Travel / Re: 10 People Who Survived The Impossible. by OLAMIND1(m): 8:22pm On Aug 31, 2014
Pronmix: 10.
Mauro Prosperi: Survived 9 days in the Sahara Desert.

Prosperi, a keen endurance runner, took part in the
1994 Marathon des Sables (Marathon of the Sands) in
Morocco. Part way through the 6-day 233 kilometre
event a sandstorm caused Prosperi to lose his way. He
ended up disoriented and ran in the wrong direction,
ultimately running several hundred kilometres into
Algeria. After 36 hours he ran out of food and water.
He survived by drinking his own urine and eating bats
resident in an abandoned mosque and the occasional
snake found in the desert.
Not wishing to die a long drawn out death, Prosperi
attempted to commit suicide in the mosque by slitting
his wrists with a pen knife he had with him. The
attempt failed - lack of water had caused Prosperi's
blood to thicken and clotted the wound before he
died.
After nine days alone in the desert he was found by a
nomadic family and taken to an Algerian military camp
and from there to a hospital. He was 186 miles off
route, and reportedly had lost between 30 and 40
pounds (18 kg) in body weight.
Failed suicide attempt? How frustrating...

Nairaland / General / EBOLA Panic: How Has It Affected Your Business? by OLAMIND1(m): 9:37am On Aug 28, 2014
Just the thought of how fast ebola kills, is enough to make people stop doing business as virtually all businesses require some level of contacts. But then 'man must chop'. So, it's just so impracticable to halt transactions indefinitely but caution is to be taken while at it anyway. For some people, this period might just be the right time to make money, for others it might just be that unwanted downturn again.
So, in the past couple of days, how has it affected your business?

Since it's a construction company, the opposite of RED will be WHITE.
Construction workers use either WHITE and BLACK or RED and WHITE for road blocks, diversions etc.

Jokes Etc / Dumbest Rewards Ever Given To You For Running Errands As Kids by OLAMIND1(m): 10:40pm On Aug 14, 2014
As kids, we get compelled to run errands for grown ups, put special efforts towards achieving academic excellence or accomplishing a special task(which may appear extremely boring/tiring for grown ups). Some of these activities/tasks often come with incentives. Hence, we childishly 'sweat it out' grin in order to meet up with their demands and claim our rewards afterward.

Several years ago, the eldest of my brothers rewarded me with 5 spaghetti sticks for doing his laundry. As at then, it felt so special in my tiny hands that I had to go all around town showing them to my friends grin spaghetti was newly introduced to the market then anyway)

so, I'll like to ask, what is the dumbest reward ever given to you as a kid or that you'v ever given to a kid for accomplishing a task?
Let the fun begin! gringringrin
