The City Boy Movement has described the picketing of its headquarters in Abuja by a group of protesters as a politically sponsored action aimed at intimidating its members and provoking confrontation. The group made the allegation in a statement on Friday by its Deputy Director-General for Media, Communications and Public Affairs, O’tega Ogra, following the protest at its office in the Federal Capital Territory. According to the movement, the demonstrators claimed to be protesting insecurity in the country, but their actions suggested a political agenda. “We will not dress this up. What happened at our office was not a genuine protest. It was a sponsored political action aimed at provoking confrontation, intimidating our members, and pinning a false narrative on the City Boy Movement,” the statement said. The organisation acknowledged that insecurity remains a serious national concern but argued that the Federal Government has continued to take steps to address the challenge. The movement cited President Bola Tinubu’s Democracy Day address, in which he warned terrorists and other criminal elements to surrender or face decisive action from the state. “This government has acted, is acting, and will continue to act. On this same day, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu addressed the nation and told those terrorising our people in plain language: ‘surrender, or face the full force of the Nigerian State. The window of surrender will not remain open forever. No mercy will be shown to those who trade in the blood of Nigerians,’” the statement noted. The group also referenced government claims that terror-related deaths had declined significantly in recent years and pointed to increased budgetary allocations for defence and security. It maintained that portraying the government as inactive on security issues was misleading. “So when people show up at our gate, on a day like this, pretending nothing is being done, we know exactly what we are looking at. That is not concern. That is politics. And bad politics at that,” it stated. The City Boy Movement further alleged that one of the individuals present during the protest was captured in a video calling for its property to be set ablaze. According to the organisation, the footage has been preserved and will be handed over to security agencies for investigation. “In video footage from today’s incident, one of the individuals present was heard calling for our property to be set on fire. That is not protest. That is a threat of arson,” the statement said. The group stressed that while it supports the constitutional right of citizens to engage in peaceful protest, such rights should not be used to threaten others or disrupt lawful activities. “Your right to peaceful protest is guaranteed. Nobody disputes that. But what happened today was not peaceful in any meaningful sense,” it added. The organisation said it had notified relevant authorities of the incident and would continue to cooperate with security agencies to protect its members, staff, visitors and property. It also urged young Nigerians not to allow themselves to be manipulated by individuals seeking to exploit public concerns for political purposes. The City Boy Movement reaffirmed its support for the Tinubu administration and insisted it would not be intimidated or distracted by what it described as political harassment disguised as protest https://www.tvcnews.tv/city-boy-movement-alleges-political-motive-behind-protest-at-abuja-headquarters/ |

Op, You are a Tinubu/APC data boy, why bother with what happens in NDC |
Tinubu has reduced the President's Democracy Day speech to nothingness What was once a moment of national attention has become an event many Nigerians barely notice. There was a time when Nigerians looked forward to hearing the President speak on Democracy Day. Whether in agreement or disagreement, people tuned in, stayed glued to their radio and TV because they believed the speech mattered. Today, under Tinubu, the reverse is the case. Many Nigerians do not even know that the President addressed the nation today. That is how disconnected the government has become from the people. A presidency that promised renewed hope now struggles to command public interest. When citizens stop paying attention, it is often a sign that confidence has been lost. Democracy Day should be an opportunity to inspire, unite, and reassure the nation. Instead, it has become another date on the calendar for many Nigerians grappling with economic hardship and insecurity. |
When will Tinubu remember the data boys here They deserve national honours too |

In recent months, any regular Nairalander must have noticed that opinions shared by unverified X accounts are increasingly being used as source links for threads that make it to the front page. It has become so common that one begins to wonder what is really going on. Before now, for a thread to reach the front page, it was usually accompanied by a verifiable news source. These days, however, opinions from unverified X accounts, many of which are notorious for spreading fake news, rumours, and propaganda, are finding their way to the front page back to back Has Nairaland really descended to this level? seun, please do something about it. It's becoming too much and is gradually turning the front page into a breeding ground for misinformation. Cc seun, Mynd44, Nlfpmod, fergie001, Mods |
Oxb90:Tension dey inside the heads of Tinubu data boys |
I was listening, expecting to hear the Supreme Leader say, just as the Nairaland headline thread suggested, "I don't know why Peter Obi can't call his supporters to order." Instead, what I heard was, "I don't know why our leaders can't call their supporters to order." The last time I checked, Peter Obi is not the only leader in the NDC with supporters. I honestly don't understand this fixation on Peter Obi. The obsession with him is so unusual that one might wonder whether he is the President, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, under whose watch Nigerians are being massacred, while schoolchildren and teachers are kidnapped, beheaded, maimed, and subjected to other horrific conditions Why is so much attention directed at Peter Obi while those currently entrusted with the responsibility of governance seem to escape the same level of scrutiny? |

