Please what was in place then to ensure the optimal supply of PMS for domestic consumption if subsidy had been removed? Did Dangote refinery or snything like it exist back then?

Believe what you want but Tinubu , even if he is not above the usual political brinksmanship all politicians are guilty of worldwide, is always sincere in search of solutions.

Jonathan was simply throwing hollow rhetoric around to decieve Nigerians as usual. Think about it. Remove fuel subsidy with comatose State refineries?

We would have experienced the mother of all fuel scarcity and social unrest combined with the worst socio-economic downturn in our history post independence.

Now Nigeria is fully prepared with the effort of the APC government, and Tinubu directly, to see the Dangote "game changer" refinery become a reality. Thst is how it is done.
I will not go in to any unnecessary argument with a tinubu supporter.
Jonathan govt published how it was going to cushioned the effect of subsidy but he was throwing hollow rhetoric around.
But Tinubu that organized mighty protests, calling subsidy fake, granting interviews up and down and today is backing subsidy removal without any palliatives to cushion the effect is not throwing hollow rhetoric around.
In 6 months to a year,I hope to start seeing the tinubu magic on Nigeria since his supporters believe he is some sort of savior and messiah.
If anything is hollow here,it’s your empty defense but then you’re a known tinubu supporter so your leaning is no surprise.

You know, so many things are about the very poor understanding of our problems by the average Nigerian adult who, by nature, is an arrogant creature more prepared to insult others than to accept correction and learn. It should not be so ordinarily.

This is what worries me and somewhat dullens my optimism about our development potential despite conventionally abundant material/mineral endowment.

The very poor human resources of Nigeria is a worry because the average Nigerian is over-religious and hardly read/research substantial topic to better their understanding of the problem vs solution mix of Nigeria.

All that most know to do is cause problems or add to problems with ignorant, childish and grosssly uinformed argument.

What most adult Nigerians need to be up to speed with today is the concept of the full deregulation of the downstream sector because it is crucial to the development of Nigeria and optimal usage of our crude endowment to facilitate that.

This will immediately help Nigerians understand what is happening with fuel subsidy removal, essentially with the succesful removal being a part of the journey and not the destination, all the way up to seeing the big and complete picture that will be beautidul for Nigeria once achieved.

I am tired even bro.

https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S2405844021009518#:~:text=Deregulation%20is%20the%20method%20of,common%20to%20the%20downstream%20oil.

So why was it opposed by the same Tinubu during another president’s time?
I’m just imagining how far we might have come if it has been since that time.
But Tinubu opposed it then because of his own future personal ambitions so those who criticize him have their points.

It’s even possible the shegey you are going through is worse than the people you are making jest of.

Why did the petrol stations close? Any justification for this. Doesn't it show that the masses are their own problems and not even our leaders?

As daft as Peter Obi is...he himself made it point blank that he would removed the subsidy. It doesn't matter when it be removed. What matters is it removal. All hands are on deck for a successful government no matter how much the self deluded may want to cry.

If you stand before obi will you call him daft?

Why ae you calling your biological father a fool? Even if he is, can't you keep your family secret? Why are you telling the whole world?

This is yet another proof that Tinubu is the number one politician in Africa. When he was in opposition, he did not let the ruling government to rest, now that he is in government, nobody is ready to oppose him. This shows that PDP and Labourers Pary are useless, PDP failed as ruling party, it has also failed as opposition. What PDP could not do for 16 wasted years, Emilokan Tinubu did it in his first 30 minutes in govenment, yet no single protest.

Secondly, I'd love to mention just incase you aren't aware that you are a leashed rabid dog that is mentally deranged.

Thirdly, I will like to educate you if your brain can comprehend it, that we cannot continue to enrich a few through the fuel subsidy scam. We will endure the pain and make the sacrifice for the future.

Lastly, although you and your cohorts hate to hear it, but Nigeria will be great, will flourish and will prosper starting from Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu's tenure as President.

You can go back to your cage now, dog!

I bought dollar @ ₦780 on Friday.

So what magic do you want new President to perform about weak Naira? Does he have a dollar-printing machine?

His only realistic approach would be to convince multinational oil companies to increase their investments in Nigeria to raise our oil production to about 3m barrels per day. But even this option would take a few years to achieve.
The excuse for tinubu failure have started in earnest 😂😂

Ndi "my profession only flourishes in Nigeria" yen yen yen!
Lol I was trying to helps friend look for info (and he is not on nairaland nor is he an internet person) he was so desperate to leave and want to know his chance of success.
The said friend is now in USA and has now even gotten married to a white woman.
It’s up to you to believe me or not.

Wrong assumption.

My lady friend in US is currently working at Amazon...
My guy in Norway just got his citizenship and has a wonderful career...
Some of my friends in the UK are either running their Post graduate programs or pursuing rewarding careers...ASUU got nothing on them cheesy

If you mean that they have nothing (good) to return to, then you're right.

No be everybody dey "pack old people sh.it" for abroad.
Go and join them there sir.

the chap is confused .why would any person sell his house ,resign from his job to move to Canada to do Uber and manage inside basement apartment or shared apartment .Dem swear for una ! PhD holder are riding cabs cos they say they don't have Canadian work expirence . Some body go get apartment to wuse ,lekki and dey managerial level then leave all go start Uber and basement apartment no be juju be that how year man wan live self .
My wife was threatening me with divorce and all sorts of threat when she saw I’m not even taking her serious about relocating with her.
She even complained to my dad and mum and her parents as well and they all said I should go and join her.
Even some of my colleagues (well I don’t blame them)
are saying same thing and one of them will leave soon for Uk on Study visa(even though he doesn’t know I am aware) through a property agent I got to know he has put up some things for sale. That’s nothing but madness to me.
I might not be rich but bro I am so comfortable here and I’ve not even reached the top of my career, I started only seven years ago.
Why then should I leave all these based on propaganda bullshits, especially when Im not doing bad here and the future prospect is good....Nigeria is not in good shape I agree, but no where is actually easy and for a vast majority of migrants, it’s struggle continue.
I look at my own self for example I have a profession in which the only place I’m sure of success is Nigeria,I’m not in to tech, banking or medical line like my wife. So if I relocate and do masters and PhD what next?
The highest I will be able to get is a lecturing job which is scarce and not readily available.
So laslas na caregiver job,Uber or customer care I go Dey do. God forbid.
Nigerians are too gullible and suffers from inferiority complex , it’s true there are so many challenges here but it’s scary when you see people who have reached a certain point in their career here and seems to be doing good abandons everything to start all over in uncertainty because they only sees what media paint about abroad as paradise without blemishes.

When you glorify your Canada like you always do, also let people know the piles of challenges they will certainly face there......... it’s not a bed of roses anywhere. Don’t just launder and talk about the good side.
Atleast as somebody that is so knowledgeable I can identify and affirm that majority of what the Op post about the disadvantages of going abroad is true and even more.
But of course majority of Nigerians only want to hear bad news about the country and posts like that of the op is irritating to them.
And the way you abroadians always attack these kind of posts is something else.
