The tragic fire incident at Ochanja market in Onitsha which destroyed properties and also claimed lives yesterday October 16, is reportedly still on this morning October 17.



Eyewitnesses alleged that the state government couldn't provide a fire truck and had to borrow from the Delta State Government. The borrowed fire truck reportedly didn't come with enough water which is why there is still fire at the market this morning.

It was further gathered that some of the traders who don't believe in putting their money in banks, had some money in their stores which reportedly got burnt after the inferno. An Anambra OAP, Gwen Divy Ifeson who reacted to the incident shared a photo of the budget allocation to Anambra Fire Service from 2013 till date.



She wrote;

This is the budget of Anambra State Fire service since 2013 till date.
Dear Anambraians,
They must tell us what these monies were used for.
None of the fire service team in Onitsha had water nor good tyre.
In 2016 when such inferno happened at the same spot the government gave lots of promises. We no longer want bed promises we want a proactive measure to be put in place this time.
We must get it right

Tacha has revealed what happened at the diary room after the fight between her and Mercy at the just concluded BBNaija reality TV show.

Recall that the fight between them led to the disqualification of Tacha from the show.

Speaking in an interview with Coolfm on Wednesday, Tacha said she was called into the diary room by Biggie who didn’t tell her anything.

She said, ”The Morning When Biggie called me to the Diary room, I was just sitting there. There was not any talk from him.

”I just sat down on the couch for a while then later, I left and then, I came out from the room and Mercy was still talking’.’

When asked how she would handle the situation if it were to happen again, Tacha said she would simply ignore Mercy.

She, however, stated that Mercy is a better person now and they both have a good relationship.

Nigerian veteran rapper, IllBliss, and Beat Fm OAP, Simi Drey pranked Reekado Banks and his response is quite hilarious.
Simi Drey and IllBliss called Reekado Banks and pretended to be officers of the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS). They asked the “Rora” singer if he got the letters of his outstanding tax payments and insisted that they sent the letters to his record label but had to put a call across after getting no response.

IllBliss informed the singer that his outstanding tax payment is over N12 million and he didn’t sound baffled upon hearing the amount he “owes”. Reekado banks asked them which record label the letters were sent to and explained that his former record label handles his tax payments. IllBliss who probably couldn’t hold his laughter revealed that it was a prank and that he was being recorded on a Live show.

The 2020 Appropriation Bill submitted to the National Assembly last week by President Buhari has scaled second reading on the floor of the Senate.



The upper chamber has subsequently adjourned plenary till 29th November 2019, to enable Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) of government defend their respective budget proposals before the Committees of the Senate.

In his concluding remark during the last day of debate on the 2020 budget estimates, the Senate President, Ahmad Lawan, identified revenue generation as a major challenge of the budget. According to him, the successful implementation of the budget may be difficult to realise until proactive measures are taken to address the situation.



He said: “We are seriously challenged in the area of generating revenues, and it appears that until something drastic is done, this shortage of revenue will continue to militate against the implementation of the budget.

“We have to continuously engage the revenue-generating agencies and schedule quarterly evaluation to be handled by our relevant committee, particularly the Senate Committee on Finance. We need to look at how we can enhance the capital allocation. The shortage of funds will militate against that.

“We have a serious challenge when only thirty per cent is devoted to the capital budget, but that is an improvement from what we inherited from 2014 when the allocation was fifteen per cent. But that is not to say we cannot do better.

On recurrent expenditure, he said “We have so many agencies of government, over six hundred of them and we have to pay.



“Probably, we need to look at how we can streamline the agencies; that is not to say that we will lay off workers, but we must establish the functionality and usefulness of these agencies. We also need to look at the direction of Public-Private Partnership, especially in the laying of physical infrastructure. We can concession our roads, instead of taking money from China.



Lawan, while advocating for a knowledge-based economy, appealed to the Federal Government to create an environment that would create jobs for the youths.

Doctors are warning women to stop putting toothpaste in their vaginas to try and tighten it because it can do some nasty damage to the body.



Vanessa Mackay, consultant gynaecologist and spokesperson for the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists to The Sun: "It is a myth that toothpaste will tighten the vagina.

"Putting toothpaste into the vagina, or on the vulva, would not only be uncomfortable but it could also cause serious damage and disrupt the natural flora of the vagina leading to the potential for infections like bacterial vaginosis and thrush."



She also added that some toothpastes contain small particles that could also cause painful microabrasions to the vaginal walls.



