DeepSoul: @OP
Firstly, I think the issue of gender has to be raised.
If you are a man, ideally, you shouldnt come back home after NYSC.
But I think it's a bit different for women. In our society, regardless of how successul a woman is, she is expected to remain in her father's house till she gets married.
I cannot imagine living in the same town with my parents and renting a house. Na who born me??
9ja being what it is, when an unmarried woman decides to live alone, she is termed "loose"
The only solution is to get a job in a totally different city and have a LEGAL and VALID reason to live alone.
I'm 23 and I live on my own. I had to switch towns for this to be possible. And despite the fact that I am earning a living and not just faffing around, I still hear crap like "Abuja is not a place where single women should live. Any woman thinkin of gettin married in the future should not live alone in Abuja" Very very shallow minded people we have sha. Hi, are you still living in Abuja and forgive my intrusion bit are you married now? I am just trying to test this theory. Thank you |

Nairaland General › Re: They Have Deceived Us, They Said We Are The Leaders Of Tomorrow by okorro1(f): 2:45am On Apr 27, 2018 |
everess: I composed this writeup a week ago, but I decided not to post it. Because of the youth's reactions to mr president's speech. I had listened to the speech, I can't help but cry aloud in my heart when I sensed what he was driving at.
But to be candid are Nigerian youth really lazy?
Let assume we are not lazy? Where were the hardworking youth when Obasanjo and Buhari campaigned and won the election as president having ruled in time past when they were at their prime. Where were the hard working youth when the current administration choose the past old leaders as ministers. It still baffles me, what have they achieve in time past that we deemed it fit that this set of people are right for the position. Yet the so called courageous youth kept quiet.
Now prove me wrong, are the youth not lazy? Where is the place of the youth in this country? The youth have failed in their responsibilities, that is why the old men which were once responsible had to take their position. Are the youth not lazy? When the only thing they know how to do is complain, watch and do nothing. Where were THE LEADERS OF TOMORROW when the so the called leaders of today has sold the future for selfish gains because they are old and their time is up.
All I could see are lazy youth that decide to get a degree, graduate and look for job instead of creating jobs. They have decided to be feed and become a liability to the system. Lazy youth that surf the net everyday, read and hear how much is being embezzled on a daily basis and still feels comfortable. We refuse to realise that all those funds belong to us. They are worth fighting for because it is our heritage and we have no other country we can call our own.
Please wake up, it's you am talking to, I know no old man will read this, you are the Lazy youth Buhari is talking about. Don't be surprised if you wake up one day and discover you don't have a country you can call your own. They have deceived us, they said we are 'the leaders of tomorrow', that why I wrote the sentence in capital letters when I used it above. Yes they deceived us, because TOMORROW will always be TOMORROW, they make us feel that we are for tomorrow, knowing fully well that no mortal can see TOMORROW. Wake up and join THE LEADERS OF TODAY all round the world. I AM A LEADER OF TODAY, WHAT ABOUT YOU?
Hmm in the future things will get better, I will take action in the future, if you are above 20 years and you still make such statements, no doubt you are the Lazy youth. Where is the future if not now? Is the future in the grave? It's time friends, rise on your feet and take responsibility before its too late.
Yes, I have heard about developed countries and under developed countries, and I also know about developing countries, but Nigeria is the only country that is UNDER DEVELOPING. I guess you understand what I meant by that. Prior 1976, Nigeria exchange 1naira for 1dollar 33cents, You and I know how much a dollar cost now in naira, so many things have changed drastically. What are you doing about it? what are you created for and why are you a Nigerian? ARE YOU A LEADER OF TOMORROW OR THE LEADERS OF TODAY?
Paulolayemiomotunde@gmail.com Leader of today No oh... I want to be a leader of tomorrow cos I like to procrastinate since I'm a #lazynigerianyouth... |

