The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) national caretaker committee has described the defeat of the Boko Haram by chasing them out of the Sambisa forest as a great milestone in the fight against insurgency in the country.

In a statement signed by its spokesman, Dayo Adeyeye, the party, however, noted that the success resulted from the strong foundation laid by the Goodluck Jonathan administration.

The statement pointed out that the boost recorded by the war against insurgents was what made it possible for the 2015 general elections to hold in those war-ravaged parts of the North Eastern parts of the country.


The PDP also stated that the clearing of the Sambisa forest is a critical milestone but not the
end of the war against the insurgency.

It urged the Federal Government and the military to not rest on their oars until the entire North East is rid completely of them.”

“Beyond Sambisa all the other forests which criminals used as hideouts and bases must equally be cleared by the military. Forests such as Birnin Gwari, Zamfara, Southern Kaduna, Enugu and Benue have become killing fields. They must all be cleared of criminal elements.” The statement added.

The opposition party said: “We congratulate Nigerians for this important milestone in the long and bitter struggle against the forces of evil that have wreaked so much suffering and hardship on our people in the last few years.

“We also congratulate the President for his dogged pursuit of the war against the insurgency. We are happy that he has built on the efforts of his predecessors. Whatever we are witnessing now is as a result of all the efforts and sacrifices of the past and present.

“Nigerians and the international community will recall that the war effort received a major boost in the weeks leading up to the 2015 general elections. The insurgents were virtually annihilated – a feat that made it possible for elections to hold peacefully in almost all the Local Government Areas of all the states in the North East last year. We are therefore very much delighted with the continuation of this great effort by the President.”

It continued: “We salute the men and women of our beloved armed forces. Their courage, determination and sacrifice made this achievement possible. The men and women of the Nigerian armed forces have served and continue to serve with distinction in many peacekeeping operations all over the world. We salute them for fighting with great courage to keep the peace in their own Country.

“We also thank the international community for their support and encouragement particularly, those countries that have helped in the procurement of critical military hardware.

What is Kyphosis?
Kyphosis is from Greek word κυφός kyphos meaning a[b] hump[/b]. It refers to the abnormally excessive convex kyphotic curvature of the spine as it occurs in the cervical, thoracic and sacral regions.

Kyphosis, also known as a round back or hunchback, is a condition in which the spine in the upper back has an excessive curvature. The upper back, or thoracic region of the spine, is supposed to have a slight natural curve. The spine naturally curves in the neck, upper back, and lower back to help absorb shock and support the weight of the head. Kyphosis occurs when this natural arch is larger than normal.

Types of Kyphosis
There are several types of kyphosis.

Postural Kyphosis
If you can correct the hump in your back, then you most likely have postural kyphosis. As the name implies, it's related to poor posture. The hump in postural kyphosis is very round and smooth.

Structural Kyphosis
A hump caused by structural kyphosis can't be corrected just by thinking about your posture. Structural kyphosis involves a problem with a part of the spine, such as a deformity in the vertebrae. The hump caused by structural kyphosis is much more angular than a hump caused by postural kyphosis. A particularly sharp, angular curve is called a gibbus deformity. In diagnosing structural kyphosis, the doctor will look for a gibbus.

Structural kyphosis is further divided into two types:

Primary Structural Kyphosis: This type of kyphosis isn't caused by another condition.

One type of primary structural kyphosis is congenital kyphosis. That means that you're born with defects in the spine that cause it to curve too much. Often, heart and kidney problems are associated with congenital kyphosis because the spine, heart, and kidneys develop around the same time (third to sixth week of pregnancy).

The best example of primary structural kyphosis is Scheuermann's kyphosis, also known as Scheuermann's disease or juvenile kyphosis. It affects adolescents, and it develops when the front of the vertebrae don't grow as quickly as the back of the vertebrae. Instead of being rectangular, they become wedge shaped, and the spine starts to curve too much.

Doctors diagnose Scheuermann's kyphosis based on the following criteria: [/b]the kyphotic curve is greater than 50º, at least three adjacent vertebrae are wedged by at least 5º per vertebra, and there are small disc herniations called Schmorl's nodes.

[b]Secondary Structural Kyphosis: This type of kyphosis is caused by another condition. For example, osteoporosis in the spine may weaken to the vertebrae to the point of fracturing. The spine can then curve outward too much because it has structural problems. Osteoporosis is the primary condition; kyphosis is the secondary condition caused by the primary condition.

Symptoms

In addition to an abnormally curved spine, kyphosis can also cause back pain and stiffness in some people. Mild cases of kyphosis may produce no noticeable signs or symptoms.

When to see a doctor
Make an appointment with your doctor if you notice an increased curve in your upper back or in your child's spine.

Common Causes of Kyphosis
Kyphosis can affect people of any age. However, it rarely occurs in newborns because it is usually caused by poor posture. Kyphosis caused by poor posture is called postural kyphosis.

Other potential causes of kyphosis include:

*aging (especially if you have poor posture)
*muscle weakness in the upper back
*Scheuermann’s disease (occurs in children and has no known cause)
*arthritis or other bone degeneration diseases
*osteoporosis (loss of bone strength due to age)
*injury to the spine
*slipped discs
*scoliosis (spinal curvature)

Less commonly, the following may also lead to kyphosis:

*infection in the spine
*birth defects, such as spina bifida tumors
*diseases of the endocrine system
*diseases of the connective tissues
*polio
*Paget’s disease
*muscular dystrophy

A pastor has authored a book which says it’s okay for singles to indulge in sex before marriage, Christian or not.

Having sex outside marriage even though accepted by society, is frowned upon by christians. An author, Bromleigh McCleneghan, has attempted to explain why it may be okay to actually indulge in ‘guilt-free’ sex even as a single christian who doesn’t conform to the world (okay na).
