Please put up some decent photographs internal and external, including engine. And put some more info, like engine size, and other details. Cheers. |
It is not often I post on Nairaland. I'm a reader, not a writer. One thing I have noticed however is the somewhat lack of credit given to the many car dealers and/or clearing agents on Nairaland who give a fantastic service. Sometime late last year after scrutinising quite a few such agents, I picked out one to do business with. I had a vehicle and contents I needed clearing and delivering to my residence in Nigeria. All interaction was done by email and at times by phone. I never set eyes on the chap. We agreed a price, delivery date etc. I'm a busy man, and am not often in the country. I want you to imagine my delight at the pleasant, efficient, effective and affordable manner in which my business was handled. Just this month, I have given repeat business to this same individual. Again, I want to express my delight at the manner in which the transaction has been handled, courteous, helpful, communicative, the lot! Furthermore, I have still not met this fantastic individual face to face. Who say's you can't do safe business on-line with Nigerians? Ladies and Gentlemen of Nairaland, please join me in thanking our very own FEMMY 2010, who I am proud to recommend to anyone seeking to import a vehicle from abroad. Thank you FELIX FEMI OYEWOLE ( FEMMY 2010) 08036363467. ![]() |

They really ought to be applauded and encouraged. Many of our youngsters in Nigeria couldn't do as well in many cases. |

This has been an exceedingly interesting and informative debate. I have learnt a lot about diesel engines and regional behavioural patterns, not to mention the need to raise awareness levels of mechanics and customers alike. In conclusion my MPV will be diesel and my limousine petrol. @Sienna; I sent u an email, please check ( Mercedes 240E conversion)javascript:void(0); |
Lets take a moment to look at the definition of 'Rascal' According to The Cambridge Advanced Learners Dictionary, the modern definition is as follows; 'A person, especially a child or man, who does things that you disapprove of, but who you still like' In some ways therefore, it would be difficult to accuse GEJ of either insulting or accusing anyone when using this word to describe them. It would need to be reinforced, perhaps with words such as villain, rogue etc. My point? lets not make a Mountain out of an Anthill. There are far more important things to worry about. |
Good day,How much to clear a Mercedes 240E Elegance 2002? Thanks |
Hi, how much would it cost to clear a 1999 Ford Explorer 4 x 4? Thanks |
We may not be entitled as yet to compare ourselves with the more successful footballing nations, but we are entitled to set benchmarks and aspire to become a successful footballing nation. Charity begins at home. The first step is building the foundation, raise awareness, develop from the bottom, encourage home grown talent, provide more than adequate resources (all areas). It will take time so, we must be patient, one step at a time. |
The fact that after 50 years of Independence inspite of being endowed with natural resources, we still haven't been able to build a credible state with a decent infrastructure. One to be proud of, one with cities to equal any in the world! The worst thing is, we keep going backwards. Until the people rise up and say, enough is enough, our fate as a nation is in doubt! |
Funny stances being taken here. All I can say is, 'learn wisdom from the pupil of the eye which is all seeing, except for self' Worse things are said and done here at home! ![]() |
Ok. Have moved this topic to foreign affairs, but I do believe it concerns us all as a community of global citizens. Besides, with all due respect, it doesn't say that only 'local' politics goes on this thread. ![]() |
So, we learn this morning that the sea convoy attempting to provide 10 tonnes of much needed aid to the inhabitants of Gaza is fired on in international waters and many die as a result. Already, Turkey summons the Israeli Ambassador and protests take place outside the Israeli consulate. What's your take on this? Has Israel gone too far? Were they (Israel) within their rights to take such action? Have they broken international law? Should other countries (noticeably silent at the moment) follow Turkey's lead? Is it time to demand for sanctions and the Isolation of Israel? Look forward to a constructive discussion on this matter. |

