CR1 is conditional spouse visa, IR1 is immediate relative. When u are married to a U.S citizen , you are considered as a conditional spouse within the first 2yrs. Once the marriage is 2yrs old the condition is removed.

Lemme buttress ur point... CR1 is a conditional spouse visa for a marriage below 2years cos some people do sham marriage for immigration purpose. So if you are still married after two years, the condition will be removed and if not , ur green card will be revoked. IR1 is a spouse visa above 2years, no condition in this cos they believe a marriage above 2years before immigration process is genuine and cannot be a sham.

The wait was worth it. My interview was brief. Some others lasted for so long. There is a lady who had a thing for pictures, but I didn't go with any picture I took with my mum because the few I had were ruined by poor storage. However God directed me to one guy with a Chinese look. Here is what transpired

VO: good morning and how are you?
Me: good morning. Am fine and U?
VO: am great. Raise ur right hand and take an oath...I did.
VO: are u married?
Me: no
VO: any kids?
Me: yes, three kids.
VO: Are u traditionally married?
Me: No
VO: let me get this right, how do you have three kids with one woman and live together without being married?
Me: I don't live with my girlfriend
VO: explain to me how this scenario is possible
Me: I plan to commence my PhD soon in the US. When my girlfriend had the first child which we didn't plan for, she confronted me with a request to know the future of the relationship. Because I understand the immigration process, I opened up to her and informed her that I have this immigrant petition ongoing and I didn't want to prolong the process by changing marrital status. Having known that this will affect my career plans, she accepted and we moved on.
VO: That is fantastic. You have two siblings in the US?
Me: yes
VO: older or younger?
Me: one is older and works at .......and the other is younger and schools at ....
VO: one of them petitioned for your mum right?
Me: Yes, the older one
VO: Congrats I will just go on and approve your visa. Hands me white papers containing pick up details.

That's a CR1 or IR1 visa category depending on the years of marriage. It takes like a year or more from approval to Interview.

U can start the filing process right away. As an unmarried adult child of a USC, u fall under the F1 category and it takes approximately 7 years for u to get a visa. Just ask ur parents to visit uscis.gov, file an I-130 form for u and pay the necessary fees. Thousands of people file everyday, so u need to act now to get on d queue fast.

No. I meant from welcome letter to I.L. cos everyone I had seen, from welcome letter to I.L has not exceeded 1yr. Well at least since the time of Obama. And so far, till now. My mum recently called NVC to find out what's up, and to ask questions on how things are done. I also got my case completed in September, but cos I had another baby, we had to include also to the case. She asked them to explain better what they mean by cases expiring after 1yr when its still at NVC. They told her once a case is complete and already in line for an interview, it doesn't expire. It is when a case is still with the owners and not complete before a period of 1yr passes, they will start the case afresh with fresh payments.

Got my welcome letter in September, filled my forms with nvc in October and in December I was sent a mail that all requested documents have been received by NVC and that I am now in queue awaiting an appointment with the embassay, don't know if that is what you mean by case complete.

U argued with me sometimes ago that from the period one gets a welcome letter to when one gets a visa does not exceed a year. If I get my IL next month, that means I already exceeded a year cos I got my welcome letter last year May. Except if u meant from welcome letter to when one gets IL...

@oladeep, there is this pdf I downloaded on the operation of the immigrant numerical control system. There is a particular paragraph that explains how the piority date system works it states that for example, if the monthly target is 3000 applicants and the demand is 8000 applicants, they would establish a cut off date so that only 3000numbers would be allocated. So the cutoff would be the piority date of the 3001st applicant. I guessthis explains why you havent received your IL. Hang in there, u will definitely receive your IL EARLY next month.

As for F1 category I just hope it starts moving fast soon, from January till date it hasn't even moved up to a month, it's heartbreaking.

Thank u my Sister. I've got no choice than to wait patiently since I'm already at the end of the tunnel. The funny thing is that I got a case complete since last year September but since my PD wasn't current then, NVC had to keep it till it gets current recently. We shall all get there someday, It's just a matter of time. F1 used to be the fastest , only God knows why it started moving slowly lately.

Your Brother still has like 3yrs more. As at now, $445 for each applicant + medical fees for each person depending on d hospital of ur choice. u will have to wait for like a year max to get a visa after receiving welcome letter.

Wow!...It's cool hearing from Koolkesh and Stancima. I'm still waiting for my I.L after my case was current last week...I don't know how long it will take NVC to schedule an interview. I'm hopeful.

Yes that was what I asked my friend. He said he didn't have immunization records as well. He said they didn't ask. Or maybe u would have to pay extra. I don't know cos he said he used The children's practice and he paid 110k. Don't know why he paid that much cos the children's practice told me adult medicals is 100k when I called.. Even me I don't have immunization records. I've misplaced that of my 2boys. Its only their baby brothers own I have now, cos he's a few months Old.
But my friend told me its not a big deal if you don't have immunization records.

Ok...I don't trust those people. They will tell u a cheaper fee on phone just to book them for appointment and when u get there, they'll ask u for what they know u wouldn't have and thereby ask u for an additional fee to get it. They know u can't resist at that point...lol

You don't go for medicals when your case becomes current. You go for medicals when you Receive your I.L, because the hospital will require from you, Passport photographs, Your international Passport, Your I.L and your immunization records.

I don't have Immunization records...What will happen?
