Nigeria versus India match: Virtually everybody born before the invention of the internet must have heard the tale of a nonexistent football match between Nigeria and India that obviously took place in a parallel universe and somehow we got to hear the gory stories of that match. Though there are many variations of the story, every prevaricator seems to agree on a couple of facts about this fictional football match. Each storyteller agrees that;
1. This match ended with India scoring 99 goals and Nigeria scoring just one goal.
2. Nigerians where unable to kick the ball because the football kept turning to a lion (or something scary) to prevent them from playing the soccer ball.
3. The Indians later agreed that if Nigeria could score a goal, they would concede defeat. 4. Samuel Okwaraji scored the winning goal and lost his life in the process. 5. FIFA banned India from soccer because they used black magic in that very game With the help of common sense (not that it was absent back then), quick access to information and the internet, every right thinking Nigerian has come to realize that such a story should be filled under blatant lies.

I remember when port Harcourt first son Duncan Mighty posted a pic of him and the militants, and that is a patriotic artist giving support to his brothers in their hard-fought struggle. This shameless Flavour has not voiced his support for Biafra or for Nnamdi Kanu. He traveled all the way to Liberia to support soldier there instead of using his star power to push for the release of his brother. Is someone of his caliber not a good tool to agitate for the release of Nnamdi Kanu? Pictures of UN soldiers in Liberia do not break the jinx for us.

A sex-starved 17-year-old girl, Lestina Marie Smith, has been arrested by the police in the United Kingdom for
allegedly raping » a 19-year-old man while holding a knife to her victim’s throat.
UK Metro reports that Smith reportedly committed the crime in Saginaw, Central Michigan, after she held down the man, pulled a knife on him and forced him to have both vaginal and MouthAction » with her.
According to the report, the teenager was apparently high on drugs when she committed the crime and is being held without bail in the Saginaw County Jail and could be sentenced to life imprisonment if found guilty.
She was arraigned on Tuesday, January 17, 2017, on two counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct and is next due in court on February 3, 2017, for sentencing.

A 70-year-old paedophile, Gabriel Akindele, has been arrested by the Ogun State Police Command for allegedly raping » an eight-year-old girl who is deaf and dumb.
Punch reports that Pa Akindele, a resident of Michael Ayegusi Street, Owode Ijako, in the Ado-Odo/ Ota Local Government Area of the state, lured the little into a toilet at his residence and defiled her » when she was sent on an errand by her mother.
It was gathered that when the girl got back home, her mother noticed the unusual way she walked and inquired from her and the girl used sign language to tell the mother what Akindele did to her and the mother went to the Sango Ota Police Division to lodge a complaint.
The state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), ASP Abimbola Oyeyemi , has confirmed the incident, saying the suspect has confessed to the crime and would be charged to court.
“The mother, who noticed an unusual behaviour from the girl after the incident, used sign language to inquire from her daughter.
The girl informed her of the incident, which prompted the mother to report the matter to the police,” ASP Oyeyemi said.
The PPRO added that the State Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Iliyasu, had directed that the case be transferred to the Anti-Human Trafficking and Child Labour Unit of the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department, Abeokuta, for proper investigation.

A High Court sitting in Koton-Karfi in Kogi on Monday sentenced a herbalist,
Ibrahim Muhammed, to death by hanging for murdering two brothers.
In his judgement, the Presiding Judge, Justice Alaba Omolaye-Ajileye , who sentenced the convict to death described his act as “high level of exceptional wickedness”.
Omolaye-Ajileye held that the prosecution had proved its case beyond reasonable doubt.
This is more so, he said, as the convict had corroborated the prosecution’s submission that he poisoned
Mohammed Kudu Abubakar and Umar Tanko Abubakar after snatching their car.
“I hold that after poisoning the two brothers as the accused confessed in his downright criminality, he hit their heads with pestle (Exhibit P7) to hasten their annihilation.
“And, in order to avoid any trace of his brutal and inhuman act, the accused buried the dead bodies of Tanko and Mohammed in his compound.
“Unfortunate for him, since nothing is hidden under the sky, nemesis caught up with him.
“By the application of an unusual but most excellent investigatory dexterity, the Special Anti-Squad (SARS) of the Nigeria Police, Kogi State, exposed the apparently hidden crime.
“By your own word, after poisoning both Tanko and Mohammed and they refused to die, you used a pestle to hit them on their heads. That was a brutal homicide committed with determination and ruthlessness.
“The manner you committed it by your own description, make it a high-level exceptional wickedness that it can only be properly marked by death sentence, which is the only sentence I can pass on you,” Omolaye-Ajileye ruled.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN)
reports that the convict was charged with robbery and culpable homicide, contrary to and punishable under Sections 298(a) and 221 (a) of the Penal Code to which he pleaded not guilty.
According to the Police First Information Report, the convict committed the offence sometime in January, 2016 at Kungbani Village in the Kogi Local Government Area.
He was said to have robbed Abubakar and his brother, Mohammed of a Toyota Carina E Wagon with registration number Niger: BDA 902 AA and later poisoned, killed and buried them.
Investigation by the police, however, led to the discovery of the plot by SARS, culminating in the exhumation of the decomposing bodies of the victims.
