Justice Obiora Egwuatu of the Federal High Court in Abuja, has ordered the governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodinma to immediately stop presenting himself as the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, for the Imo West Senatorial election slated for January 16, 2027.

Justice Egwuatu issued the order on Thursday after holding that Uzodinma did not win the May 18 primary election conducted by the APC and monitored by INEC.

The judge held that evidence presented before the court proved that former governor Rochas Okorocha actually won majority of the votes cast at the poll and should be published winner of the election.

Egwuatu subsequently ordered the APC to forward Okorocha's name to INEC as candidate of the APC in the 2027 general elections for Imo West Senatorial election.

Ovie Omo-Agege, a former deputy president of the senate, has warned that anyone who rigs the 2027 general election could be killed.

Omo-Agege, who is seeking election to the Delta central senatorial seat under the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), issued the threat at a political event in his constituency.

Omo-Agege’s threat comes about a week after President Bola Tinubu directed security agencies to ensure free, fair and credible elections in 2027.

“I want to make the news again. Anybody who rigs the election on that day, we will kill him! If you don’t value your life, come and rig the election,” he said.

Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Lagos; and Funso Doherty, gubernatorial candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) in the city; were among a group of residents and journalists teargassed by police at the Lekki tollgate on Tuesday morning.

The politicians had joined a wreath-laying memorial for victims of the October 2020 #EndSARS protest.

The procession was organised by the Enough is Enough (EiE) movement.

Everyone soon scampered for safety before the wreaths could be laid however, as police officers who had converged on the tollgate before the memorial could commence, immediately made it clear that the event would not be holding by dispersing the small crowd with teargas canisters.

There was tension at the Federal High Court in Abuja on Monday when a lawyer allegedly referred to African Action Congress presidential candidate Omoyele Sowore as a “tout.”

In a now-viral video making the rounds on social media, the activist could be seen confronting the said lawyer, identified as Yakubu, to withdraw his statement.

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike, and key stakeholders in the Rainbow Coalition on Sunday met at the private residence of Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, in Port Harcourt.

Social media activist, VeryDarkMan, has accused Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke of being a political ally of the All Progressives Congress, APC, following his reported decision to support President Bola Tinubu’s 2027 re-election bid.

Fresh details surrounding the death of Nigerian gospel singer, Olayemi Bayonile Bolaji, popularly known as Toluwanisings, have been shared by his personal assistant, Babadunni Gbolabo.

Toluwanisings died on Wednesday, October 14, 2026.

In a viral video online, Gbolabo said the singer suddenly slumped and was rushed to eight hospitals in Ibadan but was rejected.

Gbolabo said all efforts to secure medical attention proved abortive, stressing that the hospitals’ excuses included doctors being unavailable due to an ongoing strike.

According to the PA, the family had not yet concluded the necessary arrangements, noting that relatives would make further decisions after consultations.

President Bola Tinubu on Wednesday referred to himself as a governor while speaking at the inauguration of the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential campaign council for the 2027 election in Abuja.

Tinubu, who is seeking re-election for a second term, made the remark while acknowledging party leaders and members of the campaign council at the event held at the Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa.

“Distinguished leaders of our party, all the party members, presidential campaign council, I’ve seen my friend here that I must thank. And next will be the recognition of the director general of the presidential campaign council that we bring Governor Bola Tinubu back for second time,” he said.

The president appeared to mistakenly refer to himself as a governor rather than a president while speaking about his bid for another four-year term.

Unknown thugs have reportedly attacked the secretariat of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, in Ikpoba-Okha Local Government Area of Edo State.

The attack, which was reported on Wednesday, comes barely one week after NDC supporters were attacked in Enugu, resulting in the death of one person.

At the time of filing this report, no casualties had been reported in the Edo attack, but footage of the incident showed that properties at the secretariat were damaged.

It was gathered that the incident marks the latest in a series of violent disruptions targeting opposition political infrastructure across the state.

Adeleke attended the inauguration of the APC-PCC in Abuja.

Nigerian gospel singer, Toluwanisings is reportedly dead.

His death was announced by the Convener of the Coalition of Public Interests Lawyers and Advocates, COPA, Pelumi Olajengbesi on Wednesday.

Expressing concern over the death of young Nigerians, Olajengbesi, in a post on Instagram, pleaded for God’s mercy.

While noting that the death of Toluwanisings is not God’s plan, he wrote, “We say no to untimely death.”

There are unconfirmed reports online that the singer slumped and died a day after his ministration with Bidemi Oloba.

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, says he opposed the 2024 Edo governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Asue Ighodalo, because he wanted to prevent former governor Godwin Obaseki from installing his successor.

Wike disclosed this on Monday during a stakeholders’ meeting of the rainbow coalition in Abuja, where he credited an alliance between factions of the PDP and the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the ruling party’s victory in the election.

“In the last election that took place in Edo State, the victory was as a result of the coalition between the legacy of PDP and the APC,” he said.

“We had to work together to make sure that the former governor, Governor Obaseki, did not produce his successor. And that is the truth. I was behind it, and I don’t have any regrets about it. So when people say that nothing like coalition, they tell lies.”

According to Wike, Ighodalo, whom he described as a “good candidate”, visited his residence more than three times to seek his support, but he turned him down because of his opposition to Obaseki.

Social commentator Isaac Fayose has criticised the All Progressives Congress (APC), accusing the party of worsening poverty and damaging the image of the Yoruba people.

Families of the rescued 20 abducted National Youths Service Corps, NYSC, members have said that they paid millions of naira in ransom before learning of their release.

According to News Central Television, some relatives paid more than N3 million, while others reportedly paid up to N6 million.

Recall that security agencies, including the military, Department of State Services, DSS, police and other security formations rescued the corps members and another hostage in Imo State on Wednesday.

“I paid as much as N3 million as ransom while I was hoping that nothing happened to my child. I ran helter-skelter to raise the money. I eventually got the money and sent someone to Imo State to deliver the ransom,” a mother of one of the corps members told News Central Television.

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has criticised former Rivers State Governor Rotimi Amaechi for linking the death of his mother to President Bola Tinubu’s economic policies.

Wike said Amaechi should not have brought his late mother into political arguments, accusing the African Democratic Congress vice-presidential candidate of using her death to seek political sympathy.

He spoke on Saturday while addressing members of the Uzugbani Ekpeye National Executive Council at Ekpeye House in Ahoada, Ahoada East Local Government Area of Rivers State.

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Mr Nyesom Wike, has declared that he will step down from his cabinet position if President Bola Ahmed Tinubu fails to secure victory in both the FCT and Rivers State in the upcoming 2027 presidential election.

Former Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Babachir Lawal, has alleged that former Vice President Atiku Abubakar approached him with a proposal to convince Peter Obi to join the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as his running mate ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Lawal made the claims during an interview with JKD Media, where he also spoke critically about his past relationship with Atiku and his assessment of the former vice president’s political style.

According to Lawal, Atiku contacted him and asked him to persuade Obi to join the ADC as his vice-presidential candidate.

Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, has said he is supporting the Presidency of Bola Tinubu.

He noted that his support for the President is in his capacity as a governor and member of the National Economic Council.

Otti made the clarification in an exclusive interview aired on Arise Television on Friday, after he was asked whether his support for Tinubu amounted to a “comfortable arrangement” between him, a Labour Party governor, and the ruling All Progressives Congress.
