olisaEze: . Nnamdi Azikiwe was 33yrs old when he founded the West African Pilot, a newspaper that was an instrument of agitation and enlightening the masses on the need for independence. And subsequently joined the Nigerian youth movement. As well as Chief Obafemi Awolowo who was long active in the politics of his region before he became the premier at the age of 45. Incidentally these men refused to conform to the prevailing status at the time not because of selfish material gain, but because majority of their people were being treated as 2nd class citizens in their own country. Something a good many of our present politicians with the aid of our security forces seem to be doing now. I agree with you that age is not necessarily relative to ideas, but only the youth in any clime have the courage to dare to change their circumstance, not old men who are too set in their ways to proffer a solution in a constantly changing world of difficulties. As long as we are agreed on the fact that ideas are at the core of changing our current predicament, I'm glad. @ bolded - funny that the 'change', currently being enjoyed by Nigerians, was engendered by the old and effected by the youth. My point is that, the young need guidance and the old are there to provide it. The wisdom and strength of youth should be geared, firstly, at seeking out the wise counsel of the elderly before effecting any courage. OfBiafra |

olisaEze: Mr Tonye, I might not agree with all u have written in d past, but i'l agree on 1 thing, u have a good head on ur shoulders .If d "wailers", "zombies" n other catchy names wud stop n think, dey'd realise dt d joke is on us all. Nigeria will neva b changed by old men. The struggle 4independence from colonial rule was not done by old men, but by d youth. U can sai buhari or d*llardinho him frm nw till 2052 but d truth is dt these men r just der 2fix their often times spoiled n over pampered brats in positions of power 2rule over u n ur kids in d very near future, while u foolishly cheer em on. Olisa - The struggle for independence was done by old men. On the year of Nigeria's independence, Azikiwe was 56, Awolowo was 51, Bello was 50, each of them spent at least a decade as non-youths fighting for Nigeria's independence. Compare this to the first coup plotters that wanted to restructure the Nigeria a few years after these men took charge: Nzeogwu - 23, Ademoyega - 25, Ifeajuna - 25. The age is not in question here; its the idea. Nigeria needs to be dissolved but we need both old and young to pull together. Incidentally, it was young men that headed both sides of Nigeria's bloody civil war. One may question their judgement in not negotiating a settlement earlier - its probably the age. OfBiafra |

TonyeBarcanista: First let me thank you for calling me out with your points.
1. With due respect sir I don't see anything worthy of emolulation from book haram terrorists. this is a group that has been killing non state actors, raping and kidnapping. They are cowards and worse than the youths I'm referring to. They are a cancer to the society.
2. As for the Biafra agitators, I admire their determination and zeal even though I don't share in their ideology. I respect their choice despite the fact that I don't subscribe to their form. But I Never called the victims cowards. When I said this is a coward generation, I didn't refer to 100% of youths. There are a percentage of brae men and women but these people are negligible within the larger population.
I'm not exempting myself from this generation of cowards On your first point 'Nigeria' is the cancer of our societies - but I suppose we have to agree to disagree on that. On your second point, there are many Biafran agitators, alive today and risking their lives, that you have called cowards. By the way, what % of youths do you refer to as cowards. My advise to you at this point is to stop digging, although I've always admired your knack of seeing a position through. OfBiafra. |

You have a nerve Tonye!! Generation of cowards ? You should be ashamed of yourself. Although, I'm happy you rightly identified yourself within your definition of coward; sadly you included many Nigerian- youths who have sacrificed their lives to change the status quo for what they believe in. Examine these 2 ongoing instances:
Boko-Haram (BH) - I do not share their beliefs or their approach, but BH have consistently challenged the despotic Nigerian state you alluded to in your write up. Many lives have been lost in their quest to determine their preferred future, in the hope to rid themselves of this crop of Nigerian leaders that have strangled our collective future. We all know their modus-operandi and we all share the pains inflicted by their quests. On this matter, nothing more need be added.
Biafra - It is claimed that a million Biafrans died in the civil war – I suppose those don’t make your cut of youths in this write up, nevertheless the impact of this genocide reverberates in the region. For those that make the cut, they have been risking their lives and losing it while you editorialise on nairaland. They seek (with grave implications) to change the status quo of Nigeria. Notwithstanding their non-violence stance, they have met with castigation from youths all across Nigeria (on laptops by the way), who cheer-on the Nigerian military apparatus as they KILL these agitators of real change. Now listen Tonye, you may not have killed any of these people or even agree with their quest, but do not dance on the graves by calling them cowards. Whatever hope you have for Nigeria is what is being exploited to maintain your bondage in this failed state. Nigeria must seize to be for us so-called youths to determine our futures - the sooner this happens, the better.

