I can't laugh o. I received the exact call this morning about 30 minutes ago with the same description, a former project supervisor who has been posted to PH and that I should call the HR person at this same address number 5/7 Kofo abayomi Department of petroleum resources. Apparently they haven't been caught that's why they are still trying this scanning format

Me I allowed him use his credit o, gave me the HR's contact himself and told me to call her and then go to the office that it's an internal recruitment .

His name is even on true caller cos I tried verifying cos I was confused because I am very sure I don't know him though he had just a bit of information.

Sincerely i think you are right, its the SOP but i stand to be corrected. This exact statement is the how it was written in my Note. And honestly after joining this thread i can say my SOP was wack.

We pray we will get it right this time and get all the help and advice we can.

Great guru’s,
My Note is out, I sincerely need input on how to tackle the reasons for refusal by the VO. I am gainfully employed and have another business which is managed by my spouse. tuition fee is 30kCAD and i have 3times the balance, no bulk payment. I think the major issue here is my SOP(my view) and will need help.

‘’taking applicants plan of studies into account, the applicant does not appear to be sufficiently well established that the proposed studies would be reasonable expense. The applicant’s plan of studies appear vague and poorly documented. According to applicant’s current and future employment prospect, I have accorded less weight to their employment ties to the r country’.

Ok, then you wouldn't be needing it , just ensure the reference letter is on the official letterhead, signed and sealed then sent to your school.

I wish you all the best in the process.

It is for school.
Travel / Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 16 by olaola17: 5:32pm On Jul 24, 2019
The original copy wouldn't be given back to you, it becomes the property of the school, its just like submitting an official transcript directly from school.

From my understanding, this advice to let your lecturers write a reference letter on the school letterhead, sealed and sent is because you mentioned that they do not use email well otherwise the reference letter would have been done via their official email.

Or if i may ask what exactly do you need the reference letter for, shey it's for the school and not for personal or employment use.

NwanyiOkpa:

You mean i should mail the original hard copy? Will they give it back to me?

All the best dear, we sure do miss you here.
sillysassysally:
Hi Everyone,

I want to start by sincerely apologizing for going MIA since I got here. Life happened so fast and it didn't help that I didn't have a laptop. I have only just started settling down after all the hassle.

Landing gist...
It was pretty straightforward and didn't take time. The only question I remember the border official asking me was which school I was going to and what program. Then, of course, I was asked to show my correspondence letter and CAQ.

Canada...
I am currently attending McGill University so I'm quite comfortable speaking about Montreal.
1. French everywhere! I was so surprised - even my youtube ads changed to french! Better to start learning french to optimize your experience but if you don't speak French, it's still fine because most people are bilingual.
2. Beautiful city... people say its the best city to jaiye in Canada because things are always happening! I think last week was about Real Madrid (they are in Canada for a tour), then the week before that was jazz festival week... Needless to say, its a really fun city!

Myths people have about Canada
1. People tend to believe that once they leave Naija, they'll begin to live their best lives... It's not really true - especially if you don't have money. Since I got here, I've actually battled depression because my school work is so tedious, i don't even think I'll be able to work part-time to cover my living expenses. If you are doing a one-year program, it's possible that your schedule would be as rigorous because for most masters in Canada, its usually two years so you can imagine the "rushing" they do for one-year programs. So with no time to work, and with steady expenses, you can imagine the stress I've been going through just merely thinking about my situation. Here's my advice to those planning to come to Canada, if you cannot afford living expenses and you plan to work part-time to cover your living costs, please do a two-year program. That way, you'll have more time to spare to work and it'll be reasonable for you to work and still have enough time to commit to your academics.
2. Taxes here in Montreal are a freaking 15%! I bought my laptop and paid taxes of $114! Needless to say, buy your laptop before coming.

Things i'm grateful i did before coming here
1. I'm grateful I packed garri, indomie, etc because when you come here, expenses and bills would hit you like a hurricane - especially in the first few weeks where you have to start paying for a phone plan, rent, bus pass, feeding, etc. Im grateful for the many things i didn't have to buy because i already brought them from Nigeria - I even carried toothpaste, cream, perfume, etc. Once you come here, you'll have a lot of expenses to make that you'd be super grateful if you already have some little things sorted out.

I'm happy to answer any questions anyone has for me. smiley

Goodluck to all TRV hopefuls, University admission hopefuls and GRE/GMAT hopefuls

Amen thanks for your suggestions.

I did and online application and i do not have a travel history as well.

Well i didn't quite write my SOP well sincerely after reading threads since April, but there is a link between sociology and public administration provided i can state it as there is a social aspect of it which i didn't do as my sister just said we just just keep it simple which i think was a bad idea. In fact i didn't make any link sef but there is so i will do justice to that.

Thank you for the account funding too i will look into the necessary things as adviced. And if i need to understand the logic well behind the SOP & LOE am coming for you grin.

God bless you!

