Politics › Fubara Foresees New Political Structure After LG Poll by Ofunaofu(op): 4:31pm On Oct 01, 2024 |
Gov. Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers says the local government election slated for Oct. 5 will produce a new political structure that is people-oriented in the state.
The governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Mr Nelson Chukwudi, quoted Fubara as saying this when he received members of ‘The Simplicity Movement’ in Government House, Port Harcourt on Tuesday.
The group was led by Chief Sobomabo Jackrich, a candidate of the National Rescue Movement (NRM) in the 2023 gubernatorial election.
Responding to the level of public support demonstrated by the group, the governor promised to continue to defend the integrity of the state in the face of ongoing political challenges.
“We must defend the dignity of our state, we must ensure that the commonwealth of this state belongs to everyone.
”This is the reason for our slogan ‘Rivers First’.
‘We believe that if we put the interest of the state above personal gains, we would have addressed the challenges associated with crime, hunger and unemployment,” the governor said.
He urged the electorate to freely participate in the election.
The governor also said that the election when concluded would help his administration chart the second phase of its struggle. https://www.vanguardngr.com/2024/10/fubara-foresees-new-political-structure-after-lg-poll/ |

When we are all ready to agree they are thieves then we can move forward but d idea of calling your own thief an angel n stoning other people's thieves will never work There's no spade to call Nigeria's history didn't began from 1960 And I have never mentioned that Peter Obi is an angel. There's none. But amongst the crop of presidential candidates in the last general elections, Peter Obi was arguably the best. |

Bsc and Msc holder Vs SSCE, what are we going to use for judgement Why was he running away from TV/media interviews and debates? Just the same way Tinubu ran away from debates and media interviews, and today we are now seeing the effects of his incompetence and cluelessness. |

So his SSCE is more important Just as Tinubu was discovered to be a guinea pig student of government college lagos used to test run the school four years before the school was established only to emerge from nowhere with a first class degree in accounting. |

Politics › ‘I Didn’t Steal As Governor, I’m Ready To Swear With Quran’ -el-rufai by Ofunaofu(op): 1:17pm On Oct 01, 2024 |
The immediate past governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai, has insisted that he did not embezzle public funds while in office, saying he is ready to swear with Qur’an. The former governor said he joined politics solely to serve the people, not to seek money or steal public funds. El-Rufai made this statement during a Hausa program aired on Freedom Radio station in Kaduna on Tuesday morning. He stressed that he was content with what he had even before becoming governor. Recall that the Kaduna State House of Assembly indicted El-Rufai’s administration for allegedly misappropriating over N423 billion during his eight-year tenure. However, the ex-governor and his allies have denied the allegations, claiming they are being witch-hunted by the Assembly and the state government. El-Rufai added that he is prepared to swear on the Quran whenever former state governors and current leaders do the same to affirm they never misappropriated public funds. He said, “I was quiet to see how things would turn out, but for me, I always ask God to help me in whatever I do in life because, as a human being, I always try not to do anything wrong or betray the people’s trust. “I always say that whenever the former governors of Kaduna State and other leaders decide to take an oath swearing with the Quran that they never took people’s money, I’m also ready to swear. This is because I know that I didn’t go into public service to steal or take people’s money. I joined politics only to serve the people of Kaduna State; I didn’t come to look for money, because I give glory to God that I’m content with what I had even before becoming governor. Yet, we were accused of misappropriation of funds during our tenure without being given a specific area where the money went missing or who took it. “Yet they are going after my allies by inviting them to the ICPC and EFCC with the intention of tarnishing their names. As for me, I had already prayed two Raka’at on Friday night, leaving everything to God, seeking His judgment. This is why I’m not saying much about the issue.” https://dailypost.ng/2024/10/01/i-didnt-steal-as-governor-im-ready-to-swear-with-quran-el-rufai/ |