It may be possible to make a distinction between Boko-Haram and Fulani Herdsmen by throwing in cows and changing the target location to middle-belt and southern region. This call for our northern overlords to call their 'boys' to order is a vein one, they did not even call BH to order when it was devastating their own region.
This is our problem - we have to deal with it ourselves.
As for me, the call for self governance is a must.

PointB: The Acts of King Mumu son of Hari Chapter 1: 1-24
1. In those days, She-cow and his gang of brigands ravaged the land, and they took daughters as captives from the temple of learning.
2. The people cried unto King Jonah the able son of Locki, saying “Bring back our daughters and slay She-cow for he torments us!”
3. Whereupon the Almajirites from the land of Norte conspired with their devotees from the land of Yoruga to oust Jonah the Able Son of Locki from power.
4. Thus did they address the people saying, “Johah Son of Locki cannot protect you from She-cow and cannot bring back your daughters, but Mumu the cattle rearer, son of Hari will.”
5. And there arose the zealot, Mumu the son of Hari, frail by age, and wrinkled by pain and anger. And he and the people with him took an oath and made a covenant with the people, saying “In 100 days, we will rout She-cow and his gang of terrorists from the land. I will feed your little sons and daughters in our various temples of learning, and make the mighty Dollar same in value as a single Naira! And your able men, I shall give jobs in our orchards, and ten thousand silver coins to those without work. O, good people make me king over you instead of Jonah, and I shall do all these and more.”
6. And these were the men who stood by him, when he thus addressed the people: Atif son of Tifku, Tifni son Nubu, Sara son of Raki, Ob son of Jeh (these men wined and dined with Jonah the Able son of Locki, and several kings before him).
7. Thereupon, the people made Mumu the son of Hari, frail by age, and wrinkled by pain and anger, King over them.
8. On the twenty-ninth day, in the fifth month, two thousand and fifteen years after the death of our Lord, Mumu the son of Hari, frail by age, and wrinkled by pain and anger, began his reign.
9. And King Mumu the son of Hari journeyed to the land of Germania, and upon return called them West Germania, and he forgot also the names of the house which made him king, for his memory often fail him.
10. Thereupon, he journeyed to the United World, without a scribe, to consult with Emperor Omanman son of Balak, the promoter of pervert men, to request for weapons to fight She-cow.
11. But Omanman son of Balak, would not give him weapons, unless he allowed perverted men, openly practice their perversion in his land.
12. And when King Mumu the son of Hari, frail by age, and wrinkled by pain and anger, saw what was before him, he declared to the people “Lo, I am aged, there is limit to what I can do. O people, why didn’t you make me king over you earlier?”
13. Then the people ask King Mumu to appoint men from among them who will help him reign as he’s frail and aged.
14. But King Mumu the son of Hari would not budge, for he found none worthy except himself, and those from his household. He said to the people, “I shall appoint them, in the fullness of time.”
15. Thereupon arose from his among his praise singers, a certain liar, Liar son of Momed. He visited King Mumu the son of Hari in the dead of the night and thus addressed him:
16. “O great and mighty King, thou art stronger than Samson, may you live longer than Methuselah son of Enoch and, may you crush all your enemies like Utman Dan Fodio your great grandfather.”
17. “O wise King, do not tell the people you are old and wrinkled and unfit for the job, for I shall tell them that your sneeze can cure their sick, your cough shall defeat She-cow and his army of terrorists, and your body language will fix the land and make crops grow.”
18. “O good king, even when thou shall tremble, I shall tell the people it is the earth that trembles at thy sight, not thy mighty self. And I shall blame all the ills of our land on our last King, Jonah the Able son of Locki, and the good shall be thy doings.”
19. And when Mumu the son of Hari, has been King over the people for hundred days, he addressed the people, and said unto them, “I did not go into covenant with you, neither did I promise to do anything in hundred days. Though I have appointed my friends, family and loyalists into power, it is within my power and my right as King over you.”
20. And the liar, Liar son of Momed addressed the people saying, “Lo good people, our great King Mumu the son of Hari body language has improved our power; his body language has improved our relationship with neighbors. Rejoice and be exceedingly glad O good people for surely, King Mumu son of Hari’s body language will bring food to our table, oil for our lamps, and fix our road, and defeat all our enemies.”
21. The people murmured, but could not speak out in shame for they have made Mumu son of Hari, King over them instead of Jonah the Able, son of Locki.
22. And She-cow continued to ravage the land, and hold captives. The great dollar continues to oppress the Naira and able sons of the land continue to lose their job, and not a single shilling is paid to any.
23. The people continue to murmur. And the liar, Liar son of Momed, continued to tell the people that the trembling King Mumu the son of Hari's body, is the solution to their woes.
24. And from across the big rivers, there arose another zealot, Nnam the bright, son of Dalu, and he addressed King Mumu the son of Hari thus, “Let my people go!”

