Victor Osimhen arrived in Italy with high expectations after sealing a multi-million euro move from Lille. But instead of a smooth rise, his first year was filled with injuries that slowed his momentum.

The moment that shook his career came the following season in a league match at the San Siro.

The Labour Party (LP) 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has broken silence on the life imprisonment handed to the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu.

Kanu was on Thursday sentenced to life imprisonment by the Federal High Court in Abuja after Justice James Omotosho found him guilty on all seven counts of terrorism and related offences.

While delivering judgment, Justice Omotosho ruled that Kanu must be kept in a “protected custodial centre” and declared the Kuje Correctional Centre unsuitable due to previous prison breaks and heightened security risks.

In a statement via his 𝕏 handle on Saturday, Peter Obi stated that Kanu‘s conviction is coming at a time when Nigeria is facing severe economic hardship, insecurity, and the consequences of poor governance.

The former Governors of Anambra state said he had always maintained that Nnamdi Kanu should never have been arrested, stressing that he consistently argued for dialogue, constructive engagement, and inclusive governance as the path to lasting peace.

The leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Mazi Nnamdi Kanu shed tears after Justice James Omotosho of the Federal High Court, Abuja, sentenced him to life imprisonment.

Justice had earlier convicted Kanu on all seven counts levelled against him by the Federal Government.

The judge sentenced Kanu to life imprisonment for count 1, 2, 4,5, and 6.

He also sentenced Kanu to 20 years for count 3 without option of fine.

The Judge sentenced Kanu to five years in prison on count seven without option of fine.

Justice Omotosho ruled that he should not be kept in Kuje prison. He forfeited Nnamdi Kanu’s radio transmitter to the government and barred him from access to social media.

The court had earlier found Kanu guilty on Counts One to Seven of the terrorism charges brought against him by the Federal Government.

There was tension at the national headquarters of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Abuja on Tuesday, as former Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom, was reportedly escorted out of the PDP National Executive Committee, NEC, Hall during a press briefing addressed by Governors Seyi Makinde of Oyo State and Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State.

Nigeria coach, Eric Chelle, has alleged that a DR Congo staff member engaged in “voodoo” during the penalty shootout of Sunday’s World Cup playoff in Rabat, where the Super Eagles were knocked out of the race for the 2026 tournament.

In a video posted by ESPN Africa on X on Monday, which showed Chelle speaking to journalists after the match, Chelle said he reacted out of frustration after witnessing repeated gestures from a member of DR Congo’s technical area during the video assistant referee review for a penalty incident.

The young Nigerian Navy officer, Lt. A.M. Yarima, who recently clashed with the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, was reportedly trailed by unidentified Men on Sunday evening.

Senator representing Delta North, Ned Nwoko, has released a statement claiming the authenticity of circulating medical reports concerning his wife, actress Regina Daniels, which allege substance abuse.

The statement posted on the Senator’s Instagram page on Saturday, and signed by his Communication Team lead, was to address the controversy that erupted after one of the implicated hospitals previously denied issuing the document.

Serenity Royale Hospital in Abuja denied an alleged medical report claiming that actress Daniels has been battling severe substance abuse.

The viral report, signed by the hospital’s Managing Director and Head of Clinical Services, Adekunle Adesina, purportedly stated that Daniels was diagnosed with a substance use disorder and placed on a home-based detox programme starting September 24, 2025.

However, the statement shared by Nwoko on Saturday claimed that the medical reports are “genuine” and explained the position of the hospital.

Tension erupted in Abuja on Tuesday as armed soldiers barred FCT Minister Nyesom Wike and his entourage from gaining access to a disputed land in Gaduwa.

Sylva is wanted in connection with an alleged case of conspiracy and dishonest conversion of $14,859,257( Fourteen Million, Eight Hundred and Fifty Nine Thousand, Two Hundred and Fifty Seven United States Dollars), being part of funds injected by the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board( NCDMB) into Atlantic International Refinery and Petrochemical Limited for the construction of a Refinery.

The Commission, on November 6, 2025 secured a warrant for the arrest of the former Minister at a Federal High Court sitting in Lagos.
