Who foiled the January 1966 coup?

One individual on the SMC consistently opposed the trial of the January 15 plotters, and the name of that individual was Lt.Col Francis Fajuyi. Fajuyi knew about the coup but couldn't lend his support as he wasn't at his post when it happened
Could you shed more light on this please?

I’m wondering why Fajuyi opposed the trial of the January 15 coup plotters.

According to Ademoyega, Ojukwu was aware there was a coup but he adopted a 'wait-and-see' stance, then once it looked like the coup wasn't going to be successful he turned against it.

It was coup within a coup within a coup.
Hmmm… how crafty

Arguable but they sure had foreknowledge of the coup.
Uncertain they had foreknowledge of the coup.

Who arrested the coup plotters?

As for Aguiyi Ironsi, he really messed up by being tribal with the whole stuff. An immediate execution of the coup plotters would have placated the Northern officers to an extent.

NoIgboSoundTueh:
no correct option
in fact the coup was successfully carried out and Igbo coup plotter handed power to Igbo
Tribalism

Nwafor Orizu was meant to handover power to Dipcharima, a Northerner from Borno state.

However, he handed it over to his tribesman Aguiyi Ironsi.

Aguiyi Ironsi should have ordered an immediate execution of the coup plotters, but he soft pedalled.

I also learnt he constituted a cabinet without Northerners or South Westerners (I stand corrected on this).

Nwafor Orizu and Aguiyi Ironsi worsened the mess on ground.

Godwin4444:
the coup was not foiled but it achieve its aim which is to kill leaders from other tribes n install an Igbo

They killed all other tribes leaders n made an igbo president so they achieved their aim
Were Aguiyi-Ironsi and Ojukwu part of the coup plotters?

Nonsense

Tinubu must rule till 2031
Ganduje will take over, then Ikpeazu or Okphebolo will continue in 2039.

Nigeria’s unity is non negotiable.

Where are the CNG mass transit buses promised by the government?

How has subsidy removal helped the government achieve Tinubu’s eight point agenda for Nigeria between August 29 2023 to August 28 2026?

1. food security;
2. poverty eradication;
3. growth,
4. job creation;
5. access to capital;
6. inclusion;
7. rule of law; and
8. fighting corruption

His previous wife (Chanel Chin) is from Jamaica.

The Lukumis/Anagos (better and original names to be known by rather “Yoruba” ) have a very rich history and culture.

I don’t see the Ijaws going extinct anytime soon. They’ve inhabited the coastal areas of Nigeria and other places in West Africa for over 9,000 years now.

Christianity Etc › Re: Trinity Teaching By RCCG by OkCornel(m): 11:01pm On Jan 11, 2025
Jesus bears the title “God” (Eloi), however he is not the Father who is the most high God.

Until people learn how to differentiate titles from the person y’all will keep confusing yourselves.

It’s like arguing David and Saul are the same because they bore the title “King”
