You are doomed for allowing me to waste my data and precious time in reading your nonsense |
Osagyefo98:I never expected a good response from an IPOB like you, good bye |
I really want this man to work thoroughly to fish out those evil perpetrators, congratulations for your new appointment |
He was in Owerri, Imo State yesterday where apart from commissioning and opening the Dick Tiger Road, he also visited the attacked Custodial Facility and State Police Command headquarters. Plans to move from Imo to Benin city in Edo State to declare open the National Sports Festival was aborted due to bad weather. Today, the VP decorated the new IGP, (alongside the Police Affairs Minister) urging new Police Chief to build trust with the Nigerian people and restore the good name of the Nigerian Police Force. He will also be chairing the Tripartite Executive/Legislative and Party Committee later today. Recall the VP aborted all planned Easter activities and celebration to visit Ebonyi State last Sunday, where he visited some communities in two LGAs attacked by suspected herdsmen, before proceeding to the Ecumenical Center in Abakaliki where he held an interactive session with stakeholders on how to find an enduring solution to our security challenges. With the continued support and cooperation the VP enjoys from President Buhari and Nigerians, he's willing to do even more, as the work goes on!

The Main Organising Committee, also disclosed that the two-hour programme starts at 7:00 a.m. with the display of the rich cultural heritage of Edo State, as Nigerian artiste ‘Fire Boy,’ entertains the guests. Governor Godwin Obaseki, who will usher in Vice President Osinbajo to the state, supported by his deputy, Comrade Philip Shaibu, will also speak on Edo State’s readiness for the festival, while the Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Sunday Dare is expected to officially welcome athletes to the ceremony. To organisers had informed that to ensure compliance with the COVID-19 protocols, entry into the venue will be strictly by invitation and accreditation, while states will be allowed to present only 20 athletes for the ceremony. Earlier on Monday morning, the torch of unity of the 20th National Sports Festival, which began a tour of Edo, only visited the headquarters of the state’s three Senatorial Districts, unlike how it was done previously. Then, the torch had gone through all the Local Government Areas (LGAs) of the state. The torch-bearers were led by Sixtus Omokhagbor, an aide to Philip Shaibu, the Chairman of the festival’s Local Organising Committee (LOC), who is also Edo’s Deputy Governor. Other members of the team include Osagie Ohaimu, national record holder in the 21km walk race, and Faith Fidelis, an 800m and 1500m specialist. The first senatorial district visited was Auchi, headquarters of Edo North. There, the Head of Service (HoS) of the Etsako West LGA received the torch on behalf of the other six LGAs in the district. The torch later moved on to Edo Central senatorial district where the HoS of Ekpoma, Esan West LGA received it on behalf of the district. The last place visited was Edo South senatorial district, where the torch was received by the HoS of Oredo LGA on behalf of the district. The same torch named “Unity Torch” is expected to be lit at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium Tuesday morning by Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo, who will officially open the 20th NSF. The 20th NSF, tagged “Edo 2020” and the country’s biggest sports event, began on Friday with the arrival of state contingents of athletes and officials. It will end on April 14 with the departure of all the participants and other visitors. *7 athletes test positive for COVID-19* Meanwhile, at least, seven athletes have already tested positive for COVID-19 at the biennial games. Confirming this on Monday, the Project Manager, Media and Communications, Sub-Committee for the festival, Musa Ebomhiana, said the affected athletes have been quarantined at the Stella Obasanjo Isolation Centre in Benin. To this effect, he informed that the affected athletes who are from different states of the federation stand disqualified from participating in the sports festival. However, Ebomhiana explained that there was nothing to worry about, as the number of positive cases compared with the large number of athletes and officials participating in the sports festival, was insignificant. He further explained that out of the two states earlier disqualified, only Oyo state-contingent had been readmitted into the games following the completion of the COVID-19 screening. Ebomhiana said, the case of Taraba is pending as athletes and officials have to undergo the mandatory COVID-19 test. According to him, 25 states have so far arrived for the games, while he assured that all is set for the official opening of the games.

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has assured the people of Egedege in Ebonyi State of justice over the recent herdsmen's attacks during his visit to their community on Sunday. He said that government would seek justice on behalf of those who are dead, "not just because they are victims but because they are human beings and they deserve justice." "Anybody who watches another killed next to him and does not feel angry and pain, and does not feel that the person deserves justice must answer the law ultimately, so do not be under any illusion, so far as it lies within our powers, we will make sure that justices is served," Osinbajo said. The Vice President, Prof Osinbajo, SAN, who arrived the state on Sunday, in his meeting with the elders of the affected communities, condemned the the March 29 attacks, while he promised them of relief from the Federal Government. In his address, the Vice President said, "I am here on behalf of Mr President, not just by myself. At times, when things like this happen, when people are killed, when incidents like this happen and we feel particularly outraged, particularly angry about what has happened, the reason being that the people who have been mercilessly massacred are people like you and I, human being like you and I. "These are young ones, women and children, who have woken up in the morning expected to go about their daily business, expected to go out to fend for themselves and ended up dead not because they've done anything wrong but because of the cowardly wicked act of some other people who lived in the community they are. Osinbajo, in assuring the elders and people of the communities on government's plans to ensure that the dastard acts do not repeat itself, said it was very important to beef up security in the state, especially the affected communities. The Vice President said he was already in talks with the General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the Army in the state about ensuring that more security was provided, while he informed the people that the GOC had already made some provisions, "but obviously there is need for even greater security," Osinbajo said. He also charged the people of the local communities to be ready to support the security operative with information on the activities of suspected people around them. He said: "The local communities themselves must be ready to give more information and prompt information to all of the law enforcement agencies so that prompt actions can be taken in the event that anybody wants to do any further harm. "Let me assure that we will seek justice on behalf of those who are dead, not just because they are victims but because they are human beings and they deserve justice. "The community leaders have given me a list of phone numbers and some photographs, I think they are about four or five photographs of some people, I do not know, I can not say weather these people are responsible, this is what must be investigated thoroughly. "I do not want to leave here given the impression that I have the list of all those who committed offenses, I do not have that in the list, I'm a lawyer, I am a professor of law, I want to make sure that we are clear as to what we have here, the offense could not have been committed by three or four people, there must have been many others. I will make sure investigations are done thoroughly. "At the level of the National Economic Council (NEC), which is the meeting between the Federal Government representative (that I have the privilege of chairing) and all the Governors of the states are members, we've agreed on certain things where things like this had happened. The Vice President said, at the NEC level, "We will jointly pursue justice; We will also make provisions as mush as possible between the FG and State Governments for those who have lost their lives and valuables on whatever can be done to help those communities." Vice President Osinbajo also visited the Effium community where there has been communal clashes, calling on the leaders to ensure that peace reigns, as he described the communal clashes within the community as needless.
