A yet to be identified officer of the Nigeria Police Force has been caught on camera making derogatory remarks against the Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, presidential candidate, Peter Obi.

In a video clip currently making the rounds on social media, the officer could be heard saying that the former governor of Anambra State cannot become Nigeria’s President because of his Igbo identity.

The officer further made comments about Obi’s age and suggested that even if he won an election, he would not be able to serve a full term.

According to the officer, the 2027 presidential race is between President Bola Tinubu and the candidate of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, Atiku Abubakar. He suggested that Obi should be kicked out of the race.

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has declared that he will not support Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma for the position of Senate President.

Wike made the declaration on Monday during an appearance on TVC’s Journalists’ Hangout, amid an escalating political disagreement between him and the Imo governor over political arrangements ahead of the 2027 elections.

The FCT minister accused Uzodimma, who chairs the Progressive Governors Forum (PGF), of using his influence among governors to shape the emergence of senators and members of the House of Representatives in pursuit of a reported Senate presidency ambition.

According to Wike, Uzodimma’s second term as Imo governor is expected to end in January 2028, after which he could seek election to the Senate.

“He wants to run for Senate President, and what he does is to say to his colleagues, let us be the ones, governors, to produce the senators and members of the House of Representatives,” Wike said.

He alleged that some governors supporting the arrangement might not be aware of what he described as Uzodimma’s personal political agenda.

Wike also claimed that some politicians who were denied tickets by the All Progressives Congress (APC) had moved to alternative platforms to contest the 2027 elections.

The Governor of Anambra State, Charles Soludo, has accused former Governor of the state, Peter Obi, of doing nothing for the benefit of Igbos since his foray into politics.

He accused Obi of only playing with the emotions of Igbos anytime elections are around the corner.

Soludo, who spoke during a public event in the Igbo language, however, said 2027 is an opportunity for the Igbos to vote right, and they won’t miss it.

According to him, it is time for the Igbos to partake in the struggle and take their share.

“Ask him, since he has been in politics, what has he brought for the Igbos? Look at the bad state and erosion in Ekwusigo for a long time. Since he started politics, what has he done about it? Then, when it’s time for election, you come and start playing with our emotions and still want us to waste our votes on you and remain where we are. It won’t happen again. We have said NO, we have refused. 2027 will be different.

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Barr. Nyesom Wike, has reaffirmed his support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election in 2027, insisting that the Rainbow Coalition is aimed at mobilising support for the President and not at weakening the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Wike, spoke on Monday after inspecting the ongoing ISEX 2 project, the Southern Parkway project and the road linking Nile University to Ring Road 3 in Lugbe, Abuja, said his major political concern ahead of the 2027 election was to ensure Tinubu secured a second term, stressing that he had made his position clear from the outset.

“My concern is that the President will be re-elected for the second term. That is my concern. And I made that known from the onset that I was going to support Mr President with all my might and strength,” he said.

The minister’s position comes amid disagreement between supporters of the Rainbow Coalition and APC governors over the structure and purpose of the political platform.

Veteran Nollywood actor and film executive, Oludotun Baiyewu Jacobs, popularly known as Olu Jacobs, has died at 84, his family announced.

Olu Jacobs’ son, Olusoji Jacobs, announced the death on Instagram on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, calling him “The Lion of Lufodo” and seeking privacy.

Born July 11, 1942 in Abeokuta, Ogun State, Jacobs trained at RADA London, acted in over 100 films, and is survived by wife, Joke Silva, and two sons.

The family announced his death with a tribute describing him as “The Lion of Lufodo” and appealed to bloggers and social media influencers to respect their privacy during the mourning period.

“It is with gratitude to God for a life well lived and fought, that we announce the passing of our dear husband, father, grandfather and uncle. The Lion of Lufodo. Oludotun Baiyewun Jacobs (MFR) 11/07/ 1942- 16/09/2026. We call on all bloggers and social media influencers to respect our families privacy at this time”, Olusoji wrote.

The Progressive Governors Forum has ruled out supporting or endorsing any political coalition or candidate outside the All Progressives Congress ahead of the 2027 elections, in an apparent reference to the Nyesom Wike-led Rainbow Coalition.

Chairman of the Forum and Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, announced the position late Monday after the governors meeting in Abuja.

The APC governors say they will not participate in any political arrangement capable of weakening President Tinubu's re-election and other APC governorship, National Assembly or State Assembly candidates fearing that it may undermine party candidates at any level.

Nigerian dancer Poco Lee has broken his silence following his release from detention in the United Kingdom, insisting that he did not commit the alleged offence and telling men to spend “18 hours” of their daily lives fearing women.

Poco Lee made the remarks during a video call with social media activist VeryDarkMan, VDM, while speaking about his experience and the support he received during the situation.

“I was being myself, God sees my heart, my only worries out there was my people,” he said.

He said he would have accepted the situation if he had actually committed the alleged offence, but maintained that he did nothing wrong.

​Lagos State House of Assembly member, Desmond Elliot, has apologised to the Chief of Staff to President Bola Tinubu, Femi Gbajabiamila, over his conduct during the last All Progressives Congress (APC) primary election in Lagos.

Elliot was seen in a video circulating on social media kneeling before Gbajabiamila and asking for forgiveness, while also appealing to be accepted back into the APC fold in Lagos.

“I’m sorry, I have no excuse. I have nothing other than to say I’m deeply sorry, and I am hoping to be cultured in the future,” Elliot said.

His apology followed a disagreement with the party leadership over the APC primary conducted in May to select its candidate for the Surulere Constituency I seat.

Major factions within the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) are pushing back against the National Rainbow Coalition championed by FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, warning that the arrangement could cost President Bola Tinubu critical votes in the 2027 presidential election.

