Siena: Please, when you say your engine's overheating, it would help if you give an indication as to there your temperature gauge sits.I mean it goes way above the mid-level and going as high as reaching the RED zone at which point I had to off the AC, then it will gradually come down to the mid-level again. And I have flushed the radiator and d condenser, bled the raditor, pour only coolant (ready mixed by manufacturer), my mechanic said the water pump is ok, he said the thermostat is ok too. So I don't know what else to check or do. And the car has only covered about 32,500km. Thanks for ur anticipated response. |
@Siena and other pros in d group, Thank you guys for doing a very wonderful job on this group. Please I use a Toyota Corolla 2008 model, 1.8ltr engine, auto drive. Presently I used the green coloured coolant only (ready mixed by manufactural) but my car does overheating whenever I am in slow moving traffic and the AC is on. (Nothing happen when d AC is off as well as when in a free flowing traffic). I have read through recommendations on this group and I have done everything but d issue still persist. My question is could the coolant type be reponsible for a car to overheat? Please advise. Thanks! |
@macIB Thanks for your response but I needed more clarifications, why did you think manual compressor is better than the automatic? And when u said thermostat, which thermostat are u refering to? Is it the same as the engine thermostat? Moreso, could this be responsible for the car doing overheating? Like I said, the coolant gauge sometimes raises to the red zone (at which point I simply put off the AC and sometimes the engine too to allow it cool). Every factory fitted accesories are still in place and I ensure my mechanic do not temper with anything in the car. Please help. |
Thank you all for your responses. @cretin, I will check that when I get back to the car park later in the evening. |
Hello Nairalander, I your help on how to solve the problem associated with my car's air conditioning problem. The car details is as bellow Make/model: Toyota Corolla Year: 2008 Transmission: Automatic Odometer: less than 32,000 The problem is that the car AC would normally cool and stopped on its own and start blowing only fan. It will pick up again after some times and this has been on for some time now. The problem is particularly worst in slow moving traffic, to the point that I have to put it off and wind down the glasses. Another dimension to the problem is that it causes the car to do over-heating as much as the coolant gauge reaching the red zone. I took it to a AC repairer who initially said it was the sensor in the compressor and advised that I changed the sensor. I took to his advice and he changed the sensor but the problem persist. Now he had advice that I change the compressor completely and that I should use Toyota Highlander's compressor instead. He claimed that the Highlander compressor is better. But my fear is will this have an effect on the performance of my car. Please kindly advise me. Thanks |
@ikeyman00, thanks so much for your response. First I never underestimated anybody on this group, I only mentioned thier names because we have being exchanging messages ealier. Back to your message, I do not understand your point No 5 "how would we know that old man inside the engine still got some teeth". Please kindly throw more light as I planned to seat with my mechanic this weekend to check everything as advised. Thanks once again and God bless. |
cretin: you might have air in the system...also confirm if you are using coolant or ordinary water in ur radiatorThe radiator has a mixture of water and coolant. However, I am not sure of the percentage mixed. Sincerely speaking, I need you guys to help me because I am just worried about the causes and the solution to this problem @Ikenna/Siena, still expecting the hear from you. |
Make: Toyota Model: Corolla Year: 2008 Engine size: 1.8ltr Engine output (if known): Transmission type: 4 speed automatic Drive configuration: Aircon: yes Aircon on: Coolant temperature stationary: Midway Coolant temperature in dense traffic: Rises above the midway particularly in the afternoon under hot temperature Coolant temperature at highway speeds: Rises above the midway particularly in the afternoon and reaches the red indicator. Always have to turn the AC off. Aircon off: Coolant temperature stationary: Midway Coolant temperature in dense traffic: Midway Coolant temperature at highway speeds: Rises above the midway (Not sure of the degree celsius) Coolant/water mix: Mixed but not sure of the percentage mix. |
^^^ Thank you for your response. The condition under which the car overheated is not specific. However, based on my observations, the temperature gauge raises above the mid-level and reach the uppermost level (and blinking). Sometimes it happens at high speed (say at 140kph) and come down to mid-level immediately once I reduce the speed to like 100/80kph. Sometimes it rises when the AC is on and come down immediately once I put off the AC. At another time it will rise up in traffic either the AC is on or not. And sometimes, it may just stay in the middle level bearing all the conditions mentioned above. So I am a bit confused. For example, I drove more than 2 hours yesterday with AC on and the temperature gauge stays in the mid-level throughout. But I also observed that it happens more often when the AC in on high and during the day when the day is sunny (when the weather is hot). Kindly help. Thanks. |
@Ikenna and Siena, thanks for your very educative analysis. Please I need your help on how to fix the overheating problems of my car. I drive a Toyota Corolla 2008 model and the mileage is just about 32,000 but surprisingly I started having overheating problems especially when the AC is ON and in whenever I am in traffic. I took it to the mechanics and expectedly they advised that I reconnect the fan to run directly and remove the thermostat but having read through your advice, I refused and the mechanic said there is no other ways around it (I believed based on his own capacity). I have recently flushed the radiator too but all to no avail. Please did you guys know anybody who can help me fix the problem? I stay in Lagos. I will really appreciate if you can recommend a competent person that can help me out. My email address is sojay5@yahoo.com. Kind regards, |
Clemzy16: Propangada! Propangada! Propangada! All na wash! Policies like this cannot even work in other developed countries, not to talk of Nigeria. Noise polution ko! Noise polution ni! Mcheew..Oga, which country have you ever been to all your life? And here you are ignorantly saying "Policies like this cannot even work in other developed countries". If you don’t know something, you better ask questions. Even go to Benin Republic over there and you will not hear noise from all these useless laud speakers. What is not good is NOT good, so let everybody obey the law. Surprisingly, neither the Bible nor the Quran support this noise making yet our "religious leaders" do it with impunity because they know we are too lazy to read & understands the holy books and too gullible to challenge them and call them to order. |
