The CEO Cambridge Analytica has been suspended after he was record on video admitting to have bought over 10 million data of Facebook users in other to use such information to influence the last American election.The company admitted to have also influenced the last election in Kenya.

They get your information through third party (when you accept other applications to use your information from Facebook). These apps do not only get your information but illegally access the information of your friends and relatives who are your "friends" on Facebook.

If they can use your information to influence elections illegally what assurance do we have that our data are safe from being used by evil people (Internet fraudsters, assassins, political enemies, business competitors etc).if you cannot protect your data in the public domain, you can control what you share online atleast.