It is not at odds to blame GEJ (a biafran), the oil criminals (Alakija, Danjuma etc), misguided militants (Boro, Ken) and all former Presidents. Governors, statesmen etc, for the current situation in the Oil producing areas, they all have a common denominator - sustaining Nigeria . And most of them are well rewarded for their efforts.
They are also members of the Nigerian elite group and they are ALL our problem. They oversee this colony for their western overlords. They have performed like colonizers but with ethnic coloration that disguise and excuse their criminally evil behaviour.
The solution? A dismantling of the empire they oversee. In otherwords the dissolution of Nigeria. Biafrans need to understand that the assurance of our futures is dependent on this fact. This blame game and flirtation with other regions elongates our suffering. The sooner the better.

The use of words like barbaric or primitive when referring to traditions held dear by fellow citizens of this colonial shame called Nigeria is not only disrespectful but extremely condescending to the people of that culture.
I do not agree with the tradition but we can all respectfully bring our points across without adopting the arrogance and language of our colonisers when addressing such controversial cultures.
Please enlightened us on where Nigeria"s laws are contravened by the proposed action, if at all.

The difficulty of defining the eastern region these days may tell the extent of this difficulty with the likes of Niger-delta and South-south putting a spanner in the wheels of the discourse.
However, if we take the idea of development loosely, I suppose a discourse on the boundaries of the eastern region which reflects our modern times may be a good start.

Is the Halliburton case to be probed by PMB? Is Gej regime the only one to be probed by PMB?
Personally I couldn't care less for the probe and arrest of any Nigerian elite even if it is a witch hunt; one less criminal can only be for the common good.
Now consider these scenarios.
"PMB continues the transformation agenda with more transparency of projects."
"PMB forms committee to implement confab report."
My personal favourite - "PMB forms a Government."
Nigerians have lost sight or maybe have no idea of good governance. Governance has been substituted with an elite soap opera with an extensive gallery of their loot and lifestyle.
We so called Nigerians are only prolonging our mockery and pain when we take sides with these thieving elites, while starving at home or slaving abroad.

The proper qualifier for the oppressor you call Hausa-fulanis should be 'the Nigerian state elite'. The elites in all regions of Nigeria are well represented in the oppression of their people.
Also the meaningless term South-south has done more to separate than to unite members of the former Eastern region - forget the word and start using Eastern region or better still Biafra.
Finally, it may already be impossible to negotiate a better union for Nigerians as our elders are compromised and our children have become preys for oppressors. Criminals are firmly at the elms of affairs and are entrenching their criminal dynasty in the Nigerian polical space.
The only course of action now is the dissolution of this shameful colonial drama called Nigeria. Then the colonised masses of all regions can boldly demand the fruits of their lands from their kith and kin, and not from strangers.

The short answer to the Nigerian love of union is economics; simply follow the money and you will see why the northern and western elites want one Nigeria.
I cannot honestly say the people on the streets in those regions will be irrecoverably impacted by a split but the elites will - in short no more plunder of the former eastern region.
One thing is for sure, the status quo has not worked, plus it's getting more difficult to keep dissenting voices down. Even the famous general has settled for payoffs.

