U beat me to dis, I was about posting it. F1 moved by 1month 14days, F4 moved by 2weeks. omo! dis fiscal year kinda slow o!

It does happen and the interview date will fall in the next month when his PD will be due.

Same happened to me, I got my interview confirmation in the month before my PD was current but it was for early the next month when my PD would be current. They have insight into what PDs will be current next month and start scheduling interviews.

Wow!... confirmed from two sources now. Then it's no longer a mistake then

The next bulletin might see him being current thats why he was contacted. Either that or the cue here in naija is not much. Any which way, our prayer is for them to move faster so at least by the new year we can join our loved ones. Whats your PD and where are they on the current bulletin of the F4? Who knows it might come earlier than the 3months you are anticipating.

My PD is earliest October and d current bulletin for F4 is June8...Just 3months and some days to go. January 2018 bulletin should be out next week.

Hi koolkesh. Great to have you here. Looks like a lot of us under F1 category with PD 2011 got our welcome letter same time. My friend whose pd is Jan 2011 and interview date is tomorrow 5th of Dec. We both got our welcome letters the same day. 7th of June. But the pd differenciates everyone cos the earlier the P.D, the earlier the interview date.

All your Original documents will be given back to you. But you need to make the photocopies they requested for cos thats what they will package on your sealed documents that you will submit to the CBP at the Port of entry when u get to the U.S. so its important you go with all the photocopies of the documents you have. Including the photocopies of the originals with them. Cos they said if u don't come with photocopies, they will keep the originals. And if u have to make photocopies at the embassy, na your money go talk. LolzZZ.



Anyone with additional info that will help can chip in. I will also ask my friend when he comes back from his interview.

Hi guys. How are u all doing? Compliments of the season. So i am on VJ. (Visa Journey forum) once in while i read through especially the F1 family based category. So imagine my surprise, Reading on the forum this morning, saw a Nigerian in the Forum, who just got him Interview letter yesterday and amazingly his his PD is March 2011, and the current PD is 1st Feb 2011. I was like wow! Which means they might not be following the bulletin, or the Cue in Nigeria is not much on the immigrant visa processing , who knows. Even the guy said he was surprised to receive his IL this soon. Hoping for speedy movements. @ Oladeep how are u doing? Hope u have gone to collect your NPC attestation of BC

U mean d guy got IL before his PD? That's a very rare case o. I guess that must have been a mistake cos one almost impossibly gets IL before PD. as per my attestation, I'm still chilling till like when my PD remains a month to be current, then I will go and get it. I still have 3months and some days to go for my PD to be current. I'm hopeful

I would try to search if I have a copy of it, because I would not want any more delays at this point. But I honestly hope it won't be a problem considering they did not give me a checklist after my case was complete.

Just want to also mention that in the visa bulletin list, there is a chart for "Dates for filing Family-Sponsored Visa Application" the chart shows the priority date of those to receive welcome letter, So people can actually monitor to see when they should have been contacted with a welcome letter.

I also submitted d local govt BC and it was accepted. I wonder why they had to ask u to send attestation though. u will have to email NVC and inform them about d submission of ur attestation of birth and make an arrangement on how to get d original copy back cos u will have to submit photocopies and original of ur documents on d day of ur interview.

K1 visa is a fiancee visa. Ask ur spouse to file I-130 form for u and pay the required fees. Visit travel.state.gov and get informations from there.

Hi Chekey, Oladeep, to clarify the local government certificate is indeed acceptable if you do not have the NPC certificate.

When I say local government certificate I mean the long form version which has details of both parents including occupation address at birth etc. not the small A3 sized version.

Depending on when you were born you can get either the NPC attestation or the local government certificate, whichever is easier for you.

My application was put on hold because I went with the A3 version and I posted the local government long form from Lagos Mainland local govt to the embassy and got my immigrant visa.


This is the US visa reciprocity webpage which explains what is required and as you can see in certain circumstances based on when you were born you can submit the local government long form. The key thing they want to see is all the details contained on the long version rather than the short version which has limited information.

Alternate Documents: For people born prior to 1979 or in some cases prior to 1988, a birth certificate issued by a Local Government Authority or a hospital or a baptismal certificate is acceptable. There is also the National Population Commission Attestation of Birth Certificate issued to people whose birth occurred before 1979 when the National Population Commission issued birth certificate was first introduced as a pilot program. Any of these is acceptable..

Have u seen any that has exceeded 1year?. Within that time frame the case will become current. Otherwise NVC will not contact you. They normally estimate the time, thats why they contact ppl ahead of time.

Like for instance lets say u get welcome letter from nvc this november to start filling forms and sending documents, it will not get to Nov of next year. U will get an interview date before november of next year. Everyone i have seen doing it, doesn't get to a year.. For instance even our fellow nairalander chokey419, who got his welcome letter september last year, despite the delay as he was given a Checklist to still submit an additional document, got his interview date for August of this year. So it took him 11months despite the delay. My friend who got his welcome letter in June finished the NVC processing and got his interview date for december. So he just spent 6months at the NVC stage.

No interview till one's PD is current regardless if the processing exceeds a year or not.

July 2011 on F1 could go into late 2018 to be current. My pal has resigned his fate to 2021..his pd is August 2007 on F4.

Naaah!...F1 used to be d fastest , dunno what's making it to move at snail pace lately... July 2011 PD should be current in d first quarter of next year. so many factors do affect d movement though.

My Sister na so we see am ooo!...my category moved by 17days. Slowly but surely...we shall get there.

Am OK bro. God will take control. Our waiting will not be in vain. Am just praying for the speedy movement of the visa bulletin. My friend's case became current this Nov. His PD is Jan 2011. And his C.C was just last month, unlike ours that was Sept. Its just that retrogression, that delayed us, otherwise am sure by now our cases would have been current. Oluwa is involved

I pray I get current before February 2018 max...right now, I'm bothered about dis Trump guy. The guy wanna send a bill to congress to scrap DV visa lottery and some categories in the FB. I just hope it won't affect those of us that have already gotten CC from NVC and waiting patiently for an interview date...Olorun o ni fun se!

Hello VO, Please how do we confirm if my Mom's SB1 application was approved? They didn't specify if it was approved or not when she went for her interview. The VO only told her she will still need to apply for an immigrant visa and come again for another interview later but didn't specify if it was approved or not...Please help...Thanks

Yeah I'm in F4 waiting patiently for an interview. Seems u are in US judging from ur response right? I quite agree with you on d boredom aspect. US can really be boring for a JJC but d moment u get a job and build a family, then I guess ur days of boredom would be over.

That's where the problem lies...They believe US is boring for them to live in. My parents were once LPR but they eventually lost d status due to their inability to maintain it.

@Chuksmonika...U are right... The parents will get citizenship after 5years and when they file for u, u fall under F1(If u are unmarried)which takes another 7years wait(dis option isn't cool). The other option which is lesser is when they file for u as a LPR then u fall under F2B (son and daughters 21yrs above)which is 7years wait. So I think d latter is better
