The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has declared Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu as winner of Tuesday’s governorship primary.

This was contrary to the position of the Clement Ebri-led National Working Committee appointed electoral panel, which had earlier nullified the election that produced Sanwo-Olu as winner.

Ebri had said that the primary would be rescheduled as the state chapter has no power to conduct the party governorship primary election on its own.

e Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress on Thursday said it had concluded all arrangements to conduct its governorship primary on Saturday.

The Assistant Publicity Secretary of the party in the state, Mr Abiodun Salami, made the statement in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria in Lagos.

Salami spoke to NAN after the state party executive led by Alhaji Tunde Balogun met with local government executives and council chairmen at the APC secretariat.

NAN reports that Governor Akinwunmi Ambode; a former Commissioner for Training and Establishment, Mr Jide Sanwo-Olu; and a former Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Dr Obafemi Hamzat, are contesting for the party’s ticket.

“We are completely set for the governorship primary, I can assure you. We have put everything in place and perfected plans for a successful conduct.

This idea of sharing the cost of education since government alone cannot fund education, and that parents need to pay for it too.

The Osun state governorship election conducted on Saturday, 22 September was declared inconclusive, a re-run election has been slated for today in seven wards in Osun state.

In the inconclusive election, PDP candidate, Ademola Adeleke, led the race with 254,698 votes, 353 votes more than his closest rival, Gboyega Oyetola of the APC.
