Politics › Re: Our Lives Under Threat, Ibadan Family Heads Cry Out To Buhari by oladeebo: 10:57am On Oct 20, 2017 |
marryjesus: The Council of Ibadan Authentic Mogajis otherwise known as Family Heads yesterday raised the alarm that unknown persons were threatening them to desist forthwith from going to the Palace of Olubadan of Ibadan land at Popoyemoja or risk being killed.
Addressing journalists at a hideout in Ibadan, the spokesman of the group, Chief Wale Oladoja, flanked by other executives of the forum, said: “Our lives are no longer safe here. And we begin to wonder what is our offence? For standing by the Olubadan to preserve our culture, traditional norm and values?
“Frequent anonymous calls from the people we suspect to be agents of deaths are threatening all of us including the Chairman seated here, Mogaji Moshood Akere, the Vice Chairman, Mogaji Abass Oloko, the Coordinator, Mogaji Jelili Adanla, the Financial Secretary, Mogaji Ademola Olasomi and my humble self, to desist forthwith from going to Olubadan’s palace.
“You recall that about a month ago, some yet to be identified gunmen stormed the Popoyemoja palace and shot sporadically to disrupt the peace there. Three of you journalists also escaped death by mere whiskers. What is befalling our land, what has come over us in this great city, why are people showing impunity and lawlessness because they wield powers today, forgetting that tomorrow is greater than today?
“And unfortunately too, other supporters of Kabiyesi are equally not left out in their threat. These people include our revered Osi Olubadan, High Chief Rashidi Ladoja, palace spokesman, Adeola Oloko, Tairu Akande, Prince Asawale Asanike including three other Mogajis; Badmus Adewale, Fatai Olanrewaju and Kosoko,” Oladoja stressed as others in attendance also affirmed the call threats in unison.
Asked if the group had reported to the police for proper investigation, Oladoja said they are reaching out to them first through the public as represented by the media, adding that the group was disturbed that the fleeing gunmen were yet to be brought to justice, few weeks after the dastard act. Oladoja therefore called on President Muhammadu Buhari and the Inspector General of Police to wade in and caution whoever was behind the threat and recent attack to desist forthwith because “God forbids, if anything happens to any of us, we won’t take it with levity as we shall go all out to avenge any uprising because nobody can intimidate or cow us for being customs’ fighter and standing by the Kabiyesi.
The group also called on the state Governor, Abiola Ajimobi, to call the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state to order for their uncomplimentary remarks on the ongoing crisis between the government and the Olubadan.
http://www.akelicious.com/2017/10/our-lives-under-threat-ibadan-family.html?m=1 This is a political problem created by political greediness, that can be solved by political solution! Now that Ibadan in their bid to continue domination of oyo state politic had turn against themselves, Now the solution left for Olubadan and magajis is to run for their safety through oke-ogun governorship, adopted Adebayo shittu, for governor and regain their title back, anything sorts of that they were wasting their time and resources! |

RipplesNigeria: EXPOSED: How local school authorities scam poor parents and undermine free education policy in Lagos
Nigeria is estimated to have the highest number of out-of-school children globally, with over 10.5 million children, according to United Nations Educational Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO). Of this lot, Lagos State is said to share 33,000 of the number, as noted in a 2014 DFID report. The majority of the children live in rural areas and the antics of local school authorities contribute highly in forcing them out of school. Ripples Nigeria, in this investigation, unravels the corrupt acts of some local school authorities in Ajegunle, Lagos state.
For Peter and friends, there won’t be school this term or even next term!
On a cool Monday morning at a slum in Ajegunle, a surbub in Ajeromi-Ifelodun Local Government Area of Lagos State, Peter Adekanbi, an 11-year-old boy who had just concluded primary education in a public school, and waiting to be enrolled in a public secondary school, was lost in a game of football.
Peter Adekanbi… Has beautiful dreams about schooling He was not alone.
There were six other children, aged between 7-12 years, who were enjoying the round-leather game with Adekanbi. Many other teens in Tolu-Ajegunle community loafed around while their mates were in different schools learning. This Monday morning held no special attraction to these seemingly jobless young lads. Just, perhaps.
Adekanbi loved football but he also had beautiful dreams about schooling. When asked why he was not in school but playing football on a Monday morning, he said: “I have not paid the N1, 500 registration fee the principal of Alakoto Junior Secondary School asked my mum to pay.
“We are in the middle of the first term and I do not think I will go to school this term again or even next term because my mum does not have money.” Adekanbi hurried back to join others who had suspended play in his absence.
Alakoto Junior High School… Adekanbi’s mom could not afford the fee Adekanbi’s case is one of the thousands in Ajegunle where parents lament that authorities in public primary and secondary schools deprive their children of education, as a result of the inability to pay some illegal fees and other levies imposed by the schools.
Some parents in Ajegunle, who felt the need to send their children to school as a result of persuasions by concerned Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) and individuals, alleged that the corrupt practice of collecting money from them, in the form of fees and sundry levies, forced families to withdraw their children from schools.
A mother’s cry… ‘I took them home since I couldn’t afford to pay’
Adekanbi’s tale was amplified by a mother in her late 30s who simply identified herself as Iya Aminat. She shared the story of her encounter with authorities at Wowo Nursery and Primary school, Ajegunle, where she had made futile attempts to enrol three of her children. “The child I wanted to put there was to be enrolled in primary one but the teacher demanded N3, 000. The other child was to be enrolled in a nursery class, but the teacher asked me to pay N2, 000 before the child could be admitted.”
Wowo Nursery/Primary School… Iya Aminat took the kids home because she couldn’t afford to pay Iya Aminat’s pleas for some concessions fell on deaf ears, and when the authorities insisted that she had to part with the exact fees, she sought cheaper alternatives that were far from her abode. “I now took them home since I could not afford to pay. I then took them to Apapa. At a school in Apapa, they collected N500 for one of my children to be enrolled in a nursery class. Apapa is very far from here (Ajegunle). Sometimes, if there is no money for transport, they will stay at home and not go to school for days, sometimes weeks,” she said.
Iya Aminat, whose abode is a decrepit one-room apartment, runs a make-shift tailoring outfit in the same one-room structure which she shares with the rest of the family. She fears that if nothing is done to alleviate the plight of the poor, many parents would end up not sending their children to school. She added that there were already numerous children in the area who had stopped going to school.

