Abia State government has said that it would ensure the early release of the Nation newspaper correspondent in Umuahia, Mr. Ugochukwu Ugorji Eke, who abducted by hoodlums at his Ogbor Hill, Aba residence at about 7.30 pm on Sunday. Briefing newsmen at the Government House on the matter, the Commissioner for Petroleum and alternate Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Chief Don Ubani wondered why Mr.Ugorji-Eke will be the target of the kidnapping being merely a journalist who does not constitute a threat to anyone and of the middle class. He disclosed that the state government has risen to the occasion and made necessary contacts with the various security agencies in the state with a view to securing his release and expressed optimism that he will soon regain his freedom. Chief Ubani who further stated that government has made reasonable contact with the family of the victim used the medium to warn hoodlums in the state that government is on top of the security situation and would deal mercilessly with anyone who attempts to dear it. Speaking on the same issue, the Chief Press Secretary to Abia State Governor, Mr. Charles Ajunwa, revealed that the kidnappers dragged the journalist out of his car by 7.30 pmlast night at his residence at Aba and are demanding N20m ransome for his release.

Former governor of Abia state Orji Uzor Kalu was today arrested at the gate of Eagle Square Abuja as President Jonathan declares his re-election bid. Our source said Kalu was arrested when he wanted to force himself into the arena with an unmarked car. Security men at the gate insisted that he should be searched before hewill be allowed, but Kalu who wanted to play smart told his driver to force his way in. At this point the security men ordered him down, searched his car and in the process discovered some strange objects suspected to be bomb. He was promptly whisked away with other female occupants of the vehicle. More details soon

OUK is doomed. He ruined Abia. He will rot in hell for his atrocities |
Abians were really blind during OUK's era as a governor. He's so involved in fetish practices... that is why we have too many poor Abians at that time, today we have metamorphosed to something great. Ochendo being a liberal person naturally disconnected from darkness into light, that was the first stem he took in liberating Abians. It worked. He also brought together under one umbrella all Abia stakeholders who hitherto would not sit on the same table. The intangible achievements are enofmous but we can feel and see it with our spirit mind |
OUK took Abia state 10 years back... Thank God for giving us an educated technocrat to lift us out of donjourn and has placed on a pedestal of greatness. Ochendo Global, your people want you in the Senate, abeg carry go |
desgiezd: OUK has been an IBB boy long before he became a governor even while he was living in Maiduguri.Pls tell us the month and year he was given the award |
What people dont know is that OUK's MON means Madu Oha N'ile... Given to him by the chief priest in Igbere |
...Award Committee cautions OUK on the illegal use of MON title. Unknown to many, the former Governor of Abia State, Orji Uzor Kalu actually lobbied to be given a National Award (MON) but his hopes were dashed. A source at the office of the SGF told our reporter exclusively that kalu gave huge amount to a top member of the award committee to put his name on the list. Kalu's name we gathered actually made the list but he couldn't survive the screening. Our implacable source said that the panel threw out Kalu's name as he was described as a con man. His source of income and character were questionable First, Kalu we learnt couldn't survive the screening as he had years back given himself the title of MON, a development members of the panel described as fraudulent. Secondly, the Panel said that Kalu is not a man of integrity as he, OUK is enmeshed in a degree certificate scandal. Thirdly kalu was disqualified based on intelligence reports which linked him to the death of one Miss Masi in his United States America home and the death of his former editor Dimgba Igwe who died a day after Dimgba confronted him (kalu) for owing them 8 months salary. Our source hinted that kalu was devastated when he heard that he was dropped having boasted to his friends that President Jonathan has assured him of a national award.

The transformation been experienced in Abia today is unprecedented. |
By Emeka Okafor Special Correspondent, Umuahia Not satisfied by the alleged renewed media attack orchestrated by the former governor of Abia State, Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu, against his successor’s administration, political office holders during his eight-year tenure have called their former boss to order. The former political office holders under the aegis of Forum of Abia State Political Office Holders 1999-2007 made the declaration in a communiqué issued at the end of its meeting in Umuahia , on Tuesday . In the communiqué signed by 20 former political office holders under former Governor Kalu they said they were drawn to state the facts on the happenings in the state to correct perceived serialised publications by the ex-governor. Consequently, the former Commissioner under former governor’s administration, Chief ACB Agbazuere described the renewed attacks of their former boss against Governor Orji as “an unveiled affront on the sensibilities, integrity and collective psyche of peace-loving Abians who today are enjoying an unprecedented era of good leadership since the exit of Orji Uzor Kalu.” “As stakeholders of the state and having served under the administration of former Governor Kalu and currently under Governor Theodore Orji we are in the better position to put records straight,” the forum stated. “That the Forum feels satisfied with the level of security, unity and peace that currently pervades Abia State under the leadership of Governor T.A. Orji, unlike what the situation was between 1999 and 2007. The forum further applauded the administration of Governor Orji for the various infrastructural programmes that have transformed the state capital, Umuahia, “which hitherto was a merely glorified village wearing the status of a state capital.” The forum thanked the people of the state for their support to the administration of Governor Orji and enjoined them not to be distracted by the antics of those who allegedly are working against the development of the state under Governor Orji. http://southeastnewsonline..com/2014/09/ex-aides-berate-uzor-kalu-over-attack.html |

Even the desilted drainages have all been blocked. I have never seen people so lawless like people living in Aba. Let their Ngwa person take over, let us see what he is going to do. The little transformation we see in Aba today was as a result of Gov. T.A's intervention. We in Aba are happy for what we have here today. At least our refuse is being catered away at when due and Aba is clean now. Asepa is doing a great job |

I will suggest that the federal government should replicate the Abia Youth Empowerment model. In Abia youth empowerment has never been this good. Our former governor OUK was giving out wheel barrows and cutlass as empowerment tools. What a backwardness. Thank God for a visionary governor TAO who has taken youth empowerment to a whole new level. 3,200 vehicles and 4,500 youths trained in various skills. They were all empowered with start up equipments to start up on their own.