yuncka: Before you start reading, I want to let you know that I am also from igbo land (Abia precisely). What I write here is based on observation from current happenings and history. Man in struggle for freedom tend to forget so many factors, as his mind is set on freedom, even lies are justified by him so far as he achieves his freedom through it. Achieving freedom is one thing and enjoying freedom is another thing. I have watched as the whole Biafra struggle suddenly burst into life under the present administration, cool. I have also been opportune to listen to radio Biafra a couple of times. I was highly impressed by the wealth of History and daring attitude of the said director. But before all you loyalist get carried away, I want you to read through patiently so that you don’t put your right foot in your left shoe.
EXPIRY DATE: The timing of the Biafra hype is totally hypocritical. For a fact we know that if Jonathan won the election, Biafra wouldn’t be as loud as you hear it today. For the ones who say Nigeria is expired, I ask you….why did you wait for the result of the 2015 election to come in before discovering that Nigeria is expired? You would have started your agitation well enough in 2014 which is exactly hundred years from 1914. It is obvious that the current vision powering Biafra at the moment is the fact that a Hausa/Fulani man is the Head of State.
PERSONAL GRUDGE: It is obvious from the behaviors and utterances of the Director, that he has a personal grudge against other races. Note I didn’t specify Hausa and Yoruba, because from the way he sounds, he hates so many people. As far as you don’t buy into his ideaology, you are hated….listeners of radio Biafra can attest to his insulting attitude and rage on even people of his tribe. In his recent broadcast, HE WARNED ABA PEOPLE NOT TO LET PASTOR. KUMUYI TO COME TO ABA FOR HIS PROGRAMME, THAT HE IS A YORUBA MAN. SMH! Cursing at innocent coppers for serving in the north, abusing Rochas and other Igbos that have affiliation with Muslim religion. Sometimes I pity for people hailing him, you people are just being tools in his hands in a bid to satisfy his hateful desires.
BAD LEADERS: Igbos has been plagued with bad leaders, ranging from the cowardly Ojukwu to the abusive Director. Yes, you might call Ojukwu your Hero, but face it he initiated the Biafran dream, dragged many into it, didn’t fight in it and ran away to another country, then came back to contest for presidency of Nigeria. we have had many other leaders who have looted us dry and done things for their own benefits, people like T.A.Orji, Mbadinuju, NNamani… the deplorable state of the east is a bone of contention to see if when Biafra comes into light, this same set of leaders will mount the podium and continue their looting. Even in the local level, many Igwe’s have been taking bribe to help propagate bad governance.
GREED: One of the major ills hunting the igbo society is greed. From the community level to national level, it is very much evident. Out of greed many of our leaders have sold the entire Igbo nation, we can’t lay claim to our own resources because of the greed of the selected few. We breed greed even from our own personal desires to better ourselves. Many communities are agitating for autonomy, while different groups are agitating for their own state, unknown to you, you keep watering down your strength and breeding disunity. Little wonder our kings are very powerless and full of greed…in one state you can get up to 50kings.
DIVISION AND SCRAMBLE FOR POWER: Like I highlighted in above, greed has resulted in division amongst us. Even as I write this piece, many groups are agitating for their own state (equity, Adada, Aba, etc) many states in the east are having border issues, while so many communities are having disagreement over one piece of land or the other.
DIPLOMACY: Earlier this year, Biafra was recognised and invited to a UN meeting. That was the perfect opportunity needed to start establishing a diplomatic relationship. Get to meet many Nations and tell them your goal. Form a good alliance, so that even when you get what you want, you will have strong countries in alliance with you.
GOOD STRATEGY FOR WRONG PEOPLE: Like I said, Diplomacy will be more beneficial than the seed of war being sown by the Director. You take your inspiration from the fact that the boys in the CREEKS did it, and boys from SAMBISA are yet to be found. The words in capital letter are names of places not inhabited by human. They were hard to track in the landscape….but in the case of Biafra, there is a defined territory known as Eastern Nigeria that experienced the heat during the civil war. Unless you want the repeat of the same event, then desist from being an apostle of war. The war lasted 3yrs at that time because we had allied countries helping out, but now that Nigeria has strong Diplomacy with almost all the world power…I see dooms day.
IGBO MAN’S IDEA OF FREEDOM: Igbo man’s mentality of freedom is not being cramped in a certain area. An average Igbo man loves to explore foreign lands for wealth. Although the Igbo man has not been fairly treated in various region he finds himself, it will be a worst case scenario when we have dampened further our relationship with these region. We become more than targets. We will be at the losing end because we make more investment than other tribes make in our region.
ALLIANCE: Igbo man hardly forms alliance. We always think we can do it on our own. The reason an Igbo man has not ruled and might not rule Nigeria is because we play politics based on sentiment. Other tribes know this fact prompting them to side-line us in politics. The Director has also maintained that we have our CREEK brothers backing the Biafran vision, really? Asari is not the leader of Niger Delta, he is an aggrieved militant. AND THE DIRECTOR WHO IS AGAINST MUSLIM AS A RELIGION HAS ALSO QUICKLY FORGOTTEN THAT ASARI IS A MUSLIM, VERY HYPOCRITICAL.
FAKE GOSPEL OF CHRISTIANITY: He is the business of calling chukwu abiama, pls that’s not the almighty God, that’s a pagan god from the old igbo traditional religion. We are Christians in the east and anyone who doesn’t acknowledge the name Jesus Christ is not a Christian. A man who can even deny a fellow Christian (pastor.Kumuyi) passage to minister in Aba because of his tribe is not a true Christian. The message of Christianity is love for all irrespective of tribe or color.
PAST EXPERIENCES: I will round up, by reminding us that past experiences are there to place us in a careful zone in future. The Director is plying the old route to freedom. And we all know what happened before. People who are passing through war at the moment are praying that it ends and we are praying to experience it. People in the North leave in fear, many people are homeless, body counts rise per day. Your currency is Naira, do you think you will get it back when you wage this war? Like I said earlier, the Biafran Land is the east and it has a defined territory. Before you follow blindly in agitation for war, look around you and imagine the scenes of air raid, the cries, the body counts, mass burial, and continual exodus….ask yourself if it is what you truly want.

