richieade: Russia ke? Lai lai! Even the oyinbos are afraid to go there and the people that are there are pulling out, do u remember what they did to BP(british petroleum)? They were basically forced to sell the majority stake of their investment in drilling for gas to Gazprom. If they can do this to a multi billion pounds company, can u imagine what they can do to small investors? The corruption in that country is on a par with Naija. Russia and Bulgaria ke? I fear those countries o. |

easimoni: You can buy/sell the shares like normal shares. If the shares are "cold", you won't find a buyer unless you offer someone at much lower than the TS price. If the shares are "hot", you'll prob find a buyer at a premium.
Shares on TS are hard to buy/sell (depending on the demand/supply). Most of the trades are cross-deals. Try to avoid TS. You don't know which way things will go. Thanks easimoni, Its just that I have some stock AIICO, WEMA and ECOBANK and are under TS and not sure what to do with them but would like to buy more AIICO. |

Question
How does on buy/sell shares under TS? Is it at the TS price or one has to set the price one wants to buy and sell? |

Has anyone here operated a Stock a/c with Cashcraft ? I just wanted to find out about their efficiency in transacting Stock orders. I am looking for an alternative Stock Firm to Afrinvest who have been a bit too lethargic for my liking.
Cheers !! Oh boy and someone recommended Afrinvest to me as I am looking for one as well, have not heard good things about Cashcraft as well. |

FatherOF2: Not interested in going further on this point. GET CLEAR CONFIRMATION FROM YOUR BROKER ON WHAT YOU SHOULD WRITE/DO ON YOUR IPO FORMthats the issue not trade alert ON FRIDAY. Whatever he/she advices. Its ok. End of story. Have to agree with invisible as well, as the IPO/PO forms ask for the CSCS number and the brokers house name. |

hbrednic: quote author=ckenneths I still haven’t gotten a satisfying answer to one question bugging my mind. Supposing your stock broker fails to meet the 1 bil naira capital base by next yr end, and your stocks are still lodged with him, what happens to the stocks since the broker will not be allowed to trade on them forthwithasking same question, but i think the best strategy for now is to stay with firms attached to banks(to be on a safe side),because they will surelly meet up with the required capital. expect a lot of PP's and IPO's from most brokers in 2008,to be the rat race. it is a pity no clear inform is coming out from NSE,concerning this recapitalization issue. if I see Lead Capital PP/IPO I will run. |

Investment › Re: Stock Market Tips For Nigerians by Ola007(m): 1:10pm On Dec 11, 2007 |
wanaj0: On DSR, it is undervalued, relatively low PE with expansion/growth expected in 2008. That should help the bottomline. Yes the quarterly dividend is an issue but going forward, the market will definitely recognise its value. Also in a bearish market, don't expect it to take a hit.
on First Bank, yes I've factored in the dilution. By the time Q1 2008 result is out, FBN will skyrocket. They will definitely exceed the forecast in the prospectus. FBN has all and more that Zenith and co has. Look at there branch expansion strategy, look at the money from Western union, look at the deployment of the N250bn raised. Come 2008, expect a mind blowing performance from First Bank. Now if they recover part or all of the N10bn from the IIL saga.
WAPCo, not too bullish about them. Good stock, good company but not well favoured. Loss of the MD to Obajana is also not a good sign. Who is DSR? |

When you see a rights (not hybrid) know that something is cooking.
On Eterna Oil, nothing special. The petroleum marketing sector is passing through difficult times. This will continue until there is an increase in price of petroleum products. Current margin is so small for the major operators. So what's going on with the petroleum marketing sector now? its been upward with most stock for the past few days. |

Good day to All you gurus in the house. Please i need a software preferably online that can be telling me what i am worth at any point in time in my Nigerian Stocks I tried to use a spreadsheet but it is so manual. I know with my 401k acct, once trading for the day is completed, i can see my positions , how much i am worth, gain and loss and even a pie chart representation of my assets. Is there a broker that has similar service or a software customised for naija i can buy. Thanks @flakyy You can create your portfolio and as many as you want here http://www.nigeriansecurities.com/index.php |

Thanks for the tips guys @FatherOF2 Aha now i get it.Your broker must be cheating you big time. Below are SEC approved rates for transactions. BUY SIDE (VAT inclusive and all sub-charges) 1.83% SELL SIDE (VAT inclusive and all sub-charges) 2.123%. Go to the website and see the approved rates. No broker should charge you more. I work on 25% a lot.If i get 35% na jarra. You need to cross 3.96% to make a profit. Please don't take my RUMOUR gist too too seriously, its just 15% of my strategy for making money on the floor. There're strong reasons i follow. Buy on friday and sell on Thursday.Repeat forthnightly for 4 forthnights and you have at least 100% profit with compounding. Which brokerage house gives you that rate? mine charges:- BUY SIDE (VAT inclusive and all sub-charges) 2.355% SELL SIDE (VAT inclusive and all sub-charges) 2.647%. |