Wike, who remains a registered member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has insisted the coalition exists solely to secure Tinubu's re-election.

Lere Olayinka, spokesman for the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike, has said the former Rivers State governor is aware that his political actions may attract retaliation from former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and the Nigeria Democratic Congress presidential candidate, Mr Peter Obi.

The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has recounted how hired thugs obstructed his visit to Benue State to commiserate with grieving families affected by the horrific killings in Yelwata, where over 270 people were massacred.

Peter Obi, in a statement via his 𝕏 on Tuesday, described the chants of the thugs, “Peter Obi, go back,” as deeply depressing, noting that his visit was not for political purposes.

There was tension in Benue State on Tuesday after suspected thugs allegedly blocked a major road as the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, Peter Obi, arrived in the state.

The incident was disclosed by Obi’s media aide, Esther Umoh, who shared a video on her X handle showing the blocked route.

According to Umoh, the incident occurred shortly after Obi and his entourage arrived in Benue State.

“We have just arrived in Benue State, where alleged sponsored thugs have blocked Boko Road by the Air Force Base, attempting to prevent Peter Obi from gaining access into the state,” she wrote.

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Ayekooto Akindele and Lere Olayinka, media aide to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, have reacted to the alleged endorsement of Seyi Makinde by Peter Obi, the Nigerian Democratic Congress, NDC, presidential candidate.

The former governor of Anambra State attended the inauguration of the presidential candidate of the Allied Peoples Movement, APM, Seyi Makinde, in Abuja on Monday.

In a video clip currently making the rounds, Peter Obi publicly declared that Makinde of the Allied Peoples Movement, APM, is qualified to be Nigeria’s President.

According to netizens, Obi’s comment signalled his approval for the Oyo State Governor to succeed President Bola Tinubu in 2027.

Reacting, Ayekooto, in a post he shared on his official Facebook page, predicted that the NDC candidate may step down for Makinde in the coming weeks.

Commenting on Obi’s remark, Ayekooto wrote, “Gbajue endorsed Seyi Makinde, may step down in the coming weeks.”

Some residents of Kano who took part in the campaign rally of the All Progressives Congress, APC, have protested the N3,000 payment they allegedly received from the party.

Pouring out their frustration, some of the residents, who spoke in the Hausa language, stated that the amount was too meagre to cover their transport expenses.

This development came against the backdrop of a political mobilisation by the APC in Kano, where the party inaugurated a support structure for the reelection of President Bola Tinubu in next year’s general election.

The newly sworn-in Chairman of Ohaukwu Local Government Area of Ebonyi State, Eze Paul Ituma, has warned opposition political parties and their supporters against interfering in political activities within the council area ahead of the 2027 elections.

Ituma issued the warning while speaking about political activities in Ohaukwu, saying anyone who attempts to operate against his interests in the area could be declared persona non grata.

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike, says he would be the first politician to suffer if President Bola Tinubu loses the 2027 general elections.

Speaking during a media parley on Wednesday, Wike said he would suffer the repercussions especially from Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi.

Ambassador-designate to Mexico, Reno Omokri, has dismissed claims of a criminal Federal Bureau of Investigation record against President Bola Tinubu, insisting that having an FBI record does not automatically mean a person has a criminal record.

Omokri made the clarification while addressing questions surrounding Tinubu’s records with the US Federal Bureau of Investigation, stressing that there is a distinction between an FBI record and a criminal record.

He further claimed that all the presidential candidates in the 2027 election have FBI records, describing a record simply as a record and arguing that it should not be interpreted as evidence of criminality.

APC supporters in Lagos have expressed frustration over an alleged payment of ₦1,500 after spending the day campaigning for President Bola Tinubu.

One supporter lamented that they had trekked and worked since morning, only to receive ₦1,500.

All the effort since morning, we were given N1,500. We sweated while trekking. I should have been in my house.”

Another person wearing a Tinubu jersey said they were initially promised ₦2,500, but ended up receiving only ₦1,500.

The presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) in the 2027 election, Peter Obi, has urged Nigerians to pray for politicians to stop stealing public funds, saying politicians remain the major problem confronting the country.

Obi made the remarks during Sunday’s worship service at Koinonia Global, where he was acknowledged by the founder of Eternity Network International, Apostle Joshua Selman.

Selman invited Obi, who was in the congregation, to share a few words with worshippers.

Surprised by the recognition, Obi said he was unsure of what to say but urged the congregation to pray for the country’s political leaders.

The former Anambra governor maintained that politicians were responsible for many of the challenges facing Nigeria, insisting that there was nothing fundamentally wrong with the country itself.

Ogogo died on Sunday, August 23, 2026, at the age of 66, was buried in Ilaro, his hometown, on August 24, in accordance with Islamic rites, a day after his death was announced.

Big Brother Naija star Natacha Akide, popularly known as Tacha, has been arrested by the Nigerian Police Force.

The arrest was confirmed by movie producer and Chief Executive Officer of Best of Nollywood (BON), Seun Oloketuyi, in a post on his Instagram page on Sunday.

According to the report, Tacha was picked up at her Ajah residence early Sunday morning after failing to honour three invitations from the police between May and August 2026.

The arrest is believed to be linked to a viral video in which she allegedly made false rape and trafficking allegations against an unidentified man, accusing him of trafficking young people to Europe under the guise of scholarships and labelling him a rapist and child molester.

President Bola Tinubu has left Nigeria for a three-week vacation in Europe as preparations intensify for the 2027 general elections.

The President departed Abuja on Sunday for the break, which his media aide, Sunday Dare, described as an opportunity to rest and regain strength ahead of an expected period of hectic political activities.
