperate people due to idleness and literacy level.
He also said legal process for his re-induction into the Army
was in progress and would return to service as soon as the
process is concluded.
His words: “I was arrested wrongly, humiliated and
persecuted beyond the definition of law. It is also important to
note that when you regain freedom there is a process you
follow and our legal team is currently doing that and as soon
as they conclude the process I will be back to service.”
He added that his visit to Lafia was to intimate the youths on
his plans to partner with government to engage them in
meaningful ventures.
He denounced insinuations that his tour of states since his
release from prison was not in any way a form of political
campaign for his ambition or anybody’s but to continue with
his humanitarian works which he noted started way back in
1984. He added that his recent tour was anchored on his
desire to calm the rising tension in the land orchestrated by
unemployment.
“And remember, every soldier has sworn and signed to protect
the integrity of his land; that is exactly what I am doing now,”
he insisted.