jos2: @elewedu i tink i knw islam more & better dan u do. Juz 1 question can u seperate evil frm devil? Muh'd in his day do wost dan dis. & 4 ur information our prayer is more powerful dan u tink, u're doom, u will face same faith lik u masters muh'd & satanWhat exactly did u know about Islam and Prophet Mohammed (SAW)? Can u just point to details of your accusation and evidence to that effect? It is people like u that causes religious problems in this country. U are nothing than a religious bigot. Most of you said all sort of things about Islam but has been unable to quote any reference to support all your hate messages. Anyway, I pray may u truely understand what u are doing and repent from your evil ways. God bless u! |
@mhsanni Thanks so much for your response. May Almighty Allah reward accordingly. Many people that claim to belief in GOD, go all out to abuse ALLAH not knowing that Allah is an Arabic word meaning God. So please lets take note. |
Biafra4tharmy: boko killing christians again ohSome people just seat in the comfort of their offices/rooms and spew ignorance and unsubstantiated claims on social networks like NL. Boko Haram is a menace that must be condemed by all and sundry irrespective of tribe, religion and political affliation. I stays in Kano and I know that the area that was attacked is a predominantly muslim settlement, so it is NOT right to come here without any iota of truth or knowledge to claim "boko killing christains again". Your statement will further cause more divisions among Nigerians and that will be a success for bh. Since d insurgency, bh has killed more muslims than christains because most of the areas attacked have more muslims and bombs being thrown around does not differentiate anybody. Therefore let everybody see bh as a common enemy and pray to God Almighty to expose them and their sponsors rather than allowing them to cause religion and ethnic divisions amongst Nigerians. |
s3nn2x: The Federal Civil Service Commission is truly recruiting. The Ministry of foreign affair was supposed to have ended on monday, I was in Ibadan on monday and I succeeded in collecting the form by 6 PM after waiting for a very long time. The form can be collected in some zones, for the South West is at Ibadan, it is not only South Westerners that can collect it from there, other Nigerians residing in the south west can do some, all you need do is to get a letter of residence from your LGA of residence before you submit, and your original credential is very important xpecailly UNIVERSITY rESULT AND NYSC CERTIFICATE. Ministry of Labour and Productivity with Ministry of Education is also employing, in the same place, but the closing date for submission is on the 20 something of July while submission for MFA is on the 15th of June. The requirements for Labour is just HUMANITIES, while Education are education courses, or other couses with a PGDE. The CSC is really serious about the requirements, u cannot get the forms from touts.I heard one is to pay the sum of N6,200 in certified bank draft to get the form. Please how true is this claim? And kindly confirm also, what did one need to present before getting the form. Thanks |
Arosa: You know i live in the Uk right? I am only drawing attention to your perfect safety regulations put in place for you peeps. have fun in your perfect rail station. What is the big deal if you live in the UK? Is that the reason why you are wishing your fellow human being death? Are there no accidents and all other sorts of crime in the UK too? Brother get a life and stop behaving as though you live in heaven. |
Logic Mind: intolerance and hatred personified. What an illogic mind have u? What has religion got to do with this false news? I think it is better to confirm any news before reacting to it. This news is just another rumour and here people are already fighting religion and tribe. How will Nigeria ever progress when all we think about is religion and ethnicity? We claimed to be religious, yet we are worst in crimes. Bunch of hypocrites! U guys should get a life and contribute meaningfully to move Nigeria forward. |
ballabriggs: Another Government propaganda! 378 Docs for 16 million Lagosians- with a high population growth rate. Any government that does not value the health of its nation is a failed government- that is what development is all about. The Docs have only asked for the basics to keep them going. They're not asking to be paid what their counterparts earn earn in Europe- that would be unreasonable. It's a very myopic decision on the part of the government. You would even spend more at the end of the day as the health condition worsens. But do they care, they come to the UK for NHS treatment where the Doctors are better remunerated leaving our own Docs to rot. I don't wanna see Docs taking bribes in Hospitals to alter health reports, it means something is wrong with their remuneration. It is a shame on Nigeria. How do you develop with hungry Doctors? Any development plan without taking this into consideration is a failed plan. Please remember that this is an on-going process as interviews are still been conducted for hundreds who have applied for the jobs. Just wait and see, the next few weeks many more doctors will resume. I tell u, 90% of doctors in the private hospitals will jump at this offer. Let the sacked doctors go and experience the "first-class" working condition of thier counterparts in the private hospitals. Moreover, most of the senior consultants did not join the strike, so they will support the news ones with thier experience. No employee is bigger than his employer. |
CHESSBOARD: There is nothing nonsensical here, Which tribe in Nigeria are ready to blow himself and ppl apart from Almajiris and Yoruba Muslim as the case here.Dashboard or what did u called yourself. What has happened to your common sense? Because I xpected an averagely sensible person to able to read and reason rather than thinking upside down like u did. What has Muslim got to do with this story? First, the story is false. Second, not every Ismail is a Muslim just like not every Michael is a xtain. Refer to the post by Sanda and see truly that the story is mere rumour. The guy is a mere miscrant trying to escape arrest. Until people like you stop this tribal/religious bigotry, this country will never move forward. Whenever there is a problem, let people look at it holistically, devoid of any sentiment. |
abey2: .........and you don't think he should be praised for initiating this revealiing probes? Pessimism in your blood.before anythng shout GEJ! Get a life. With the kind of mindset been shared on this group, I doubt if Nigeria will EVER get out of its deadlock democrazy. Is it GEJ that initiate the probe? Guys get facts and get life! The probe is an aftermath of the January protest and NOT initiated by GEJ. |
