Police discover 19 migrants in tanker. Greek Police have arrested a 57-year-old driver of articulated vehicle suspected of human smuggling after they found 19 migrants hidden in a tanker near the Greek border with Turkey.

The people from Syria, Iraq, Pakistan and Iran, seven of them minors, were in a life-threatening situation as they were being transported in the non-ventilated tank, police said on Friday.

The migrants apparently travelled on foot from Turkey and were picked up by the suspected smugglers who planned to take them to a port in western Greece, a police officer told dpa in Athens.

There are daily ferries Patras and Igoumenitsa to Brindisi, Bari, Ancona, Venice and Trieste in Italy

The All Progressive Party,APC, has wished former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Goodluck on his resignation from the party announced on Friday.

National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi told newsmen at the Party secretariat that Atiku has not formally informed the party of his decision to leave and seek his political fortune elsewhere.

When asked of the impact of the development, Abdullahi said the party is not worried yet until they see the number of people that will follow the former Vice President before it will know whether to worry or not.

“Politics is about interest, we have not seen any formal notification to that effect but base on what we have seen in the social media we can say all together is surprising but for us politics is all about interest.

“So, if the former Vice President feels that his interest is better served elsewhere, we can always wish him goodluck. Dangote’s $300 million cement plant commissioned in Congo Brazzaville. Africa’s largest cement Company, Dangote Cement, has commissioned its $300 million plant in Mfila, Congo Brazzaville. The 1.5mtpa capacity cement plant was commissioned on Thursday amid ecstasy by the government and the indigenes of the Country. The plant also has potentials to create about 1000 direct employment and thousands of several other indirect jobs.

While inaugurating the country’s biggest plant, President Denis Sassou Nguesso, said the investment was an industrial revolution within the Economic Community of the Central African States (CEMAC).

According to him, his government has observed the operations of Dangote cement in other African countries and it has helped buoy their economies by sparking off other allied industries expressing the hope that Congo situation would not be an exception.

The Congolese President described the coming on stream of the Dangote cement as timely and encouraging because it is starting operations at a time the total government revenues have plummeted by 31.3 per cent and revenues from the oil sector have fallen 65.1 per cent since 2015 due to a slide in global crude prices.

President Mohammadu Buhari who was represented at the event by a delegation led by the Minister of Mines and Steel Development, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, commended Alhaji Aliko Dangote and his Cement Company for championing economic renaissance of Africa.

The sterling accomplishment of construction of cement plants across several African countries, made the Dangote Cement brand, and indeed Aliko Dangote himself, worthy ambassadors of Nigeria.

President Buhari said his government has consistently supported and encouraged the Dangote Group in its quest to contribute its quota to the economic emancipation of the African continent, which is blessed with a plethora of natural resources.

“I believe that it is only home-grown practical solutions that can address the myriad issues plaguing Africa today and one of such challenges that Africa has been grappling with for decades is the infrastructure deficit.

“I am confident that massive investments in cement production, which is a key driver of infrastructural development, will contribute in no small measure, to addressing this perennial problem.”

Buhari recalled with satisfaction that local cement manufacturers such as Dangote Cement, Lafarge and BUA, have exploited one of the solid minerals, limestone which is a basic input for cement production.

f there is one thing that Mrs. B. regrets most in her life, it is the day she walked into the Royal Heritage Church, Mafoluku, Lagos, for the first time.

Shortly after that day, with her teenage daughter in tow, she approached the pastor of the church, Tunde Daniel, a man in his 50s with two wives, and sought his spiritual help on the girl’s plan to become a model.

But Mrs. B. said the moment she approached the pastor for help was the day she lost control of her daughter, who is now 16 years old.

For more than a year, Mrs. B said she was struggling to get a grip of her life and win her daughter back from the hold Pastor Daniel allegedly had on her.

From that moment on began a relationship that allegedly snowballed into a sexual slavery for Mrs. B’s daughter.

According to her, it got to a point that if she gave her daughter an instruction, her obedience would depend on whether the pastor agreed or not.

The girl would occasionally visit the married pastor at his 8, Owolabi Street, Mafoluku, Lagos.

Mrs. B said, “My daughter suddenly became distant and she no longer listened to me. Then, one day, she ran away from home. I was at my shop when she ran away and her siblings were with me in the shop.

“I got home and was expecting to see her. I became worried after a few hours, but I still did not see her. Neighbours also could not tell me where she was.

“It was while searching everywhere for her that I noticed the money I kept in the house had gone.

“I tried to call Pastor Daniel but could not reach him on the phone and I went to his house. When I got there, I was told he was not around and for four days, my daughter was missing.

“Few days later, Pastor Daniel brought her back home in the evening.  When I asked where she had been, she ignored me and when I asked the pastor, he shouted at me.”

Mrs. B. warned her daughter to stay away from the pastor but all she got in response was the rebuff.

According to her, Tunde continued to meet with the girl in secret.

Mrs. B. explained that unknown to her, the sexual abuse her daughter allegedly suffered in the hands of the pastor started in 2016 when the girl was still 15.

“She said that anytime she went to school, Pastor Daniel would pick her up there and take her to a hotel.

“One day in late February, 2017, I got a call from a hospital that said my daughter was in a critical condition. I did not know how she ended up in the hospital. At that time, I had lost control over her totally.

“When I got there, I was told that she had appendicitis and that an emergency surgery must be conducted to save her life. We were asked to look for N368,000. I called her father who was abroad, to inform him of the case and we quickly paid the money.

“It was when I saw the surgical scar that I became alarmed and I started petting her and told her to tell me what was going on. That was when she said that the pastor had impregnated her and that what I thought was the removal of her appendicitis was indeed abortion.

Former Acting Governor of Taraba State, Sani Abubakar Danladi, yesterday admitted collecting N450 million through Senators Joel Dallami Ikenya and Hon. Mark Bako Useni during the 2015 presidential election.

Danladi, who was arrested last week was quizzed on Monday by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), at its Gombe Zonal Office.

A Junior Secondary School student of Government Day Secondary School, Tunga-Minna, who was reportedly impregnated by the Vice Principal on of the above mentioned school, Malam Mohammed Mohammed, has been delivered of a baby boy.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) disclose that the young lady gave birth at Injita village in Munya Local Government Area of Niger, last week.

NAN also reports that Mohammed, who was arraigned on April 4, is currently standing trial on a two-count charge of unlawful sexual intercourse with a child and impregnating a female student.

The accused was remanded in prison for three months after he pleaded not guilty to the charge, before he was granted bail in the sum of N1 million by Magistrate Fatima Auna.

According to Auna, Mohammed’s action contravened sections 35 and 36 of the 1999 constitution and sections 341 and 342 of the Criminal Procedure Code.

The victim, who spoke with newsmen on Tuesday in Munya, disclosed that she gave birth to a baby boy at her native village because her guardian in Minna took her back to her parents in August.

A 100-year-old woman dies after being raped by a drunk man in northern India, police said on Tuesday. The crime took place in a village in Uttar Pradesh state’s Meerut district late Sunday night.