AAQueenChi: Look I'm going to say this once and that's going to be it. Y'all are not better than African Americans and we are not better than ya'll. everytime I go on Instagram I see someone that is African talking bad about my people. Oh, we have guns smoke and kill each other. But don't ya'll have guns too ? Ya'll dont need Guns ya'll are killing each other in different ways. And ya'll do SMOKE WEED ya'll act like we can't see the shit ya'll be doing it we have the internet too. Stop trying to act like your better than us because your not. Ya'll have so much to say and point the finger when ya'll need to look at your own damn selves. I always see mfs saying oh all of ya'll are on sec 8 and on food stamps when one thats a lie its more white people on that SHIT then blacks ya'll think ya'll know everything but don't know SHIT. when i know damn well if ya'll country gave a Bleep about ya'll they would be offering the same thing and all ya'll ass be running to get that shit. Then want to say Oh AAs dont know nothing about our culture we know nothing about Africa you damn FUCKING RIGHT we know what WE WHERE TAUGHT ABOUT OUR COUNTRY AMERICA OUR HISTORY what makes ya'll so speceal that we need to know AALLLLLL about ya'll when ya'll dont know nothing about us. Yes bitch we do have Culture because ya'll ARE using it. Ya'll are so clueless ya'll dont even know the shit that ya'll use every day in Africa and all over the world was created by AAS and ladys if you hate AA women so much please stop using perms and be happy nappy because if wasn't a AA women who created. There is soooooo much shit we have done if it wasn't for AA people ya'll black ass wouldn't even be able to come to America if we didn't fight the way we did or Mexicans. Africans get so mad when you say one lil bad thing about ya'll or whats going on with ya'll but it be the truth that's why ya'll can't turn ya'll shit around because ya'll are in denial. ya'll rich people dress like us hip hop we created it remember that next time you listen to your favorite African rapper. You people are so crazy more than 16 dms from Nigerian men with 14.k and more followers if i wouldn't have known i would thought they where NIGGAS Ya'll act just like us dress like us and fucking smoke and do drugs we have the internet too we see ya'll we don't hate ya'll but some aas do not like ya'll because it was are own people who gave us away thats why. And ya'll come here acting like ya'll are better then us like ya'll shit is made out of gold. We are not hating on ya'll what you got that we want? ya'll are not different you come here whites see all of us as the same you think if you stay away from us racist white people will LOVE YOU? LOL little do you know white people in America wanna be us!! they act like us use AA CULTURE every day how do you think KIM K got rich? No ya'll are not so different ya'll are going to be treated the same. And the Africans who is coming for our education our education is free but college and some don't even have to go to college to be successful so you do the math. and Before you try to come for ME I'm well educated yes i know my daddy I own my own business so does my mother and my father and my grandmother is well known in the city she lives in and received more than 10 rewards for the work she does and been in the newspaper and on tv because of it. The money i make i use to help other African Americans startup they're own business and help my people as much as i can. And because my husband is African i wanted to see how i could help his people too. i even wanted to give a job to a Nigerian girl and bring her to America as a live-in housekeeper now i don't know what to do. And I feel like i had to put in some background about myself before ya'll try to say the shit ya'll always say about AAS when it's not true and people tellin ya'll this shit are living in the ghetto in the hood where poor AAs do act like that. Next time he or she say some shit tell them to move out the poor neighborhoods and stop generalizing all AA people. Like how Africans hate when we call Africa a country.
And if i have some typos oh well just means i was typing Fast doesn't stop my bank card from working. hmmm, first of all can you speak in proper English so those of us who are completely Africans can truly understand what's vexing you please Secondly, have you heard of fallacy of hasty generalization?? If you did philosophy I'm sure you will understand or at least remember the concept... Thirdly, can you point out any African who has given you grief about any or all of the stuff you spoke about?? Finally, lemme round up with this if you know anyone personally who has given you grief please do point out him or her so we can gather beat the person ah an shoo we in Africa got our problems with our leaders, the economy and whatnot so why should we be bothering about you guys and your culture and your privileged a** that can't even write proper English right as if it's going to pay our bills when we are not the #lazynigerianyouths... Lemme now be going |

dierich: hello nairalanders. I need some advice from y'all. I got many siblings (though not from same mother) and they're more older dan me, I'm d last born, and one of my sister has a daughter. she's her first child and I'm her brother, but what I'm facing now is that her daughter always like to stay around me. she do come to me, I mean our house (her grandpas' house) whenever no 1 is around. right now everyone has traveled and I'm alone for the past weeks. she came about 2 weeks ago, tempting, so many things coming to my mind now she called me that she wanna spent days with me, and I know her mum will surely release her coz she knows we are both close... like brother and sister, but I don't know how to reject her. please what can I do should I tell her not to come or how can I escape. I don't know what can happen if she spent days with me because I believe she might tempt me. Uncle I believe the most appropriate response to this is 'Flee from all appearances of evil' Oga the fact that she is young and impressionable is the more reason why you should stay away ah an Haba with all the rape, incest and abuse cases going around you're still contemplating letting her come to stay with you when body is nuh firewood Oga oh... If you want to do abeg find an age appropriate girl who is not in any way biologically related to you oh because this her mother who is willing to let her come to visit you will nuh be willing to let you go just like that if anything should happen to her daughter oh... Please hear word... I have said my own |

You can't technically call her up to her faults just like that but have you tried sitting her down to talk? If your mom is usually a cool person to talk to you might want to sit her down when she's in a good mood and give her a good heart to heart but be prepared for any slap or beating she may give you but beyond that express your mind to the fullest so that when /if she beats you, you can go and cry quietly in a corner but you will be rest assured you have said your mind... If you're a spiritual person you might want to put her in your prayers too... My two penn'orth on the matter |