Daniel Igbos stop telling people we are part of your biafra, as 98% of us are not aware/in support of what you are doing over there. …. 98% of south south are not in support/interested in Biafra” I can't be sure if you missed my point wilfully or maliciously but I can tell your intent is to sustain this divided status quo in the eastern region. Nevertheless, the point will be clear to those relevant to our struggle for freedom. The aim remains to dissolve Nigeria. OfBiafra |

Niger Delta, one wonders what advantage this title hopes to achieve, whatever that may be, it's not only short sighted but dangerously unwise.
The fulani's up north converted, raped, subjugated and impoverished other northern minorities, yet they all hold fast to the title, Northerner or hausa-fulani.
The yoruba's did similar to their minorities but all maintain the omo oduduwa title.
Their strength is their unity. As Biafran's, our division is our weakness.
This made up title Niger Delta must be put to rest. We are Biafran's. Their is more that unite us than what divides us.
If we unite under Biafra and forget the myriad of names ranging from Midwest, south south, bendel, Niger Delta etc. We will be stronger and command respect.
We will never have to wait for a Northerner to sanction our needs, while the westerners mock us.

The slavery radar is always alert when blacks deal with other races However when Boko haram in their own words sold the famous chibok girls into slavery; the response was rather lukewarm.
One can only wonder what type of working condition reduces a policeman to being personal security guards for our elite or the highest bidder.
Our union is shameful and this are some of its manifestations. Nigeria must fall before we can rebuild our dignity back.

This regime appear to be very concerned about their public image.
Well, Nigerians have chosen to have faith in this crumbling system and voted for this president, but alas faith without work is useless.

I have very little time for Buhari, however Ohaneze is belittling the Biafran nation with such a resigned declaration . This sort of situations require a bold statement with actionable goals, even for the spineless Ohaneze.
Nevertheless, Ohaneze does not represent the Biafran nation. Their weak attempt to represent the igbo position was never by popular mandate but by empowerment through the murderous Nigerian state.
Nigeria and the current Ohaneze should enjoy the rest of their time because Biafra will come sooner than they think.

Buhari's statement is not only typical but consistent with the Nigerian political structure.
A structure that rewards the north whichever way they vote while the south depends on the goodwill of the commander in chief.
We Biafran's no longer wish to remain in such a skewed union.
However if other southerners are happy to sustain the current arrangement this sort of statements should not come as a surprise.

All speculations depends on the outcome of the Izon meeting, at best Tombolo is 1 good general and the numerous Nigerian generals at least adds up to 1.
My point is that the Izon's have to reach out to their Biafran brothers who share the same vision to guarantee our mutual aims.
We Biafran's seek separation from this shameful union and are ready to work with like minded Izons to that end.

What a loss, I wonder if some kind of compensation can be sought for this sort of business loss - insurance maybe?
I see no problems in what the northerners have done here, it's well in line with their vision of life.
The problem is with the other nationalities that do not share this vision insisting on a shared future as Nigerian's.
I do hope they get their caliphate because we Biafran's will not stop at anything to secure our vision as a separate country.