Only option left for Nigeria populace on Education is: Parent SchoolParent School will be a School administer by student parents of the School. |
Politics › Re: The Anti Corruption 'Fight' Of Property Confiscation by oladeebo: 9:05am On Oct 20, 2017 |
Listic1: What I have serious trouble understanding in the present 'fight against corruption' is what I am about to relay. How can the EFCC and the courts confiscate a person's property who has not yet been found guilty of fraud or any crime for that matter? The one that leaves a sour taste in my mouth, as a lawyer, is the fact that they do this using only, or mostly, MOTION EXPARTE! Who makes these laws or rules?
The case of Cecilia Ibru seems unimpeachable in this respect. These days, however, you keep hearing of forfeitures from Ex-Minister, Ex-First-Lady, Ex-This, Ex-That and yet no one is being prosecuted for any offence. The one that wants to come down and defend herself they said she should remain where she is; that they are not prepared for her yet. But they go on confiscating her properties! This cannot be proper!
If we desire to break the backbone of corruption in Nigeria, we must not toy with our adherence to due process. To do otherwise simply means we are corrupting the system. And you know what? A corrupt system cannot 'fight', I would rather use, neutralise, corruption! Please, don't get it muddled up, well, you can if you want.
This is by no stretch of the imagination a request for soft landing for people who are alleged to have stolen our commonwealth. See, anyone who is found culpable should and must pay for their misstep to the fullest extent allowed by law. Those guys don't give a damn. I, too, don't care! My call is only that due process must be followed religiously. Except we do so, we will only be making nonsense of the effort to put society back on track!
By Listic1; @ODNEsq sorry Mr lawyer! ..the system short-change your income? but Nigerian needed their assets badly for their own survival now! Lawyer can wait for the better time for ripping! |

rumours: Yeah. I have issues with QUOTA SYSTEM. In fact I hate it. That is part of why Nigeria is not working. I want merit to be the basis for every consideration in Nigeria. Are you aware that in Northern Nigeria, people score 10 and less to get admitted into the Federal Govt Colleges? Whereas in Southern Nigeria, people score 139 - same exam, same admission. Does it make sense. It is the same thing even in their higher institutions. You and I know this except you are pretending. rumours. but you should have face the reality here! majority governors who passed out from ABU or North were not only Northerner and the admission is never restricted to Non-Northerner why rely on rumours for your fact? |

The lady identified as Miss Vivian said that Nigerians should be appreciative for their services unless they are ready to pick up guns to fight for the country themselves.
She said this while celebrating 6 years anniversary of her colleagues who graduated from the Nigerian police academy as she shared their photos to mark their achievements.
Below is what she wrote on Facebook;
And it's already late been busy all day... Unless You Are Willing To Pick A Gun And Defend Your Country.... I Suggest You Stop Criticizing Those Who Are!!!!! And Be Thankful For Our Services....

Politics › Re: 2019 Election: Why APC Will Not Support Young People – Joe Igbokwe by oladeebo: 8:56am On Oct 19, 2017 |
nwakibie3: The Publicity Secretary of the All Progressive Congress, APC, Lagos State Chapter, Joe Igbokwe has given reasons the party at national level, cannot support young persons seeking to be Nigeria’s president.
The APC chieftain, who doubles as Chairman of the Lagos State Wharf Landing Fees Collecting Authority, said the young ones do not know the country.
Stating why the party would not support the “Not Too Young To Run” campaign, Igbokwe asserted that experience was required to hold a political post in Nigeria.
He also advised the youths to wait until they were old enough to hold political posts.
“When a young person is coming in, experience matters. The young person who is going to come, we want to know his pedigree – where are you coming from, what are you capable of doing,” he told SaharaReporters.
“If you pick a young person and make a governor, when he gets to that seat, he won’t know where to start from because you don’t have the experience and have not done that kind of job before.
“The young person cannot teach the old traditions; they should go and learn the trade because you can’t give what you don’t have. I will tell young people to be patient and not sound like a wailer.
“They don’t understand this country; the young ones are not seeing anything because they don’t want to see it,” he said.
