Decree 34 was approved by members of supreme military council of which all the military governors were members before it became law.
Fajuyi was Ironsi's closest ally and was in full support of the regime and the reason northern counter coupist marked him together with Ironsi as targets to be killed.

We both agree that the FG should do more for insecurity in the SE. The main problem is that the people and elders of the SE are on the side of the criminals. Amnesty has not worked in Nigeria, i don't support the opinion that amnesty should be given to every criminal organization. Bandits amnesty, killer herdsmen amnesty etc. No. It creates more criminals looking for amnesty and getting away with crimes in the long run. Boko haram is still there, amnesty didn't solve it. SS issues also were not solved by amnesty though it helped a bit here, i guess because their main fight was settlement. They felt money was going out and they and their land was suffering for nothing. Their ideology and reason is different from that of Boko boys or ipod. Every time FG steps in with military action in the SE, there's always cry of genocide, being unfair and how Nigeria is killing our children unjustly. It's a catch 22 situation. The Yoruba military officers was in full support and participated in that January 1966 coup but once the table turns against the Igbo nation Yoruba people both in the army switch their allegiance to the victorious North and ndi Igbo became their political enemies and manufactured every possible propaganda for their new friends.
Ironsi's unification decree was unpardonable sin according to Yoruba/Fulani alliance yet they consolidated that decree in the past 58 years.

Lolz, i don't know what carrot and steak approach means. Thankfully, the government has already employed the one i know (carrot and stick) but it's not worked so far. This involves reward or punishment. Usually, efforts by the government to do positive things for the South East are usually rejected, propagandized and bullied out. The usual chest beating and calls for rejection are what we hear. People rejoice and raise you to hero for rejecting the carrot, or bully you and tell all manner of tales so that you don't accept the carrot. The recent destruction of an higher institution, and the frustrations that went into building the 2nd niger bridge are some examples. The stick is being used for terrorist Lamidi who instigated the deaths and wanton loss of peace and property in the SE. For a man that should be shot at sight, i don't know the bigger carrot you want than giving such a man bail.

Excuse me for that typo.The FG haven't done enough to combat insecurity in SE.They should do much more.For example the carrot approach should include amnesty to repentant IPOB militants as it was done to Niger Delta and Bokoharam militants and all out military action against unrepentant ones and engage leaders of SE leaders for political solution to the Igbo problems in Nigeria .
