humberjade: See this one...I am an Ogun person...i am an Ogun West person...and he will win by the special grace of God...talking about education, how many educated people go out to vote? If the literates' votes were to carry weight, Buhari would have bn on his way to Daura by now. SMH.. Since the advent of the fourth republic on May 29, 1999, no incumbent Ogun State governor has succeeded in installing his preferred candidate as successor. The immediate past governor of the state, Otunba Gbenga Daniel, attempted it, but failed. If he is going to win, it's going to be his unit or ward. But I don't really know why people are so Insincere with themselves. You are supporting a man who Is running the party, like a personal estate. Not surprising, when the issue concerning the mode of electing the governorship, National Assembly and State House of Assembly candidates came to the fore, he was quick to opt for a “consensus” method. He unilateral picked his governorship candidate, Hon Adekunle Akinlade, the deputy, Mrs Adebimpe Adebajo, three Senators, nine National Assembly and 26 State House of Assembly candidates. |

When an Owu man feels cheated; he doesn't accept defeat and back-out, he comes straight for the jugular...he really doesn't care if his candidate wins or not, but he's going all out to stop Tinubu from expanding his political empire to Ogun...this is Amoson's last local fight, per-adventure he fails, he will still come back to haunt the Tinubu camp in the future. gabolak: The leadership of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has said it must rescue Ogun workers from some alleged anti-labour practices of the state governor, Mr Ibikunle Amosun.
Mr Ayuba Wabba, the NLC President, made the position of the congress known in a statement on Friday night in Abuja.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that there has been a confrontation between the state governor and the leadership of NLC over non-payment of workers’ salaries and arrears and the recent sack of the NLC state chairman by the governor.
The NLC leadership also accused Amosun of non-remittance of statutory deductions from workers’ salaries and his refusal to pay gratuities of retired state and local government workers since 2013.
Wabba said NLC was prepared for a showdown with the governor if attempts were made to “disgrace the NLC” during its rescheduled March 5, protest in the state, as reportedly threatened by him.
He said the decision to ‘confront and tackle’ Amosun had already been taken by the NLC at its 12th National Delegates Conference and that there was no going back on it.
“The leadership of the NLC has taken cognisance of a statement credited to the Gov. of Ogun State, Ibikunle Amosun, where he threatened to disgrace the leadership of the NLC if the Congress insists on embarking on a protest scheduled for Tuesday March 5, 2019 in Ogun State.
“This was reported by Premium Times on 1st March 2019 and other platforms. Our position is that The Nigeria Labour Congress has taken note of the threat by Governor Ibikunle Amosun.
“But we want to assure him that his threats will not deter us from defending the interest of workers in Ogun State whose rights he has been trampling upon.
” This is especially on the following issues: the non-remittance of statutory deductions from workers’ salaries for pensions, cooperative, ileya, Christmas etc. over a period of one hundred and five (105) months,” he said.
He said that Amosun had refused to pay salary arrears of workers at the Tai Solarin College of Education, according to him, which has accumulated for the past ten years and now grosses to a financial liability of about N9 billion.
“To make matters worse, Governor Amosun sacked the Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress from his employment for standing firm in the defence of the rights of workers in Ogun State.
“The issues we have highlighted are too grievous to be swept under the carpet, therefore, the decision of the 12th National Delegates Conference of the NLC to confront and engage Governor Amosun will be carried out to the letter on Tuesday, March 5, 2019.
“We are not unmindful of the fact that even Amosun’s political party has complained of his penchant to violently disgrace other spheres of leadership outside his control and sometimes beyond him. “We are not unmindful of the fact that Governor Amosun’s hostility to Nigerian workers is primarily a transfer of aggression" ” Our confidence stems from the protection and guarantees provided by Section 40 of the 1999 Constitution, which gives workers and indeed all Nigerians the freedom to peaceful assembly and protest,” he said.
While insiting on the scheduled protest, Wabba added that “All that the law requires us to do is to inform the police and relevant security agencies. “This we have done. We are ready to peacefully protest the grievous mistreatment of our workers in the hands of Governor Ibikunle Amosun on 5th March 2019. “We want to warn Governor Amosun that we will hold him personally responsible for any harm that comes to any worker during our protest on March 5, 2019. “We want to remind Governor Amosun that he has already trampled workers on the ground and those who are down need fear no fall. “We wish to alert our security agencies to Governor Amosun’s resort to violent threats. “We assure him that his immunity cover will soon be removed and he must be ready to answer for his crimes against workers.
“The NLC can assure Ibikunle Amosun that we will continue to engage him even after he would have been sworn in as a Senator in Abuja. “We wish to state that we unequivocally stand with the press statement recently released by our state council on this issue. “We urge all our state councils especially those from the contiguous states to Ogun State – Lagos, Oyo, Osun states who are already fully mobilised for the protest not to be sacred one bit by the threats by Governor Ibikunle Amosun. We have dared and won worse tyrants,” Wabba said.

