Realistically I think reform is overdue with family based petitions.
Honestly F4 is ridiculous 20 years for some regions like Philippines
14 for others. With the slow pace of movement of f3 or f4 and the fact that the petition is invalid on death of petitioner it's not practical to continue the way it is.

Even if there has to be a reform, don't expect it in Trump's administration. The long wait is killing I swear...

To be honest my brother. I really don't know maybe their style has changed. But the V.O said NPC issues birth certificate to those born after 1992. Those born before 1992 that I know that have gone for their immigrant visas used the attestation of birth from NPC. So the only way u can know is either u wait, during your interview if they collect your local government birth certificate, that's fine. But if they ask u to go get an attestation, hope it wouldn't be the latter though. Hate to say we told u so... Anyways just wait till your interview. Or if you know anyone who has recently gone for their interview, or going before u, you can find out from them which birth certificate they used.

Guess I will have to wait for d interview to avoid unnecessary spending. I believe since d VO has made it clear that those born prior to 1992 can tender any form of birth documentation then I believe no problem but e go pain me If they delay me further by asking me to provide NPC birth Attestation...

I saw it and that was why I commented on it again. When I did mine, I was made to get an affidavit from court as I was born before 1992 and after 1992 doesn't have to. But I don't know if it has changed as Pretty 16th stated, it's either that VO doesn't know it is before 1992 or NPC folks do for everyone because of money.

My last advice to u is go to their office to find out if ur DOB is exempt.

Taking a hard look on his comment, NPC does for folks born after 1992 now and that's the acceptable one to them at the embassy.

But d VO clearly stated that those born prior to 1992 can tender any form of birth documentation and those born after 1992 are expected to tender NPC birth Attestation...Nevertheless, I will try and confirm from people that have gone for d interview.

I agree with you elfmann. I think oladeep should get the NPC birth certificate, to avoid any form of delay, unless their pattern has changed cos change is a constant thing in life. I remember when the former V.O, back in 2014, told someone who asked a question about birth certificate to get an Npc , that its what the embassy recognizes. if you have been on nairaland for a while, you would know her. That was when nairaland travel section was so addictive. God bless that V.O wherever she is. Those that met her during their interview were lucky. The woman is just an amazing human being. Always answering question on peoples cases, even when she was out of the country on vacation, she will still respond to questions

I just called my friend. He received his case complete email this morning . so happy for him. Which means he would be getting an email for an interview date maybe by next month. Cos his PD is 2nd of Jan and Nov bulletin is 22 of Jan

Honestly, cos d way d guy has been dishing out executive orders lately ehn!...They might have reduced d allocation of visa numbers for each fiscal years to frustrate d whole thing. Imagine F4 has only moved 2weeks in d past 7months and which has never happened before. Look at it dis way, Trump was sworn in January and by March, There has been little or no movement in d bulletin...Just thinking out loud though.

Wow its out. Just 2 weeks. Wish its moved more than that though. This makes my friend current, cos his is in January. But na lawyer them carry their case give. Be like the lawyer dey slow things down. Cos the guy don tire for the matter. Still wondering why his mom didn't handle the filing herself.

Yes the embassy will only accept the long form issued by the national population commission so you should try to get it from a local government before your interview. It isn't hard to get.

Bro, I just checked it now. The one I have is issued by the local government and not d hospital, it has d local government stamp on it. I just wanna be sure to avoid unnecessary spending.

Nope Oladeep, they don't ooo. U have to go to National population commission. I think the office is in surulere to get it. You also have to go with your passport photograph and some money. Back then it was 2500, but if u want it express, u pay higher. You also need a sworn affidavit from your mum to take with u to their office to get it. Don't know if they still request for that though. Got mine as far back as 2009. The certificate looks like this : Attestation of birth

Yes that is correct. I didn't even know that version existed and went with the smaller one we get from the hospital. I had to go and get the national population commission version and post to the embassy before I was issued my visa.

If you already have it then you're good to go, if not try to get it before the interview.

Bro, u mean Embassy will not accept d birth certificate that was issued at birth at d hospital on d day of interview? Mine was issued at a fee of #1naira then and is d one used for d filing. It's old and I had to even laminate it before it completely torn apart.

The funniest thing is that so many people leave their life and daily activities hanging while waiting for this Visa of a thing...I can imagine 14 years and still waiting..That sucks !!

I think once you have received a letter,The process then goes faster probably within a year because my mum did the same time.You might only experience little delay if you should go for interview and they have doubt about your relationship with person that filed.Then both parties will have to provide DNA test which normally takes another 3 to 4 month.The longest waiting period is while waiting for your petition which elapse to about more than 10 years depending on the petitioner.

yeah the process becomes faster d moment one receives welcome letter. unfortunately, one still has to wait for d PD to be current before one can be schedule for an interview even after getting a CC from NVC

Did u say 2months after PD gets current. My PD is July 2011. Gosh and they are still on Dec 2010.
If not for the retrogression, am sure by now mY case would have been current. I really hope and pray we get an interview date before my moms 60th bday next year. Cos said no celebration without us, especially her grandkids.

Hopefully ur PD should be current btw 3-4months time. U should get an interview date in 6months max. I still have 4months to go for my PD to be current. The most important thing is having being placed on queue for an interview. I hope d bulletin moves faster in d coming months...

Two months after one's PD gets current. I think the first month is for medicals and the following month is for an interview...I think u should get yours soonest cos your category moves fastest among the FB categories.

Yes submitted month end, so by my calculations it's been 5weeks and they said wait 11weeks to hear from them. My PD is 2011. Honestly I don't understand how that Visa bulletin stuff works.

So u need to wait for another 6weeks. However, due to the large number of applicants in the family based visa preference and to control the influx of immigrants into the United States, the USCIS had decided to allocate a specific number of visas to each family based category and this visa numbers must not be exceeded in a fiscal year and that's d more reason applicants had to wait on queue for years before they can be eligible to apply for a visa. The visa bulletin is released between 7th and 15th of every month and it shows the movement of the priority dates of each category. So u need to follow up on the VB on their site. Lastly, your priority date is the day you file a petition to USCIS. They already reached December 2010 for F1 category but it retrogressed to May 2010 in the recently released VB for d month of September and most likely it will return to normalcy next month...
