emmasoft: With the way inflation numbers are going, expect lower rates everywhere across all fixed income-related investment windows, but DON'T STOP INVESTING, you can only change strategy, don't stop if you still want to win in this investment game This is it. |

awesomeJ: Is this because you're heavy in fixed income?
Cos 27% really helps no one.
The days of 11% MPR need to return. Not really bro True it helps no one especially borrowers. We are getting to the time where rates will be near single digits |

awesomeJ: September inflation at 18.02
We expect another 300- 500bps cut next month. They should retain rates biko or slight reduction. They trying to achieve close to single digit inflation by year end. Let's see what will happen |

ggoldmine: Hi guys. I reached out to Veritas concerning my Zenith Bank's dividend and was told to contact my bank because all dividends have been sent to banks for processing. Does this make sense? Check your bank balance if it's not there, reach out to veritas again. They will give you some forms to complete for processing |

Alaska90: Please can you shed more light on this commercial papers. I just got one offer too from Meristem for PAYAZA AFRICA LTD commercial paper. But I will prefer the Dangonte one. Please can you talk about the risk level, yield value vs Discount rate, how to know which company one to buy etc ....just general knowledge please if you can Commercial paper is short term unsecured instrument(doesn't exceed a year) issued by corporates to fund short term obligations.. They are issued for various reason. See it as similar to Tbills, but here, it's issued by corporate entities and atimes government . It's one of the most attractive available instrument and they are issued at discounted. value. Cp like other investment is not risk free. One is it's not easily tradable before maturity, failure of issuer to pay it's investors etc. Take Dangote Sugar Refinery for example, it has brand reputation, this is not the first time it's coming out to sell cp, I don't think Dangote has defaulted in payment. Please conduct your due diligence on the issuer(company), Check your risk appetite also, Check their ratings, financials, reputation, history and seek advice from your financial adviser |

I didnt see any WHT, maybe they don't charge but you need to clarify if there will be any deduction at maturity. |

kristien4: Is it normal practice for banks to charge 1% management fee/ vat on secondary market treasury bills?? Never experienced that with primary market... I know some banks charge some other fee and don't take WHT. I know few asset mgt that charge only statutory WHT. |

jonnysessy: Hmmmmmm. This tax law is to tie me down perpetually in NGX. I bet you the main aim of Government in all this is to hold down your capital. It happened in the Banks not too long ago; you have N2,000,000 in you account and what to withdraw N100,000. Banks will pay you only N20,000 and ask you to make use of online banking and transfer or even POS. This was when they were promoting their pos agents. You go to the atm machine, you are limited to the amount you can withdraw. You get a bank willing to let you withdraw the N100,000, what you get is mutilated notes. I tire for this country. At the bank you can withdraw more than that amount |

omonikiba: Hi everyone, I’ve been silently following this thread, and I’ve learned a lot, and even started investing myself.
Unfortunately, my account officer has been giving me a lot of trouble. I placed an order for T-bills back in January, but by May, I discovered the money was still sitting in my book balance. When I emailed her about it, she insisted the transaction was done. I asked for proof, and instead of providing it, she said she would cancel and redo it. At the time, I overlooked it because I was overwhelmed with other responsibilities.
Now I’ve asked her to release my money at no extra cost, but she’s defaulting again. I know that if I report to the CBN, I have a strong case - she has no reason to keep holding my funds since she already defaulted.
The irony is, I only recently realized I could have been investing from home myself. In fact, the savings I invested in August have already yielded a good return. I honestly wish I was around to walk into that branch and shout it down It's already 10 months, no good interest.
If she fails again tomorrow, I hope I am right to escalate it to the right quarters. Sorry to hear this. For some, they don't want to release the funds. You can escalate within the bank first before escalating to regulators. |
