abujaniv:Dear VO Thank you for your response. However, I don't have any legal document other than his birth certificate and my brother's death certificate. Will these two suffice or would I have to go to a court to swear an affidavit? Please kindly advice on what is acceptable for your purpose. |
Dear VO, I planned to apply for a US B1/B2 visa for my family's holiday. I have the son of my elder brother aged 13 years and in a secondary school staying with me and I want to include him in the application. What document will I need to show that I am his guardian and that I am responsible for his schooling and upkeep? Please note that his mum is late. Thank you for your anticipated response. |
I don't believe this story. Even in 1984 when Nigeria won the competition for the first time, they were promised houses and street naming in their respective states. Unfortunately not all the state complied with the order before the government of GMB was overthrown. I know some of them like Fatai Atere (Fatai Atere street in Matori, Lagos) got the house and street naming. But most of the states never fulfilled the promise. With the same GMB as the president now, I don't see why they will be paid ONLY N20k. We need investigative journalism in Nigeria not just all these junks that populate our media houses. |
Fhemmmy:Once again, thanks for your prompt response. I actually requested for 2007 model as a means of lowering the cost. I don't have anything against 2008 other than the price. My budget is actually N3m. However, I can mop up additional N200k making it N3.2m max. I don't know if this could fly with this particular car but what other option (s) do you have that can suit my budget? Kindly let me know. Regards bro! |
Fhemmmy:As stated, that's way too high for a 2007 ride. Please lets leave out the colour and let me see what options are available. |
Tman007:Hello Fhemmy. Please how much can get me a Lexus RX350, 2007 model. It should have reverse camera, clean title, blue or grey colour and reasonable mileage. I want the landing cost and clearing. Hoping to hearing from you soon. Regards! |
Fhemmmy:Thank you very much for your prompt response. But does it mean the RX330 does not have electric heating and air conditioning system? |
Fhemmmy:Please what's the major difference(s) between Lexus RX330 and RX350 of the same year model? In terms of body shape (if any diff), accessories and performance. I am in the process of deciding what to buy and need clarification that would aid my decisions. Thanks |
all4naija:How are sure its not the replica watch she wore? One thing for sure is NOBODY can determine whether its original or replica. So lets give her the benefit of doubt. |
Here is the wrist watch and it cost nothing much.

@Siena, How are you doing? I am a Nigerian and one of the astute follower of your posts. I am presently in London on vacation and would like to see you. I saw a very lovely car at a good price I would like to buy here in London and would need your take on it as per the conversion. In fact, I wouldn't mind if you can do the conversion here before sending it to Nigeria. Please kindly send your contact phone number to my email address sojay5@yahoo.com. Thanks for your anticipated quick response. |
Dear Nairalander property masters, Please I need a 3 or 4 bedroom flat for sale around Gbagada, Anthony, Surulere, Yaba/Adekunle or Maryland areas of Lagos. I want it preferably in an existing estate and should be a modern building. Please kindly send details to me via mail at sojay5@yahoo.com. Thanks |
Eazee-e:Oh! This is my mistake, I mean NHF. |
Eazee-e:It's obvious that ur ignorance to no bound. I really wish to know where u work because ur claim of working in a "Tax Office" does not correspond with what u wrote here. Anyway, like I said earlier, it all depends on what u do in ur office. After all there are clerks and office assistants in all offices. U are probably one of those "Oldies" abound in government agencies that are NOT in tune with current happenings but think they know everything. So all u do when u see fraudulent practice is to advice d organisation? It doesn't feature in ur report? U simply don't know what u are doing. If u think I am a new graduate, no problem but from ur state of ignorance, u probably learnt nothing since u left school. I told u what operate in my organisation and u claimed I don't know how things operate in Nigeria. My organisation is in Nigeria and we do what the law stipulates. Sorry I never said d Act is perfect but better than what was in practice before its enactment. I'm sure u are NOT aware that the Act is undergoing amendments at d National Assembly. Any good Law will continue to be amended as the need arises to suit the realities on ground. |
Eazee-e: Eazee-e:From your first comment on this topic, it shows you know next to nothing on the operation of the Pension Act. Where you work may not matter but what you do. As a person that claims to work in "tax office", what were you expected to do when you see willful default of an organization on an existing Law? I want to presume you know the concept of “willful default” and the penalties. Have you ever written any report on those willful defaults? The fact that "most" organizations don't remit on time does not says the Law is not a good one. Some people will always default, then it become the responsibility of somebody like you since you work in a tax office to write the defaulting organizations and probably report to PENCOM to ensure complaint. Unfortunately, some organization will use its employee to cheat on the employees and nobody will raise any issue. It is the responsibility of the employees of such organizations to write a anonymous letter to PENCOM to intervene and penalize the defaulting organization but people will keep quiet while an employer is toying with their future. The PENCOM cannot come and seat in your office to monitor when you remit except when a formal complaint is made about default. I agreed NO Law is perfect but there can always be improvement. In fact as we write a Bill, the Pension Reform Bill 2013, to repeal the Pension Reform Act 2004 and enact the Pension Reform Act 2013 is undergoing legislative processes at the National Assembly. Sorry if you think I live in a “fantasy” world but this is exactly what is applicable where I work. In fact a colleague received a memo (query) for delaying NHIS remittance. So it’s NO fantasy friend but reality. |