Obehi44:

Sorry about the refusal. Now this had been my stand concerning GCMS note: it can not be far from the generic reasons as your case clearly shows here. I read it over and over again and I was still seeing the both as same but in different English construction.

Anyway, to my little advice or suggestion,
1. Third party is a no no for me though some have used it and got approved. But thank God you are correcting that now by using your dad. Please if you haven't paid your skol fees even if it's for a term, kindly increase either Your Own account(2.5m) to at least 4m or more or your Dads own to 10m or more. But I prefer Your Own because the VO this days tends to pay more focus on your own.
2. I can't see your passport or your LOE/SOP but I believe that is where the issue of travel history is. Look well and rearrange that.
3. I will say you shot yourself on the leg by having a BSc in Sociology and now going to study admin. I also sure according to what the VO wrote that you were unable to convince him as regards this. And that was what brought about the "purpose of visit" and he went on the explain in the GCMS note that a) poorly documented and b) the expense does not worth it. What you need to do here is a) that Admin program I am not okay with, get another one if possible. b) to write a good SOP/LOE that will link or explain the link of your previous degree + current job + the program you are going for in Canada.
4. Get at least one or more assets in your name apart from that of your dad.
Now I have never typed these long here, so I can't say more even though I wish to. But the power of your app is in your LOE/SOP. Abeg no ask me to help, I no good but I understand the logic as I don learn from the gurus in the house.
#ItWillEndInPraise.

Wow! Thank you so much for your candid advice.
I will read more on the necessary relevant document and see how best i can work on the SOAs .
I really do appreciate it. Thanks @JustMellow.

JustMellow:

In brief, the concerns raised by the VO isn't too much and can be tackled. The concerns points majorly to your study plan and level of establishment in Nigeria. This involves your economic capacity, future plans, economic prospect of the intended course even to your hometies from an economic viewpoint. In your study plan, try to show correlation between Administrative personal and Sociology, connect them and hint on the job/economic prospect and future plans in both or either field.

Showing documents that relates to a certain situation of your application is one thing and connecting these documents in your study plan to build on a proper convincing is another thing.

The closing balance of your father isn't bad at all though it also depends on his family compilation/dependents, but if he can up it to 10m or above, then good. Also, your closing balance of 2.5m isn't bad as well, just include your BS. Irrespective of who your sponsor is, if you can get your first semester tuition fees paid outside the 8m of your father, more better.

Make sure you include any relevant documents that shows his source of funds and proof of funds likewise yours i.e. employment letters, CAC, etc. You can search through the forum for more supporting documents relevant to your case.

Good luck!

Good afternoon house and i really want to say thank you to everyone on this platform, the experienced i have gained so far even an agent may not have half of it.

So finally my GCMS note is out and please i would need advice on how best to tackle it and what we feel the VO had in mind.

Grounds for refusal :
Thank you for your interest in visiting Canada. After careful review of your temporary resident visa application and supporting documentation, I have determined that your application does not meet the requirements of the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act (IRPA) and Immigration and Refugee Protection Regulations (IRPR). I am refusing your application on the following grounds:

• I am not satisfied that you will leave Canada at the end of your stay, as stipulated in subsection 216(1) of the IRPR, based on your travel history.

• I am not satisfied that you will leave Canada at the end of your stay, as stipulated in subsection 216(1) of the IRPR, based on the purpose of your visit.

• I am not satisfied that you will leave Canada at the end of your stay, as stipulated in subsection 216(1) of the IRPR, based on your personal assets and financial status.

What the GCMS note stated:

Taking the applicants plan of studies into account, the applicant does not appear to be sufficiently well established that the proposed studies would be a reasonable expense. The applicant's plan appears to be poorly documented. The applicants prior travel history is insufficient to count as a positive factor in my assessment. Weighing the factors in this application i am not satisfied that the applicant will depart canada at the end of the period authorized for their stay, for this reason i have refused this application.

Documents submitted:

Account statement of a 3rd party sponsor (An uncle that does not bear the same surname, he is a grandpa and no dependent in that sense but wasn't stated in my SOP) With a balance of $22,000 & 10,600 euros in his domiciliary account. Approximately CND46,778 and my total expenses was about CND42,000.

His CAC document, sponsorship letter from him and an Affidavit.

My letter of employment, leave form and introduction letter from my employer stating i will considered for an higher position when i return

A introduction letter from my church to show my commitment and leadership positions stating someone will stand in for me while away

A conditional admission letter ( to submit my original transcript) but now i have my unconditional letter

A landed property in my name (Though i think the document wasn't good enough as i purchased from a school and they are yet to give the necessary document, just a letter from them stating a purchase and transfer of ownership)

My course of study : Masters in public Administration

Current employment- Administrative personnel and this has been my line of employment over the years

Undergraduate course: Bsc. Sociology

SOP - which i sincerely must say was very poor. I submitted before joining the thread in first week of April 2019.

Kindly note i have written to the school to resume January 2020 since my admission is valid for the 1st 3 Semesters.