People talk about amosun not owing salaries. What is deductions called.. Is it not money deducted from your salary. He is currently owning more than 15 salary deductions, owing more than 106 months pensions payment, the last time he paid gratuity for retired civil servants was 2013 even he was given money to pay them. he is owing more than 4 years leave bonuses, in fact too many to mention. Let me break the meaning of deduction. I will use myself as an example, assumimg I'm being paid 100 thousands as my monthly salary, and I use 80,000 Naira as my coperative deduction, that means my take home will be 20000 Naira. But he pays the 20000 that I take home but doesn't pay the 80000 Naira to where I asked it to be going too. He even treated us not to stop the deduction or decrease it but we can increase it. |

He is someone being controlled by the governor and we don't want that. Let me tell you, akinlade being a govenor doesn't mean Yewa zone would be developed. The governor dropped 5 billion Maura for the man's campaign. And he promised to give each polling g unit 1 million on the day of the election. This is what is being circulated in Ogun State
2019 GUBERNATORIAL ELECTION AND OGUN STATE CIVIL AND PUBLIC SERVANTS
We write to plead with both civil and public servants in Ogun State to take Ogun State GUBERNATORIAL Election serious. We discovered that we didn't use to vote during election with the belief that our votes wouldn't count. In the past, we would stay at home watching TV or do some other things we liked while the politicians, artisans, unemployed youths and thugs would be busy with elections at the polling units.
They had opportunity to do whatever they wanted to do with the results because there was no one to boldly tell them the right thing. No wonder those who had opportunity to emerge as winners are maltreating the working class.
The present governor of Ogun State has therefore made us to understand that the governments are next to God. They can do and undo. They can wake up and tell us not to eat. Take for example, Amosun first suspended some civil and public servants who he thought attended PDP convention when NLC demanded for increment in the salary.
They stopped the agitation for new salary and went for the reinstatement of the suspended workers. Later, many workers were sacked for age falsification ( fake and real).
He failed to pay the workers' salaries for 5-7 months and told them that we should not tell the public about their plight. Many workers were sacked for crying out that Amosun was Ajirebi ( workers didn't feel hunger to that extent).
Amosun also fought students when they protested that he planned to sell their schools and that he should not embark on the plan. He felt insulted and ordered that any student who failed to have 50% in 5 subjects (English and Mathematics inclusive) should repeat their previous class.
This made students to vandalize school property and they were punished for their actions (many students were jailed and could not come back to school). Workers in Ogun State had never experienced unnecessary deductions in their salaries but Amosun has done it successfully.
He didn't release promotions from 2016 to 2018. Don't forget that the promotions he released in January 2019. He STOPPED promotions for no explicable reasons. Up till all deductions, Amosun has not returned it and the NUT and NLC could not fight it because of the Executive Governor of Ogun State.
Dear colleagues in Ogun State, there are many reasons WHY we shouldn't sit at home during the elections. I can't tell you who to vote for but WE need to be sensitive with the situation of things in the state. We shouldn't believe that these elections will be rigged by APM. It can only be rigged if we fail to perform our civil rights during the elections.
We need to say NO to oppression, maltreatment, man inhumanity to man, selfishness, hunger and incessant killing of innocent people in the state. Many workers died because they could not afford hospital bill.
All the Tertiary Institutions'in Ogun State have not been paid because Amosun has stopped subventions that should be given to them. Our younger ones and children are sent out of school because their lecturers are not paid.
Please, share this message and convince your colleagues to vote for their choice. I mean, a godly man. Bi olododo ba wa lori oye, ilu maa yo.Sugbon ti eniburuku ba gori ite, awon eniyan a kedun. |

OlaDavid2012: I would concur to the statement to some extent but on the other hand, the spending you are witnessing is necessary in Nigeria politics. I am from YEWA (OGUN WEST), we have been neglected for the last 8yrs and been deprived of the Governorship seat since the creation of the state (42yrs) despite the fact that the state's 60% IGR is from the region. Now that the Governor has decided (selfishly) to pick our son and spend on him, we have to support him or loose out as the other son of ours ( GNI OF ADC) have no money nor godfather.
FOUR OGUN GUBER CONTESTANTS,PARTIES AND THEIR CATEGORIES
GNI... ADC --- Apparently the peoples choice but without money and godfather, in case of influence (rigging among others) he will be left alone.
DAPO.. APC --- He got lesser people's interest but well rich and and backed up by APC National executives and cabals.
KASHAMU.. PDP ---- He is also rich and very sure of his people's (ijebu) support.
AKINLADE.. APM --- Got people's support (mostly by the virtue of the Gov.), also supported by the Gov. and have state money to spend.
Two are from Ogun West (ADC & APM) while other two are Ogun East (APC & PDP) You will see that we the people are for dapo akinlade. (APC). I'm from central where Irokunle Amosun won. Even people aren't saying its not yewa's turn but why imposing akinlade on the people. He wants someone he can control for another 8 years. |
