The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on Tuesday moved to forfeit the Maitama, Abuja residence of former Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, SAN.

Led by Folarin Dare, heavily armed EFCC personnel were said to have arrived the property in at least five buses.

The reportedly barricaded the road leading to Malami’s residence.

Amid the leadership crisis rocking the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) Tajudeen Baruwa has assumed control of the union’s national secretariat in Abuja, dislodging Musiliu Akinsanya, popularly known as MC Oluomo.

Former presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), Omoyele Sowore, has said former Anambra State Governor, Peter Obi, and Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, are not opposition figures.

The death of the Imo State-born midfielder was announced on Saturday morning by former teammate and 1980 Africa Cup of Nations winner Segun Odegbami on his media platforms.

Broda Shaggy, a famous Nigerian content creator and influencer, has been reportedly hospitalised following the injury sustained from gunshot in Ogun State.

He was allegedly shot on Sunday while filming at the Sango Ota Bridge.

The convoy of Rotimi Amaechi, former minister of transportation, came under attack on Friday along the Ubima-Omuanwa road in Ikwerre LGA, Rivers state.

The former Rivers governor was on his way to formally register as a member of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) at his ward in Ubima when the incident occurred.

Gunmen reportedly attempted to ambush Amaechi’s convoy but were overpowered by security operatives attached to the former minister.

Former presidential aide, Reno Omokri, has accepted his ambassadorial posting as Nigeria’s ambassador to Mexico.

Nollywood actor, Yul Edochie, has publicly criticised Arise Television anchor, Rufai Oseni in a viral video circulating on social media.

Fresh details have emerged regarding the reported arrest and detention of Maryam Bukar, a woman alleged to have had a romantic relationship with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

The Africa Cup of Nations schedule was a decisive factor in why Manchester United did not pursue a move for Victor Osimhen, according to the club’s former first-team coach Benni McCarthy.

“I think he would have been very successful there. But it [Afcon] was a big stumbling block.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has dismissed allegations that he is behind recent defections from opposition parties to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), saying he neither coerced nor forced any politician to leave their party.

The President made the remarks on Wednesday night during an interfaith breaking of the fast with members of the Senate at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, where he responded to criticisms that his administration was weakening the opposition.

Tinubu said critics were entitled to their opinions but insisted he had not used force or abused his authority against any political group, stressing that those who defected did so voluntarily.

According to him, he could not be blamed for individuals who chose to leave their parties, likening such defections to people abandoning a sinking ship.

He said, “Critics must talk. When they accused me of killing the opposition, but I didn’t have a gun. I could have given myself a licence when I have the authority.

Arise Television Anchor and former presidential aide, Reuben Abati, has chided the people of Edo State over the inability of Governor Monday Okpebholo to pronounce the acronym, GCFR.

Speaking during Arise Television’s ‘Morning Show’ on Wednesday, Abati said the people of Edo State had the opportunity to choose a highly educated man but decided to choose Okpebholo.

He said Edo people should live with their choice.

He was reacting as Governor Okpebholo stumbled in pronouncing the ‘GCFR’ suffix added to President Bola Tinubu’s name.

“Like Yoruba people would say, it is finished. Edo people had the chance to choose a highly educated man who was very intelligent. They did not want him. But they chose Monday Okpebholo.

Former presidential candidate, Peter Obi, erstwhile National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, and some chieftains of the African Democratic Congress were on Tuesday allegedly attacked by suspected thugs in Edo State.

Obi’s former campaign spokesman and National Coordinator of the Obidient Movement Worldwide, Dr Yunusa Tanko, disclosed this in a statement issued in Abuja.

The statement read, “Peter Obi and the leadership of the ADC are under siege and attack in Benin, Edo State. At the formal declaration of Olumide Akpata into the African Democratic Congress, armed individuals followed us from the ADC Secretariat to the residence of Chief John Odigie-Oyegun.

“They shot at the gate and destroyed several vehicles in what appears to be a survived assassination attempt on our lives. Democracy is in danger.”

Former Manchester United striker, Odion Ighalo has expressed confidence that Ademola Lookman will thrive under manager Diego Simeone at Atlético Madrid.

Describing Simeone as an astute and tactical manager, Ighalo believes that Lookman’s transition to one of Spain’s premier clubs will significantly enhance his development as a player.

Since his recent move from Atalanta on a four-and-a-half-year contract, Lookman has made a strong impression, registering four goals and two assists in just six appearances for Atlético.
