https://www.nairaland.com/7930154/reno-omokri-nigeria-recorded-highest That was actually GDP growth of Eastern region. It was the fastest growing economy in the world before the war. Nigeria only joined the GDP if Eastern region to to your backwards region |

ariesbull: Enugu City, the proud regional capital of Igbo, akin to Ibadan for Yoruba and Kaduna for the North, has risen from the ashes of war to stand as a testament to the resilience of the Igbo people.
Despite the challenges of war that once leveled the city, the Igbo community's unwavering determination and tenacity have transformed Enugu into one of the most resilient cities in Africa today.
Notably, amidst ongoing developments, The New Golf City in the state and the Millennium City project in Anambra highlight a burgeoning wave of progress. Now is the opportune moment for the Igbo community to channel investments and repatriate funds from the diaspora, fostering growth in the Eastern region.
Recognized as the fastest developing region in Nigeria, Igbo land showcases remarkable advancements. The inter-city rail linkage in Anambra, coupled with the tourist allure of Owerri and the robust infrastructure renewal in Abia, sets the stage for unprecedented opportunities.
In the spirit of the season, we urge everyone to explore Igbo land this Christmas and discover investment prospects ranging from tourism and manufacturing to real estate and hospitality. As the Igbo adage goes, "Onye ndi iro gbara gburu gburu na eche ndu ya noche," emphasizing the importance of bringing prosperity home.
Seize this moment to invest and witness the vibrant resurgence of Enugu City and the broader Igbo region This project started in 2014. See rapid progress |

sunboy: You’re the one who’s arguing pointless here… read my comment again where I said broken English have local or tribal content to it. How’s that an arguement when you’re agreeing to it?? Nobody said Igbos created pidgin nor that it's spoken by Igbos alone. We are saying that the word Ashawo is Igbo word which Igbos borrowed from yorubas and igbonized. If you come to Igboland people use Ashawo while speaking Igbo not while speaking pidgin |

sunboy: Read again where I said it was derived from Ashewo which is a Yoruba word.
Broke English by definition = A type of English that has some element of local content in it. Broken English varies by accent and local content. It doesn’t not have to be derived from an English word. Words like commot … has got nothing to do with English language nor is it linked to any local language… those are broken English words that got adopted and accepted. The Carribean patio is constructed exactly like this too.
To reaffirm, the word Ashewo is a Yoruba word, borrowed by broken English and used across West African countries that speak broken English. In parts, this is accelerated by the fact that most Afro beats originated from Lagos which happens to be a Yoruba state.
Ire o! "Ashawo' is igbo rendering of "Ashewo'. Don't bring your Lagos madness here. Every ethnic language and expressions contributed to pidgin and everybody uses them without knowing the origin Hausa words in pidgin include wahala, wayo, berekete, Hausa expressions include: E don do (it's enough). This is literary translation of "Ya yi" Igbo words in pidgin include tey, una etc Igbo expressions include , think say, know say, hear say etc these are wrong literary translation verbatim from Igbo to English Think say = chere si Know say = Mara si Talk say = kwuru si Many other examples Now the igbo word unu (you plural) was corrupted to "una by another tribe probably south south tribes before it entered pidgin. Jamaican pidgin still use "unu" which is the correct igbo. This was exactly how a Yoruba word Ashewo was corrupted to Ashawo by Igbos before it entered Pidgin |
