A native of Afara Village, in Abia State, Mr. Ugochukwu Kenneth, has filed a suit before the Federal High Court in Abuja, seeking among others, an order directing the British High Commission and the Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Immigration Service.

Mr. Mohammed Babandede, to arrest and extradite the leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, from the United Kingdom.

Kanu, who is also a citizen of Britain, hails from Afara village in Nigeria. The suit with number, FHC/ABJ/CS/930/2017, was filed on October 5, 2017 and has since been assigned to Justice John Tsoho.

The British High Commission, the Comptroller-General of NIS, and the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Mr. Abubakar Malami (SAN), are the defendants in the suit.

The plaintiff stated in his affidavit filed in support of the suit that he was an indigene of Afara village in Abia South Senatorial District of Abia State, which was being represented by in senate by Senator Eyinnaya Abaribe

Kenneth stated that Abaribe was among the sureties for the bail granted Kanu in his (Kanu’s) ongoing trial before the Federal High Court in Abuja.

He said if Kanu failed to appear in court, Abaribe’s freedom could be in jeopardy, adding that if the senator was arrested, the people of Abia South Senatorial District would be denied representation at the Senate and by extension the dividends of democracy.

A Florida nursing home where a dozen patients died after Hurricane Irma knocked out power has closed and laid off its 245 employees, according to a notice to state officials.

The patients, between the ages of 57 and 99, died last month after The Rehabilitation Center at Hollywood Hills failed to evacuate them from the sweltering facility in the days after the storm, state officials said.

The nursing home informed state officials, in a letter dated September 27, the facility had closed seven days earlier and its employees were out of jobs.

“A 60-day notice could not be provided due to unforeseen business circumstances that occurred after the impact of hurricane Irma,” the letter said.

The 245 workers included occupational, speech and physical therapists, nurses and dietary aids, according to the letter.

The exact causes of death have not been released, but a number of the 141 residents eventually evacuated were treated for heat-related issues.

The deaths are part of an ongoing criminal investigation by the Hollywood, Florida police department. State and federal agencies are also conducting administrative investigations.

Nursing home residents were exposed to the heat after Hurricane Irma downed a tree that knocked out the transformer powering the air conditioning system. Many were moved into the hallways, next to fans and spot coolers.

However, CNBC reported on October 5 that Facebook would immediately start allowing a user to tap a button to be told whether the news is “fake” or not. Confirmation of this came from Facebook Newsroom simultaneously.

Facebook stated, “This new feature is designed to provide people some of the tools they need to make an informed decision about which stories to read, share, and trust.”

Essentially, as part of the Facebook Journalism Project, an endeavor to tie Facebook with the news industry, Facebook will allow users to access additional contextual information without virtually leaving the site itself.

This information is pulled from Facebook, the publisher’s Wikipedia entry, and trending or related articles. With Facebook’s history of censorship, especially against conservative news sources, users should be wary of Facebook’s ability to discern the validity of a story.


It is no secret that Facebook’s CEO and founder, Mark Zuckerberg, has a liberal ideology, especially on social issues. He has been a longtime supporter of LGBT issues, aligning his company on the politically correct side.

Additionally, he has been a firm backer of “Black Lives Matter,” a movement created on the belief that society dictates that black lives do not, in fact, matter.

The Edo state police command have arrested three suspects on the alleged murder of Prof Paul Otasowie. An Engineering lecturer in the University of Benin(UNIBEN)

Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the command. Moses Nkombe, confirmed the arrest adding that the arrested suspects will assist the police in their investigation. He added that the Nissan Premiere used to track the victim to his house. Have also been recovered by the Edo state police command.

A former governor of Yobe State, Senator Bukar Abba Ibrahim (APC, Yobe East), said yesterday that he will be in the Senate for life. Ibrahim had served as Yobe governor three times before he went to the Senate in 2007.

He was re-elected in 2011 and for the third time in 2015. He is at the moment the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Ecology and Climate Change. His wife, Khadija Bukar Ibrahim, was at the House of Representatives also for the third time until Pres.

Buhari made her Minister of State for Foreign Affairs in 2015. It was not clear who 68-year-old Bukar was sending the message to, but he is from the same senatorial district as incumbent governor of the state, Ibrahim Geidam, who is also rounding up his tenure as
governor.

Lecturers disagree on dismissal of LASU ASUU chairman. University (LASU) have expressed divergent views on the dismissal of its 15 academic staff. Including the chairman of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) and his deputy.

The LASU lecturers made their views known in separate interviews in Lagos on Tuesday. LASU Governing Council had on Sept. 8 dismissed 15 academic staff along with two non-academic staff and demoted two others.

Among those dismissed for various acts of misconduct were ASUU LASU Chairman, Dr Isaac Oyewunmi, and his Deputy, Dr Adebowale Adeyemi- Suenu. The university found Oyewunmi guilty of demanding N50,000 from 2003 modular year students of Political Science Education on the sandwich programme to process their results.

Trump To Cut Off The Internet After London Attack. Donald Trump says that the internet must be "cut off" to stop further terror attacks.

The Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose has told Nigerians that the announcement made by the Federal government that Nigeria was out of economic recession was inaccurate.

This was made known in a press statement released by his spokesperson, Lere Olayinka, on behalf of Mr. Fayose said the statistics upon. Which the claim was based is meaningless to Nigerians.

“The reality is that Nigerians are suffering and dying, with foods and drugs out of their reach and no amount of economic statistics will make meaning to people who cannot afford to eat once daily.”

He likened the claim to the earlier one last year by the Nigerian government that the Boko Haram insurgency had been defeated.

“Claiming that Nigeria is out of economic recession without any corresponding effect on the living condition of the people is just like they said Boko Haram had been defeated and over 400 people were killed by the insurgents in the last five months.”

The governor also described the reason given for the cancellation of the Federal Executive Council meeting on Wednesday as funny.

“Is it not funny that the same federal government that declared public holiday forgot that there would be a Tuesday after the public holiday and FEC meeting will be held on Wednesday?

“Methinks they should look for another lie next week because the reality is that President Muhammadu Buhari does not have the required mental capacity and strength to rule Nigeria and I maintain that he should consider his health as well as the overall interests of Nigeria and resign.”

On the news of Nigeria exiting recession being promoted by the federal government, Mr. Fayose asked; “If Nigeria is indeed out of economic recession, has price of foodstuffs like rice reduced to N7,000 per bag that it was when Buhari took over power? So Nigeria is still in Recession
