Nothing will happen. The new immigration reform exempt spouse and minor children of both LPR and US citizen. So I'm covered and besides, In case the reform finally went through, guess there would be lesser wait time since enough visa go dey to go round d exempted family based.

But Oladeep, you getting married to your babe will not affect your status at all. She would follow you as your derivative. Because the wait time for siblings is usually the longest, that's why getting married does not affect their status. Unlike we in F1, if you get married your status changes to F3 and that means longer wait.

I know getting married won't affect my status, it's just d expenses involved that I'm worried about. Marriage, flight , AOS and some other expenses. It's better I go first, settle down and later bring over my family. Since wait time for F2A is barely two years, i would have gotten a good job, nice apartment before the 2years elapses and Besides, I don't wanna inconvenient my Sis with my family ish since I will be leaving with her for a while. se u get?...

That this one he chats with me on WhatsApp and I keep to myself. I told him why won't I keep to myself when he was acting like say person wan winchy am. Whether I wan come collect him travel documents from am ni, just to discuss how his interview went he started acting funny. Whether na like that I take behave towards am, when he was asking for help about his immigration process. He now apologized and made peace, I told him no hard feelings. He Called me yesterday that he is leaving naija next week. His younger Bro already left with his mom 2days ago. Told him I wish him all the best and he should make sure he comes back on time to file for his kids and get married to their mom. He said he will do that next year.

How many kids does he have? Thinking of impregnating my babe, engage her and later come back to marry her, file for her and my kid and later travel together. I'm afraid we might not end up together if I leave without engaging or being committed to her and I no wan lose that babe as she has been with me when I have nothing and still with me till now. She deserves d best and my Sis dey always tell me say wife no dey abroad o! lol. We can't go together for now considering all d expenses involved...abeg una advice is needed, those that have been in dis kinda situation.

Still on point...In summary, If eventually the congress reached an agreement on the new immigration reform bill, which isn't happening anytime sooner, those waiting in line will not be affected...Na wa o!... Dis Trrump guy na destiny killer.

Thanks everyone. It was successful. Got there on time, got on the queue, filed up inside after giving each us numbers. They returned document that they had in their custody. (Remember I told you guys my original birth certificate was with them, and I did declaration of age and the original was with them and I had no photocopy. It was not even an issue because they did not even ask me for anything.)

After that, it was biometric. Then the interview.

Questions:

1. Who petition for you
2. What does your mum do?
3. How many siblings do you have in the U.S
4. Where do you live?
5. Have you live somewhere else?
6. Are you married?
7. Do you have any kid?
8. Gave me a form to declare that if I should get married before I enter the U.S my visa would null and void.
9. Gave me a form about paying for my greencard before leaving.
10. Told me my passport would ne ready in 10 working days.

Was there from 6:30am to 9:50am. It was tiring. Thanks again for the good wishes, yours would come soon By His Grace.

@Stacyadams, E no hard nah, u follow up the movement with ur priority date. As u can see, there are different categories. just check ur category and see where they have reached.

There are factors that affect the bulletin movement. I know how it feels when one checks d bulletin and finds little or no movement. There was a time my category didn't move for like 6 months and it was kinda frustrating. I know u will be contacted by March. All u need is a "little little" patience...

earliest October...Still have like 2months

February 2018 bulletin...there were movements in all categories except F1.

That's the latest news ooo. The new immigration reform. My mom was just updating on what the reps have tddecided so far. They are cutting down diversity visa lottery by 50%, and for family based They said green card holders must become citizens before sponsoring adult children. That's what I have heard so far.
Don't know whether the bill has been passed though, but any way they go, let God take control.

If that's all they have decided, no problem then.

Hey pretty16, yes I had to pay the $220 which is for the production of the green card itself.

It is advised you pay for it before you enter the US to avoid any delays in the production which took about a month for me, but it's fine if you pay after entry as well as your stamped immigrant visa is proof of your status.

One thing to note if you plan to start applying for jobs asap I will advise paying before entry to get the card as some employers don't understand that they can accept the stamped visa and may be difficult.

It is not a new fee though it recently increased from $160 I think.

I didn't pay mine till I got here. But it didn't stop me from applying for my social security number, drivers license and jobs. Most jobs want your ssn and once you have it Its all good.

So it's a matter of choice....Thanks for ur input.

Hi peeps. Longtime . what's good? @ Oladeep. I heard after approval of Visa , there's another fee to be paid before leaving the shores of naija. $220 visa processing fee. Heard without payment of this fee, green card will be delayed. @ Chokey419, pls confirm this, did u pay the immigrant visa fee of $220 before leaving naija? Heard as soon as ur interview is done and you are approved, they will give u the form with instructions on how to pay? Guessing its a new policy, cos peeps that did theirs way way back said there was no such payment during their time.

I'm fine and u? Yeah d fee is for permanent residence card. It's not compulsory to pay d fee before leaving naija but it's advisable to do so cos of POE uncertainties. Please those who have gone through dis should come clarify if they pay d fee before or after they left naija...

Yes P4 letter is the same as interview letter. I got mine on the 2nd of Dec.

The guy I posted his interview questions got notification that his passport was ready on 22nd of Dec the next day after his interview.

Excited about this forum...... My dad filed for 6 of us.... Petition took almost a year to be approved, NVc took almost a year too... Just did our interview NoV 14......No visa yet though... But interview went well, but DNA was requested which we r yet to do..... In case ur got any questions for me, feel free to ask me.

What birth certificate did u guys use? NPC or Local government issued one? and besides, did u guys receive interview letter some weeks to ur priority date too?

A Nigerian on VJ had his interview recently and he posted the question they asked him at the interview, I just thought I'd share his experience here as well.

"Interview concluded.

Visa Approved.

Lagos Nigeria.

I was scheduled for 6:30am, and I was pretty much done at 9am. Interview lasted about 2 mins.



Questions asked were:

Whos filing for you?

Ans: My Dad.

Tell me about your dad, like what does he do?

How long has he been in the US?

How often do you talk to him?

What medium do you guys use to communicate?

When last was he in Nigeria?



Visa was granted afterwards. No document was checked.

Finally, my 7 year wait is over. Wow

Wanna give a little update on the medicals I did. I had my medicals in the hospital in Abuja. I initially paid N80,900 but had to pay an additional N13,900 for 3 vaccination (because I could not present my old vaccination records). I got there 8am left there around 1:30pm (I was the 18th person) although the nurse told us some staffs are currently on leave because of the festive season, so manpower reduced a little, hence the delay. I was required to bring along the p4 letter, my international passport and a copy of the payment (either transfer or bank teller).

I hope this information would be useful for someone.

At a point, I wondered why u didn't actually share his experience at d embassy after u had promised to do so. Forget him, his experience is irrelevant. It's certain u gonna get ur visa so far u can prove ur relationship with ur petitioner and provide all other documents they required. Countless number of people have shared their experience here on NL and we've all learned from it. For example is ttmacoy, he's always willing to help. He thought he has actually scaled through forgetting he's still gonna pass through POE. I don't wish him bad o, sharing his experience is just for d fun of it. I know he's still gonna need ur help for some info but he won't know how to ask u cos he knows he already fvcked up.