Eazee-e:Bros, the best way to live is to learn and seek knowledge always. "A man starts dying the very day he stopped learning". The issue of Maina and the fraud perpetrated was based on the old system under which the Civil Servants’ pension entitlements was kept by the government. Though the Maina saga was just discovered now but the fraud has being going on a very long time ago. However, the Pencom Act was enacted during the OBJ's tenure in 2004. I maintained, this is one of the best policy any Nigerian government has ever made. The Act effectively "privatised" the pension system so that it is in the hands of respectable companies (mostly banks and/or their subsidiaries). With the Pencom Act, it is difficult for anybody to defraud you of your pension fund. With your comment above, I guess you are NOT working in a structured corporate environment. If you do, you would have had dealings with your PFA to know the status of your pension account. Please read about the PENSION ACT. It is available on the internet but the problem is most Nigerians will NEVER read and they act in absolute ignorance. As stated earlier, it is the responsibility of the employer to deduct the pension from your salary (usually 7.5% of your basic, housing and transport to be contributed by the employee and same by the employer. Though some employers contribute more than 7.5% but that is the minimum) and remit to your PFA NOT LATER THAN 7 days after payment of salaries. It is your responsility to check your payroll to see how much was deducted and check your online PFA account or monthly statement to be sure that the amount remitted is at least X2 of what was deducted from your salary. |
Chocboyslim: ASUU u have really done well with this new idea.....PENCOM is one of the most corrupt organization in nigeria* Take a look @ what happen to retired officeers of NPF(Nigeria Police Force) in nigeria, do u no dat PENCOM will withheld your 60 % of ur gratuity & pay u 40% to start up with ur life after serving Nigeria in 35years with ur life & sacrifice? Tell me, hw will diz officiers survive with diz little token givn 2 dem as gratuity? Sum of dem has families to takecare of, also problems to attend 2 since dey have retired* My very own uncle who retired as a senior supritendent of police is now beggin for food 2 feed his family in d villiage, where as his remaining gratuity is restn in d hand of PENCOM for no reason* The worse of it, they will pay u ur pension through dat ur gratuity u left behind, what a wicked country? PENCOM should go & stop eatn off civil servants hard earn*The level of lack of knowledge on the Nairaland forum is so apparent in some people's comment. It is always good speak on what you know rather than just jump into conclusion blindly. I think it is always good to educate ourselves where and when necessary. For your information, PENCON don't keep anybody's money. PENCOM (Pension Commission) is just a regulatory body created to license and regulate the activities of Pension funds administrators (PFAs) and Pension fund custodians (PFCs). As an individual, you have the right to choose your PFA (there are 24 licensed PFAs and 5 licensed PFCs and these are respectable private companies such as Stabic IBTC, Pension Alliance, AIICO, ARM, Citi-Trust, Crusader-sterling, Fidelity, IGI, Leadway, Legacy, Sigma etc. The five PFCs are Diamond PFC, First PFC, Oceanic PFC, UBA PFC and Zenith PFC). While the PFAs manage your funds (invest and account), the actual custody of your pension funds are domiciled with the PFCs which are all banks. It is your right to choose your PFA and demand services from them just like banks. The roles of Pencom is similar to that of CBN which license and regulate banks, NSE which license and regulate Stockbrokers, NAICOM which license and regulate insurance companies, NCC which license and regulate telecoms. As an individual, you can change your PFA if you are not satisfy with their service. You can demand monthly statement from them or better still require an online logging details that would give access to your pension fund account online real-time. Just like other regulators, you can report irregularity or fraudulent acts of your PFA to Pencom for appropriate sanction(s). As for ASUU, the only thing they can do under the PENCOM ACT 2004 is to apply to PENCOM to register as a Closed-PFA (such as we have Chevron Closed PFA) and will be able to manage their members' fund but they will still be regulated by the Pencom so there is nothing like pulling out of the scheme under the LAW unless amended. Or is it possible for ASUU to float their own bank without CBN approval? Sure it is NOT possible, therefore ASUU should apply if they want but they cannot pull out of the scheme. |
kalunomics: Maybe it's a rare incident to occur in SW that you people are incessantly referencing it per second in every tribal post.It is NOT a rare occurrence. Appointing somebody as a press secretary is not a big deal, but we are talking about appoint an Igboman for commissioner of FINANCE. Not only that, we have Igboman as Local govt chairman, as councilors, Hausaman as councilor and even an Igboman contested for the post of the governor. Tell me ANY other state of the federation where you can get that. |