Read with great interest the many comments in support of, or against, MB and BMW. Have thought carefully about my personal experience with both. Totally respect my fellow deltan's experience and knowledge, but? Got to say guys and girls, MB rocks me any time ![]() |
@ Bandit C Actually Bandit, you are wrong in your analysis of 2 nouns in sequence. We cannot say for example 'an sinus infection' even though 'sinus' and 'infection' are both nouns. The reason you must say 'a car enthusiast' rather than 'an car enthusiast' is quite simply, that 'a' comes before a consonant sound, and 'an' before a vowel sound. That is why we say 'a university' and not 'an university' even though 'university' begins with a vowel. Yooo get it? and yes, I'm willing to bet!! ![]() |
The thing that needs to change the most, is the peoples attitude, and awareness levels. Thinking positive, leads to positive action, high expectations, and a determination to be part of the solution and not the problem. We have these negative issues because as a people we allow our politicians and other corrupt individuals get away with not providing the right environment for development. We allow poor roads, poor power supply, poor health facilities, poor public services generally, because we remain 'silent' in the face of these issues. No one wants to put their head above the parapet, so of course there wont be positive signs of change that might attract back, some of our most talented exiles. Only a mass revolution with a clear message that enough is enough, we ain't going to take any more, will propel the country in the right direction. History has shown this to be the case in many a country, in Europe, the Americas, and Asia, people power has made the change. It's time for a change in Africa and specifically Nigeria. |
Hey guys and girls, educate me please; what's the difference between ethnicity and race? always thought ethnic origin meant;cauca what part of the human race one came from ie Caucasian, African, Oriental etc. In which case I'd have thought we'd mainly use tribe as means of description in Nigeria?abi? |
@Inedi If you read my words properly you will see that I said his wife(also a 'pastor') and children (7 by the way) counted and took away the collections. You assume it was a small church. I rather think that a congregation of 100+ is not small. I also said he was a trainee of mine, that means I knew the training allowance being paid during the day 'job'. Any sensible person ( with this knowledge) could see that the visible material wealth was not being generated from honestly earned income. The man was a thief! As far as taking permission to provide training is concerned, I'm surprised you should say that! Churches which are generally run under Charity law, are required to have a voluntary board of trustees led by an elected chairperson with a treasurer, perhaps secretary etc. The pastor or priest or reverend father may not be an elected member of this board but will rather be considered the 'chief executive' if you like, and is answerable to the board. So, why should such a board not request, and receive the training relevant to their role as trustees? and why do you seem to be suggesting that the content of this training should be pre-approved by the pastor? Would that be in order to control, prevent, manipulate what the members learn? I have seen many such incidences by rogue 'pastors' demanding their congregation dig, dig even deeper! it's all about making money with some of these folk. You know it, I know it. The pity is the vulnerable 'I need a wife', 'I need promotion' 'I need a husband' type of person who places their trust in these tricksters. |
@ lastpage Well said!!!! The bottom line is that there are some who see 'pastoring' as a way of making easy money off the anxieties of the vulnerable. I have seen many so called 'pastors', in the UK, usually African, mostly quite recent arrivals, turn from having 'nothing', to being very, very rich! I recall one such person being rather upset and angry when I gave a training session on the 'role of trustee's' and pointed out, that as trustees, they have a responsibility to ensure that the finances of the 'church' were maintained in accordance with its articles and memorandum of association as a charitable body. I further pointed out that the 'pastor' was in effect an employee of the 'church' and not the owner. In most cases we find that the 'tail wags the dog', with pastor's determining how, when and what will be done with the money! In this case, his wife and children collected, counted, and took away the 'tithes'. No accountability, no records, no holding the pastor to account. Of course he suddenly started driving a big 4x4 Mercedes, moved from a housing association property,(rented) to a big house in the suburbs, bought his daughter a house for her birthday. Ladies and gentlemen, this was within one of the biggest pentecostal names in Nigeria! I not only knew this guy, I knew his entire history-he had been one of my trainees on arrival from Africa. So, there are crooks who masquerade as 'men of god' ripping people off, and it seems it pays off and will continue to do so as long as there are the vulnerable, screwed up by this biggest of confidence tricks ever devised by man, Religion! Before anyone gets carried away, let's be very clear, there is a difference between one's 'faith' and 'Religion'. |
@syenite Perhaps you'd like to quote me right as in 'gifts'. Wakey, wakey now, notice the difference ![]() |
Ain't nutin wrong with having different bedrooms. Infact, it keeps romance alive when u visit each other wid 'gifts'. Remember how it used to be when u were courtin? Passions ran high, gist was sweeter on each visit! I recommend it! ![]() |
Ehh, I don't see any date on those pictures guys. How do we validate their authenticity? |
MTN is a private business, and like all private business the bottom line is profit! A decision to locate its head quarters in Ghana has got to be a strategic one, and has no doubt taken on board issues relative to conducting a conducive business. One of these, and perhaps the most important is infrastructure! and this is something sadly lacking in Nigeria. Energy, Road networks,Security, Health, Education, these are all areas where Nigeria fails woefully. Political insecurity, corruption and an unworkable infrastructure are not the components to encourage inward investment. I doubt any of us would invest for long in such an environment! The solution is clear, we must get the infrastructure developed to the point where confidence is established. It never ceases to amaze me, that the 'leaders' of Nigeria who travel abroad regularly, and see/ benefit from the infrastructure of the countries they visit, for some reason, refuse to really, really push for such development at home. Until that happens, we remain in the doldrums, for without such infrastructure there isn't a nation in the world that can develop. So don't blame MTN, blame Nigeria for not making itself the country of choice for investment. |
Actually, banks and/or finance houses sell repossessed items for as much as they can get, and they will indeed give any surplus over what is owed back to the foreclosed individual, less some administrative costs of course, at least in the UK they will. Most banks have an estate division within the bank set up,or may use particular agents to sell the property. Such properties are not generally advertised as being repossessed, and may also be advertised at normal market value initially, however, make an offer and sure enough (especially if u know the property is a repossessed one) you may get it at a much reduced rate, but one that certainly gets the bank/finance house its money back. A lot of these properties are auctioned with a reserve price attached (that is, a price below which the seller will/may not sell). Sometimes, they may even invite tenders, and in this case those in the business (with a lot of liquidity) stand a chance of getting these items at a pretty good price. Of course they sell later at a profit. Check the papers for auctions of houses and cars you'll find many of these items have been placed there by finance houses/banks. Bottom line, you need CASH. |
@pythonskin Out of curiosity, how did you get a 1991 vehicle in to 9ja? are there any particular concessions for personal effects? appreciate advice to intodem@hotmail.co.uk |
