The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, has boasted that President Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) will convincingly win the 2027 election for a second term in office.

Speaking on Thursday during the Politics Today programme on Channels Television, Keyamo expressed confidence that Nigerians will vote overwhelmingly for Tinubu and the APC.

The Minister said his prediction is based on pure demographic calculation.

He dismissed the likely threats of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate, Peter Obi, and his counterpart in the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Atiku Abubakar, to the expected victory of President Tinubu as inconsequential.

According to him, the APC has won the off-season governorship elections in 2026 and would repeat the feat in the 2027 general elections.

Popular Nigerian content creator Habeeb Hamzat, popularly known as Peller, was captured in a viral video expressing shock over the legal implications of his statutory marriage to his lover, Amadou Elizabeth Aminata, better known as Jarvis.

The duo legally tied the knot on Wednesday.

In a video making the rounds, the marriage registrar was heard explaining the legal implications of their vows to the couple.

The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has alleged that there is a coordinated plot to eliminate its detained leader, Nnamdi Kanu, following comments made by entrepreneur Chigozie Nnabugwu during a television programme.

The separatist group also threatened legal action against News Central Television and several individuals, including Reno Omokri, over what it described as defamatory statements against Kanu.

In a statement issued on Monday and signed by its spokesman, Emma Powerful, IPOB condemned remarks allegedly made by Nnabugwu during an appearance on News Central Television’s Breakfast Xtra programme.

According to the group, Nnabugwu called on the Federal Government to execute Kanu, arguing that such a move would restore peace in the South-East.

IPOB described the comments as “dangerous” and alleged that they formed part of a wider campaign against its leader and the Biafra agitation.

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has made a shocking revelation of how his vice, Atiku Abubakar, funded his impeachment plot with N5 million during his first term in office.

Atiku Abubakar, former Vice President of Nigeria and presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, has alleged the existence of a fresh N12.8 trillion hidden allocation in Nigeria’s 2026 budget under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration.

Atiku made this disclosure in a statement issued by his spokesperson, Phrank Shaibu, on Monday.

He claimed that the N12.8 trillion allocation was concealed under the Service-Wide Vote, SWV in the country’s 2026 budget.

Atiku described the 2026 Federal Budget as the most brazen assault on transparency and fiscal responsibility in Nigeria’s democratic history, following what he called shocking revelations surrounding the Service-Wide Vote allocation.

He explained that 84 per cent of the entire 2026 budget is concentrated in just 10 Ministries, Departments and Agencies, MDAs, with an astounding N12.8 trillion warehoused under the Service-Wide Vote in the Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning.

According to him, the revelation exposes what appears to be a deliberate architecture for opaque and unaccountable spending under President Tinubu’s administration.

Popular television host, Rufai Oseni, on Friday became emotional while lamenting the state of Nigeria’s economy.

During the Arise TV Morning Show, Rufai wondered how Nigeria became a chronic borrower.

Speaking on the programme, Oseni recalled a time when Nigeria was financially strong enough to lend money to international institutions, contrasting it with the current reality of the country’s economy.

Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has expressed concern over the challenges he claims to be facing ahead of the 2027 election.

Obi, who spoke in an interview with Chude Jideonwo, alleged that the current administration’s actions have made his daily activities difficult and affected his livelihood.

The politician said he faces constant difficulties and questioned whether he would still be available to participate in the next presidential race due to the pressure he believes he is experiencing.

The former Anambra governor claimed that several aspects of his work have been deliberately made difficult, adding that he recently had an issue involving his vehicle at an airport.

Isaac Fayose, younger brother to former Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, says the Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, needs to be investigated over allegations of bribery.

Arise Television’s anchor, Rufai Oseni, has alleged that the legal challenge against the registration of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, was orchestrated to weaken the opposition ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Speaking on The Morning Show on Arise Television on Monday, Oseni claimed the timing of the lawsuit challenging the party’s registration raised questions, noting that it was filed two days after Peter Obi joined the NDC.

According to him, Obi officially joined the party on May 3, while the suit seeking to nullify the NDC registration was instituted on May 5 by what he described as a “faceless group.”

The broadcaster said the development followed what he called a familiar pattern, alleging that similar legal actions had been taken against opposition parties in recent months.

A United Kingdom Court has cleared former Nigerian Minister of Petroleum Resources, Diezani Alison-Madueke, of bribery charges.

According to Reuters, a jury at Southwark Crown Court in London on Wednesday found Alison-Madueke not guilty of six counts bordering on bribery and conspiracy to commit bribery.

Recalls that Alison-Madueke served as Minister of Petroleum Resources between 2010 and 2015 under the administration of Goodluck Jonathan.
She was accused of accepting bribes from oil and gas industry figures seeking lucrative contracts in Nigeria.

According to prosecutors, she was provided with “a life of luxury” in London in exchange for influence over the award of contracts.

However, the ex-minister denied all the allegations and maintained throughout the trial that she never accepted bribes and had no direct influence over the award of government contracts.