kulyie: its lagos, ibadan, portharcourt.osun was once accomodating but with a muslim fanatic as governour@kulyie or what did you call yourself? How has the governor become a Muslim fanatic? I am very sure you do not know Aregbesola a bit. The same governor that have a Christian deputy? The governor that celebrate Christmas in the open with different churches and streets jams and bonfire (this has NEVER happen in the history of Osun state). The governor that always provide FREE transport for ALL during ALL festivals (including Easters, Xmas, even Osun river festivals). No governor has EVER done this in the history of Osun state yet a dumb fellow will sit on Nairaland and tag him a Muslim fanatic. Why can’t you guys see beyond ethnic and religion in your analysis of things? |
The best maintainance tips for any car is to read your user manual. Every information you need about your car is contained in the manual. If you do not the manual, then look for someone who has or you check to download it on the internet. |
@md autotec. Waoh! This is thousands worth analysis and advice. However, I have more questions about the compressor. Please can I get original brand new compressor and may be condenser in Lagos? Do you have a workshop or know any good workshop that can help with all of this in Lagos? Because I am not sure my technician has enough knowledge of the system this much. If he does, he should have taken all these prerequisite steps and measures to ensure the AC is fixed once and for all. Please if you know of any, kindly send the contact here. Thanks once again while I expect your response. |
@md autotec and others, Thanks for your valuable responses. The technician told me that the compressor that come with the car is an automatic and that it has a very high tendencies for failure. Therefore he advised that I buy a manual fairly used compressor saying most of the brand new compressors are fake and therefore, he cannot guarantee it will not fail again within the next 3 to 6 months. Based on his advice and advice I read on a similar topic on Nairaland, I reluctantly agreed to buy the fairly used manual compressor and he billed me 65k for the repairs. Now, I am at a cross road and seriously need help and advice on the way out of this issue. |
Make: Toyota. Model: Corolla Model year: 2008. Engine size: 1.8litre. Engine configuration: 4-cyl. in-line Twin Cam 16-valve with Dual VVt-i. Power: Torque: Fuel type: Petrol. Induction: Transmission: Automatic. Drive configuration: |
Dear Nairalander, I had an issue with my Toyota Corolla 2008 saloon car's air conditioning system and the AC repairer suggested I have to change the compressor, so which I obliged and pay him to buy a new compressor but alas, the compressor was burnt two days later after installation. Only God saved my car from been burnt. I returned the car back to the workshop and another compressor was installed. At this time, the fan was checked to be in order, the condenser was changed (to another condenser that has a fan attached to it) and everything seems ok. However, two weeks later, the unexpected happened again. The compressor was burnt again and I became very confused. Please what should I do? Did anybody here have such experience before and how was the problem resolved? The gurus in the house, please help your brother to overcome this problem. Thanks in anticipation of your responses. |

dabrake: Let's imagine the road is in a deplorable state, can't fashola repair it himself? He should learn from akpabio who rehabilitated most federal government oriented projects like roads, the university because 'it is a federal road but the majority of people affected are the akwa ibom indigenes. The university is a federal Government institution but 80% of her students are from akwa ibom. . .'In your weak analysis, you said Lagos is the richest state and with smallest land mass. But you failed to include the fact that the population of Lagos is more than the combined population of the three states of mentioned in your post (i.e. Akwa Ibom, Rivers and Edo) and the first two states earned more monthly allocation than Lagos. Therefore, pressures on amenities in Lagos is so much compare to any state of the federation. As a result of over-population, the number of civil servants in Lagos is more than those states combined, yet you still want LASG to continue carrying the burden of the Federal govt on ports that fetches the FG trillions of Naira annually? Haba! Why can’t people like be reasonable for once and say things as it is? Let every arms of the government do their job without expecting other to do it for them. Please STOP being GEJ blinded. |
Onaolamipo: Ignorant of arabic lang. May b u dont know d meaning of 'Allah'. Allah is an arabic word which means God.(the creator of heaven and earth )Thank you @ Onaolamipo, It beat my imagination when some people claimed to believe in GOD and went ahead to write unprintable things about ALLAH (GOD). ALLAH is just the Arabic word for GOD just like different languages has different word for GOD. The language doesn't change the meaning of GOD. ALLAH simply means GOD in Arabic language and that is why you will see Christians in the Arab world prays using the word Allah. Even in the Northern parts of Nigeria, you will see the Christians prays in churches and use the word Allah to mean God. God knows better |
No one but SIENA. The guy is too much. In fact I wish to meet him when next I travelled to the UK. |
@Siena and others, Please I am still expecting your response. Please don't be tired of the help you are rending on this platform. May God help u too. Regards! |
@Siena, Like I said earlier, the car has only ONE fan which covers the entire system, so no separate fan for the condenser. Please what do I do next? |
Siena: When the aircon is switched on, engines are under more load. I'd be looking at your condenser fan. Does it come on, when you turn on your air conditioner?I have checked d fan this morning. The car has only one fan that covers the engine, the radiator and the condenser. When I started the car, the fan did not start but as soon as I put on the AC, the fan started blowing. But I don't know what u mean by "condenser fan". Is it different from the general fan?. Once again, thank you for your responses. |