Nigerian doctor, Oluwole Yusuf, also disclosed some of the nasty damage toothpaste can cause to the vagina.



“Toothpaste is caustic and too abrasive for a sensitive body part like the vagina and using such on it can destroy the organisms meant to protect the vagina from possible infections."



“When the vagina can no longer protect itself, the body is prone to infections which could later destroy the tubes and block the chances of getting pregnant."



He urged women not to be "body shamed" by their partners and to be confident in their own skin.



Dr. Yusuf also said that women can resort to exercises or practices to slowly tighten the vagina.



"Kegel exercises and Yoga exercise are part of the exercises that can make the vagina tight without engaging in harmful practices,’’ Dr Yusuf said.



Dr. Mackay also recommends pelvic floor exercises for women who are concerned about the tightness of their vagina.



She said: "There are various different ways in which women can carry out pelvic floor exercises but the easiest is to sit or stand comfortably with knees slightly apart and then engage and draw up the pelvic floor muscles as if trying to avoid passing urine or flatus.



"To check that the correct muscles are being exercised, women can place a finger or thumb into the vagina and squeeze the pelvic floor muscles at the same time, they should feel a gentle squeeze as the muscles contract.



“Women can build up the strength of their pelvic floor muscles by doing ten slow contractions and holding them for about 10 seconds each.



"The length of time can be increased gradually and the slow contractions can then be followed by a set of quick contractions. This process should be carried out three or four times a day.



"In some women, however, vaginal laxity may be due to pelvic organ prolapse, in which case it may be appropriate to be referred to a gynaecologist for an expert opinion."

A woman, Mrs. Jumiah Utache and her three children Faith(9), Domino(2), and one-year-old Daniel have been killed after their house in the Orisha community, Magodo, Lagos state, collapsed during the heavy downpour today Saturday, October 12th.

The General Manager, Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, Femi Oke-Osayintolu, who confirmed the incident, said it happened at number 48, Orisa Street, Magodo Phase One, Isheri Waterfront.



Oke-Osayintolu said the bodies of the deceased mother and children have been recovered and deposited in a morgue. He added that efforts are ongoing to find more people believed to be trapped in the rubble.

The Ugandan government has announced plans to reintroduce a bill that would bring in the death penalty for homosexuals in the East African country.



Five years ago, the ‘Kill the Gays’ bill was nullified on a technicality because it includes the death penalty, but the government has now revealed plans to reintroduce it within weeks.

In a statement by Ethics and Integrity Minister Simon Lokodo, he said: ‘Homosexuality is not natural to Ugandans, but there has been a massive recruitment by gay people in schools, and especially among the youth, where they are promoting the falsehood that people are born like that

‘Our current penal law is limited. It only criminalises the act. We want it made clear that anyone who is even involved in promotion and recruitment has to be criminalised. Those that do grave acts will be given the death sentence.’

He also said that the bill, which is supported by President Yoweri Museveni, will be reintroduced in parliament in the coming weeks, and it is expected to be voted on before the end of the year.



‘We have been talking to the MPs and we have mobilised them in big numbers,’ said Lokodo. ‘Many are supportive.’

Lokodo also said that Uganda is prepared for any negative response over the plans to reintroduce the bill.

‘It is a concern,’ he said. But we are ready. We don’t like blackmailing. Much as we know that this is going to irritate our supporters in budget and governance, we can’t just bend our heads and bow before people who want to impose a culture which is foreign to us.’

Italian club, AC Milan have officially announced the appointment of Stefano Pioli as the new head coach.

The appointment comes after Marco Giampaolo’s sacking was confirmed on Tuesday, October, 8, after just 111 days in charge, the shortest reign of any manager in the club’s history.

According to One Football, Pioli, 53, arrived at Casa Milan this morning (Oct.9) to sign a two-year contract with the Italian club.

The club also confirmed his appointment via a statement on their official website.

‘AC Milan announces the appointment with immediate effect of Mr Stefano Pioli as the new coach of the First Team,’ it reads.


‘Born in Parma, in October 1965, Stefano Pioli began his career as a coach in 1999.

His first coaching experience in Serie A started at Parma in 2006. He then went on to coach several other Serie A Clubs: included, Chievo Verona, Palermo, Bologna, Lazio, and Inter Milan, before moving to Fiorentina in 2017. Stefano Pioli now joins AC Milan on a two-year contract agreement.

According to reports, he was found dressed like a herbalist. A calabash containing some money was also found in the room.