The lawmaker representing Edo North Senatorial District, Adams Oshiomhole, has disclosed a shocking revelation on the suspension of Kogi Central Senator, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan.

In an interview on AIT on Monday, Oshiomhole said signatures of some lawmakers were forged to facilitate the suspension.

He further alleged that the names of three senators were included in the report even though they denied endorsing the recommendations.

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and Governor Ademola Adeleke may have suffered a major political setback ahead of the 2027 general election and the 2026 governorship election in Osun State, respectively, following a Federal High Court judgement ordering the deregistration of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and the Accord Party, alongside three other political parties.

Justice Peter Lifu of the Federal High Court in Abuja delivered the ruling on Monday in a suit filed by the National Forum of Former Legislators, marked FHC/ABJ/CS/2637/2026, directing the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to deregister the five parties for failing to meet constitutional performance thresholds.

The other political parties affected by the judgement were the Action Peoples Party (APP), Action Alliance (AA) and Zenith Labour Party (ZLP).

The plaintiff had asked the court to determine whether INEC was constitutionally obligated to deregister political parties that failed to satisfy the requirements set out in Section 225A of the 1999 Constitution (as amended).

Human rights activist and former presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, has reportedly been taken to hospital after he collapsed during a confrontation between police operatives and protesters at the Unity Fountain in Abuja.

The incident occurred on Friday during a Democracy Day protest against insecurity, economic hardship and what demonstrators described as poor governance.

According to Vanguard, witnesses said the protest, which attracted activists and civil society groups, was disrupted after security operatives deployed teargas canisters to disperse the gathering.

Eyewitnesses disclosed that chaos broke out as protesters scampered for safety amid clouds of teargas.

Sowore was reportedly affected by the fumes and later lost consciousness during the confusion.

Isaac Fayose has berated his older brother cum former Governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose, over claims that the Oyo State Government and Governor Seyi Makinde orchestrated the recent abduction of 46 pupils and teachers in Oyo State to blackmail President Bola Tinubu.

Social media critic, Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), has responded to a legal threat from the Presidency over a viral doctored video allegedly containing fake audio of President Bola Tinubu.

The Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, had accused VDM of spreading false content on social media.

Onanuga described the circulation of the audio as an abuse of social media and said VDM should face the law.

Reacting to the viral video, Onanuga wrote that the social media influencer should be held accountable for allegedly circulating fake audio attributed to the President.

Responding, VDM said he would not defend the allegations.

He said he was ready for any legal action and would even return earlier than planned to face the matter.

“I will not defend the allegations. If I respond, let God punish me. I want to face that law. I will even book a flight to come earlier than I planned. I want to see what you people can do,” he said.

The Presidency on Wednesday vowed to prosecute Nigerian social media critic, Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as Verydarkman, VDM, for allegedly sharing fake audio of President Bola Tinubu.

A post by an X user, @Pious_minister showed that an AI generated audio of the President was played in VDM’s video.

The audio captured Tinubu’s voice, saying that the insecurity in Nigeria would continue because Nigerians didn’t vote for him in 2023.

Reacting, Tinubu’s media aide, Bayo Onanuga in a post on his official X handle, said VDM would be made to face the full weight of the law.

He wrote, “This VDM needs to face the weight of the law for being the conveyor and disseminator of a fake audio of President Tinubu.

“This is a clear case of an egregious abuse of the social media platform”.

The Chief of Staff to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Femi Gbajabiamila, has narrated how he almost lost his job during the political crisis in Lagos State that led to the impeachment of the State Assembly Speaker, Mudashiru Obasa.

Gbajabiamila, a former Speaker of the House of Representatives, made this known during a political meeting.

He stated that Tinubu had accused him of backing Desmond Elliott, a lawmaker representing Surulere 1 Constituency in the Lagos State House of Assembly, during the removal of Obasa.

Recall that some members of the state assembly had impeached Obasa as Speaker but their decision was reversed by the President.

Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde on Thursday officially declared his intention to run in the 2027 presidential race.

He made the declaration at a mega rally held at the historic Mapo Hall in Ibadan, the state capital, where he unveiled grand alliance between the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the Allied Peoples Movement (APM).

Makinde announced his the alliance under what he called “Reset Nigeria Movement.”

He declared “Therefore, today, I Oluseyi Abiodun Makinde, FNSE, announce my candidacy for the position of the President of Federal Republic of Nigeria.”

He explained that the alliance was borne out of alleged plot to foist one party system on Nigeria.

Charles Omole, the author of From Soldier to Statesman: The Legacy of Muhammadu Buhari, has revealed that there are no fewer than five cabals allegedly influencing the administration of President Bola Tinubu.

In an interview on State Affairs, a podcast hosted by Edmund Obilo, the author listed the cabals as including the Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila’s group.

Omole said the second cabal is that of the president’s son, Seyi Tinubu, while the third cabal is headed by the First Lady, Remi Tinubu.
