Jokes Etc › Nigerian History by Ola007(op): 4:32am On Mar 05, 2008 |
It was the first day of the session and a new direct entry student Mensah, the son of a poor Ghanaian cobbler, joined the class.
The Lecturer said, “Let’s begin by reviewing some Nigerian history. Who said ‘I shall return to die in the land of my fathers’”
She saw a sea of blank faces, except for Mensah, who had his hand up
“King Jaja of Opobo, 1875”
“Very good! Who said ‘the land use act will feed the nation’”?
Again, no response except from Mensah: “Obasanjo, 1976,” said Mensah.
The Lecturer snapped at the class, “Class, you should be ashamed. Mensah who is new to our country, knows more about its history than you do”
She heard a loud whisper: “ Ghana must go” “Who said that?” she demanded
Mensah put his hand up. “Buhari, 1984”.
At that point, a student in the back scornfully said, “Hmmm, you think you are smart”
The Lecturer glared and asked, “All right! Now, who said that?”
Again, Mensah said “Babangida to Abiola, 1992.”
Now furious, another student yelled, “Oh yeah? Suck this!”
Mensah jumped out of his chair waving his hand and shouting to the teacher, “Abacha to his Indian mistress, 1998!”
Now, with almost mob hysteria, someone said, “You little Shit. If you say anything else, I’ll kill you”
Mensah frantically yelled at the top of his voice, “Chris Uba to Ngige, 2004!”
The Lecturer fainted, and as the class gathered around her on the floor, someone said, “Oh shit, we’re in BIG trouble now!”
Mensah whispered, “Chimaroke Nnamani, 2007”. |

Not getting through to any of these numbers, I'll let them know what I think when I drop in Monday.
Considering opening a second stock broking account, going for Vetiva. Need a second broker as a counter balance to the impersonal service provided by IBTC. I think the limit is 6000 or 10000 naira |

pumping777: I used this for my Diamond bank GDR and it has been credited to CSCS.
In a post earlier I explained the relationship between these numbers as explained in a CSCS email.
The alphanumeric number identifies your account (this should be unique) with CSCS. The numeric one is issued by your broker and is your account number with them. Ordinarily you can have multiple brokers linked to your alphanumeric CSCS number. If you have access to your CSCS account this will be clearer to you.
So to credit your account, there is need to know
1. First and foremost your alphanumeric CSCS number. 2. The broker that should have access to trade the stocks. That is why you are also asked for the name of the broker. With this, when you login to the CSCS account and navigate to your account with that broker you will find the stocks listed there.
The only question is this. What if you have multiple accounts with the same broker? In this case, I will advice that after filling in the name of your broker, include in brackets the specific account number you want the stocks deposited. This is the numeric number. Pumping How can I change the address on my CSCS account? I have searched for forms but can't find any and my broker is not helpful as well. |

Nigeria’s Oando buys Shell assets By Dino Mahtani in London
Published: February 22 2008 22:58 | Last updated: February 22 2008 22:58
Royal Dutch Shell is set to complete the sale of its share in two offshore oil licences in Nigeria to a local firm that beat off a rival bid by China’s biggest offshore producer.
Executives of Oando, Nigeria’s largest domestic energy group that is listed in Lagos and Johannesburg, were on Friday in The Hague to tie up the final details of the sale.

At roughly the same time it announced plans to embark on a cost-cutting exercise in Nigeria, where funding shortfalls and security issues have regularly and severely impacted on operations.
Oando’s bid will make it the first Nigerian company to secure producing assets from any multinational operating in Africa’s biggest oil producer.
Sources close to the deal said that Oando had secured a $200m (£102m) facility from Merrill Lynch to help it finance the deal.
The sources added that Oando was also looking to secure up to $400m of further financing to be secured by the producing assets which it is acquiring from Shell.
The sale of the assets was contested by a number of Nigerian groups, as well as CNOOC, China’s largest offshore producer that has dramatically expanded its presence in Africa over the past three years. Copyright The Financial Times Limited 2008 |

Is there anything wrong with this thinking? But AIICO went on TS just before the insurance sector bull run and its now playing caught up, not quite sure if it will be the same with Crusader which was in the bull run. |

flakyy: Guaranty paid an interim dividend of 25kobo around oct/nov 2007. Check closely , the date must be sometime in 2007.
5kobo div UNIC paid last year totalling about 10,000 naira also showed up in my portfolio. Reaching out to the registrars to collect my dividend warrants is a must for me for that
Precisely what i was talking about when i say that dividends that have been paid that somehow investors did not know about will now be known.
Its up to you to determine either through your broker where it should have been sent to. You can always go to registrars of stocks in question to claim long forgotten dividend warrants if you don't have the e-dividend thing that allows your acct to be credited directly with dividends setup. Thanks. |

flakyy: But i really give it to Nigeriansecurities anyway. Has anyone seen there bonus and dividend tracking system.
It even shows dividends from as far back as 2001. The banks may not be happy about this oo cause people who get to know about this will soon start calling for their dividend warrants.
Imagine and elderly couple that i met in my church that i worked through creating a portfolio on nigeriansecurities just saw in their portfolio dividends that they did not know had accrued to them in all this years across various stocks, This was substantial.
I am really impressed shaaa My portfolio is showing dividends payable to stock I brought, did GTB pay interim dividend this year? and is the dividends paid into one's CSCS account? |

grabdaloot: To the fella who got a N40m loan. We have a saying in my village if you wan chop frog chop a big fat one. My strategy for this kind of scenario would be safe but aggressive. The loan is for one year right? I'd start with NESTLE tell your broker to place a bid at -5% of the previous closing price with the whole N40m it is a very volatile stock and I am sure you will get it. Nestle dividend this year should be around N9 expect about a 20% appreciation when full year results are announced. Question is shoudl you sell or take the dividend. I would sell asking my broker to set a price limit of +5% of the previous closing price after I get a 20% from my buy price (this is to take care of the transaction charges). I expect that you would have had the interest secured by now. by now you should have a minimum of N50m split it into two if IKEJAHOTEL never announce result by now AND it is above N7 buy with ~N22m the rest put into UBA (safe and aggressive) if you have the stomach and balls then just use everything to buy IKEJAHOTEL. Calculate the networth of you investments on a DAILY basis. When it is worth goes above N80m sell up and write a cheque to your bank(er) to pay off the loan. Don't get greedy or you will get caught out remeber bulls and bears all make money but pigs get slaughtered!! May God be with you on this one. I honestly wouldn't attempt it. The market is all about experience and you learn a lot more each year. Your investment should grow with your experience. The growth rate depends on your personality. This is a very true fact. What you are trying to do is tantamout to being a market pig. Only people with insider information should do something like that. He said 6 months, the guy get liver o 40 mil loan. |