Question
1) My 3rd party sponsor account is no longer available has he used the money for business shortly after i submitted my application, wouldnt the VO be thinking that the documents as in the SOA am about submitting for re-application in-consistent?

2) I intend submitting a personal SOA of about 2.5m and using my dad as a sponsor with about 8m balance in his personal account. How much do you think its best he has in his account or can 8m fly?

3) I do feel that the VO was also had an hidden concerned with my financial status reading his first sentence and how best can i address the concerns the VO stated.

4) How best do i present the landed property or what documents can i attached to show it is genuine.

50 What other documents do i need to show for my re-application.

I am thinking of reapplying by 1st week in august using my july statement of account to resume January.

Please i would appreciate sincere feedbacks and i will be grateful if i get some help with my new SOP and LOE since its a re-application.

Thank you all in advice for your candid response. @Qudkom, JustMellow and others your input will be greatly appreciated.

I think you can actually work after you have registered as a student even if classes has not started. I have a friend who went since feb and has been working and just started classes this May. He couldn't meet up with the first resumption, but travelled and settled in since february.

Tlontin:

But you can’t work until school start I learnt and I also heard that going earlier( more than two month before resumption) isn’t a good idea. You might need to make your researc.

Well mine didn't clearly state study permit, it was thank you for your interest in a temporary resident permit and i applied for student permit. Maybe it's just a generic term since student visa is also temporary my thoughts.

Bracha:
It's a visiting visa. If it were a study permit, it'd have been plainly written. You'll see “Thank you for your interest in studying in Canada” instead of a visiting visa.

Pele, take heart and retry on your own.

Travel / Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 15 by olaola17: 6:05pm On May 20, 2019
Wow, well i think this is a new development or applies to departments and all, as i got a conditional admission letter at first in february for masters in Public Administration stating that i send in my official transcripts and certificate without asking for a deposit, after i sent in the documents i received my unconditional admission letter in April still with no request of any deposit.

If you are requested to do so, i advice you do just that since it is clearly stated in your admission letter and the VO might be wondering why you didn't do that.

My thought though.

johnsonlawson89:
This is what is in the offer letter @kcosam

Dear Johnson:

Congratulations! The International Enrolment Services Office is pleased to inform you that you have gained admission to the University of Regina. This letter is for submission for your study permit; please ensure to keep a copy for your records. International students on a study permit are required to pay a $500 tuition deposit upon acceptance of admission. Once payment is made, a receipt will be provided that can be included with your study permit application.

Same reasons as mine, just that current employment situation was garnished into my own.

1) Please did you apply as a married person?
2) What are the assets you declared in your name?
3) Did you tell them in your sop that you would be willing to supply additional document if required?

4) Are u gainfully employed?
5) Going for Bsc, Msc or Phd?
6) How does your background correlate with the program?

I want to know the similarity between us that caused refusal.

You should apply for GCMS asap.

1) I am single
2)yes declared an asset in my name
3)i didnt state directly that i am willing to supply additional documents if required
4)yes i am gainfully employed as an administrative personnel
5)going for Msc
6)i have always worked along administrative line and i intend going for public administration. Nothing about current employment was mentioned in the feedback i received.

Thank you for your interest in visiting Canada. After careful review of your temporary resident

Do i first request a GCMS note for further clarity and what else can i do because i am willing to re-apply. School resumes September 3rd. Please kindly advice what other documents do you need to proof that someone is your guardian and willing to support your education if you cannot get him to do an affidavit as he is an old man. Getting him through the stress is a bit pushy. I have a letter of sponsorship on his letterhead paper saying he is my guardian and willing to support, his bank statement and his business registration document.

Please kindly advise on my application process especially with the funding aspect and how to define a relationship for your sponsor who is a family friend.

Good afternoon everyone,

I am very new on this platform and i hope i am doing this correctly. I need help as regards my application. I have my acceptance letter from the University i applied to in Canada but i do not have enough funds personally to apply for the study permit. (Masters in Public administration and i currently work as an administrative assistant in a consulting firm)

Though i have a family friend who is willing to help but i do not know how best to state as his relationship when he is writing the sponsorship letter. Also another challenge is that he is having about 8m in his account and the cost for my school, living and flight expenses is about 12m for 2 years.
1)do i look for additional account to use as a co-sponsor?

2)would he need to provide his CAC document since he is using his personal account and not the business account.

Though for my tution i do not need to pay upfront as i pay per semester depending on the number of courses i register for.
3)Do i have to provide my own statement of account too as i do not have a sitting balance in it.
4)Or are there other means i can use to proof i have sufficient funds for my trip? Please kindly help me on it.

What i have at the moment is an introductory letter from my employer and a religious organisation where i volunteer from time to time, leave application letter, also also provided a deed of agreement for a landed property that i have.

Kindly help as i would really love to be guided before i put in the application. Hope to get all set before mid april incase i need additional account, otherwise i can do it in the space of 1 week.

Thank you so much guys as i await your sincere feedback.
