Former presidential Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, has described President Bola Tinubu as his father.

Ngelale made the remark while celebrating Tinubu, who clocks 73 today, March 29.
In a statement he signed on Saturday, the former media aide disclosed that Tinubu is the “last man standing” because when all odds are stacked against you, he is rooting for you and guiding you to success.

On September 7, 2024, Ngelale stepped down from his position as Tinubu’s spokesman.​
Ngelale also stepped down as the Special Presidential Envoy on Climate Action and Chairman of the Presidential Steering Committee on Project Evergreen.

A statement by the presidency said Ngelale submitted a memo to Tinubu’s Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila, informing him of his plan to proceed on indefinite leave.

The former presidential spokesman explained that he stepped down to deal with medical matters affecting his nuclear family.

Yes, Wike’s ego makes compromise difficult, but he is a seasoned politician with deep-rooted influence in Rivers State. Even if he loses some ground, he still has strong allies in the political system. On the other hand, Fubara is still struggling to consolidate power. He has not yet built a strong political base beyond Wike’s structure, and this makes him highly vulnerable.

The fact is, Rivers State’s House of Assembly is still largely controlled by Wike loyalists. If this fight escalates further, impeachment becomes a real possibility. Once Wike senses that Fubara is a serious threat, he will likely push for his removal rather than allowing him to complete even one term. We’ve seen this play out before in Nigerian politics, governors who lose control of the Assembly rarely survive.

Fubara needs to rethink his approach. A direct confrontation at this stage is dangerous. Instead of fighting openly, he should focus on gradually weakening Wike’s influence while maintaining the appearance of peace. Otherwise, if this war continues in the open, he may not only lose his second-term ambitions, he might not even complete his first term.