The National Leader of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, Seriake Dickson, has sympathised with aspirants who participated in the party’s recently concluded primaries, acknowledging that the exercise experienced some irregularities. According to a post on his official X handle on Thursday, Dickson said while the primaries were not flawless, members should remain patient with the party as it navigates the challenges associated with its rapid growth. Last night, I had an interview with Arise TV, where I sympathised with our aspirants over some noticeable irregularities in our just-concluded primaries. I noted that, while not claiming that the exercise was perfect, I urged all of them to bear with the party in view of the circumstances we are managing,” he said. According to him, the challenges encountered during the primaries are not unique to the NDC, noting that larger and more established political parties have faced similar issues. Ojú Kálé: Àwọn Ará Ìlú Sọ̀rọ̀ Nípa Ẹgbẹ́ Ìrù Ẹkùn Tí Sunday Igboho Dá Sílẹ̀ Láti Kojú Agbésùnmọ̀mí0:00 / 0:00 “We are just four months old and have been thrown into the middle of a very tight electoral timeframe, within which we had to carry out membership registration, congresses up to the national convention, primaries, appeal processes, and now the reconciliation phase,” he said. The former Governor of Bayela State attributed many of the complaints surrounding the primaries to the direct primary system mandated under the Electoral Act. “My views on the Electoral Act have been clear: the APC-led majority were wrong in foisting compulsory direct primaries on political parties and the country. Complaints about irregularities in direct primaries are pervasive across all parties and are not peculiar to the NDC,” he stated. Despite the concerns raised by some aspirants, the NDC national leader maintained that the party had performed creditably, given its age and the large number of aspirants it had to manage. “As a matter of fact, considering the age of the NDC and the teeming number of aspirants we have had to manage, we have done quite well,” he said. He also dismissed reports circulating on social media claiming that winners had already emerged from the party’s primaries. “No party has announced any set of winners from its primaries, and neither has the NDC. The public should disregard any such claims in circulation, especially on social media, and await the party’s formal submissions through the appropriate channels,” he said. The NDC leader assured members that future primaries would be improved through the adoption of technology. “This is our first set of primaries, and it will also be the last to be conducted manually. The next primaries will be technologically driven and will have none of these issues,” he said. He thanked party members and supporters for their financial contributions and sacrifices, describing the NDC as a self-funded political movement without government officials backing its activities. “I appreciate their donations, contributions, and sacrifices made on behalf of the party. They remain valuable members of our party regardless of the outcome of the primaries,” he said. The former governor further called on members to close ranks and support the party’s candidates ahead of the elections. “We are in this together, and we are all committed to ensuring the success of our party and our presidential team, their Excellencies Peter Obi and Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso,” he said. Dickson also urged party leaders at the state level to actively participate in the reconciliation process rather than assign blame. “It is not a time to shift blame or dodge responsibilities. Since they midwifed and managed the process of the primaries, they should equally help in supporting the party in coordinating the reconciliation process,” he added. https://punchng.com/dickson-admits-irregularities-in-ndc-primaries-begs-aggrieved-aspirants/ |
Kaduna Govt Orders Activist’s Arrest Over Call To Vote Out Tinubu, Uba Sani The Kaduna State Government under Governor Uba Sani has reportedly ordered the arrest of a political activist, Zamani Musa, popularly known as Mycah Dangata, over comments urging residents to vote against the All Progressives Congress (APC). Sources familiar with the development, who spoke with Sahara Reporter, said Dangata was arrested after publicly campaigning against the re-election of President Bola Tinubu and Governor Sani. He was also said to have urged Kaduna residents to reject all APC candidates in future elections. A source told SaharaReporters that Dangata’s arrest followed the circulation of a video he recorded shortly after the APC primaries. In the video, he allegedly declared support for the National Democratic Coalition (NDC) and former Senator Danjuma Laah, while calling for political power to shift to Southern Kaduna. “There is a popular video Dangata made after the APC primaries in which he started campaigning and also declared support for NDC and Danjuma Laah, insisting that power must shift to Southern Kaduna,” the source said. The source claimed that Dangata was arrested by Operation Fushin Kaduna, a security outfit and task force launched by the state government in collaboration with the Kaduna State Police Command and other security agencies. The outfit was set up to combat banditry, kidnapping and gunrunning. “He was arrested by Operation Fushin Kaduna, the state security outfit composed of policemen,” the source said. The source added that Dangata may have angered the government after comparing Governor Sani unfavourably with former Kaduna State governor, Nasir El-Rufai. “I think he must have offended the government by saying that El-Rufai is better than Uba,” the source added. Activist Knocks Sani In a video obtained by SaharaReporters, Dangata, speaking in Hausa, criticised Sani’s style of leadership and political decision-making. He praised El-Rufai, saying the former governor adopted a more people-oriented approach to governance. Dangata also called on residents to unite against the ruling party. He said, “Therefore, everyone who truly cares about Kaduna State should come together so that we can combine our strength and work against the APC from top to bottom. “We should vote out Asiwaju (President Tinubu), vote out Uba Sani, and vote out every candidate presented by the APC.” Dangata accused Sani of imposing candidates on communities. He said, “If you look at the structure of Kaduna State, whether you like him or not, by God, you will admit that Malam Nasir El-Rufai cared more about the people than Governor Uba Sani. “Why? Because Malam El-Rufai would simply allow the people to bring forward whoever they wanted, and he would do his job. But this one will come to your town, and when he gets there, he will personally choose the person he likes and insist that this is the person you must present. “When has that ever been acceptable? What kind of democracy is that? That is not democracy. It is a return to military rule, although even the military did not do things that way.” The activist insisted that residents who care about Kaduna State must work together to defeat the APC. “Therefore, everyone who cares about Kaduna State must come together and join forces to work against the APC. We should defeat the APC because the APC does not want us, and we no longer want the APC either. “Yes, we must work against the APC from top to bottom. We should vote out Asiwaju, vote out Uba Sani, and vote out every candidate presented by the APC,” he added https://www./2026/06/10/kaduna-govt-allegedly-orders-activists-arrest/?utm_source=operamini&utm_medium=feednews&utm_campaign=operamini_feednews |
