“From the look of things, it means we might even not use the card reader during the other elections,” he said. “IRS (is) a machine, it can fail anytime. Instead of disenfranchising voters I have directed them to stop using the card readers.”

“If I can endure, you see my sweat? I plead with all Nigerians to be patient, no matter the pains we take,” he told reporters outside the polling station.

“It’s the first time we are using this technology, PVCs (permanent voters card), card readers,” he said, adding that he was “not worried”, despite reports of difficulties in other states across the country.

“where card readers fail to work, presiding officers can accredit voters by marking the voter register”.
He also said arrangements will be made for voting to take place tomorrow in polling units where accreditation was suspended.
