Australia almost scored again!! Nigeria not getting the grip again. |
dodobytes:The girls are not fit. Simple. Okon is a joke. |
Nigeria living dangerously. Aussie shot on target. |
Josephine Chukwunonye down injured, but back up and crowd applaud. |
First shot on goal, easily caught by Aussie keeper. |
As expected, the frontline is slow today. You cant play for so long on artificial pitch and expect to be fully fit. Okon olodo. |
Okobi just sold an Aussie player. She should be drafted to super eagles. Too good. |
Nigeria rampaging. Almost scored. |
Nigeria camped in Australia final third, so far no output. Ohale just wasted a throw in. |
Freekick wasted. Nigeria back on attack immediately. |
Almost through on goal, Oparanozie fell by the pitch. Good start and control by Nigeria. Winning all balls but Australia have a dangerous freekick. Just outside the box. |
Matfch on. Nigeria attacking early on. Australia no clue yet. 2 mins. |
Australia playing a 4-3-3, while Nigeria is playing a 4-4-2. Our midfield will have a field day like this. |
Now to Nigerian anthem..... |
Australian national anthem. The Nigerian gals were singing 'Who can battle with the lord? I say nobody....' as they came out of the tunnel. Game on. |
The ladies are wearing white today. If we dont win this match, Okon deserves to be stoned. |
This coach is risking burnout! These are ladies, even men are not so fit to play two straight matches in few days on artificial turf. I expected at least Esther Sunday started and Ordega used as a sub. We are burning out fast. These are not super humans. |
Please lets respect our ladies and keep this thread focussed on the super falcons. From the look of things, the girls are probably going to go further than the guys. If that happens, then they deserve alot more respect. BUT I am still very afraid of Edwin Okon and his self destruct button. |
In the prematch conference, Australian coach was asked if he can take risks against Nigeria. If Nigeria is leading, can the coach go attacking and play like 3 defenders? The coach replied...hahaha what a good idea! Play 3 at the back against Nigeria? Thats a joke! Seems people are respecting our attack lineup. The 4 Os are striking fear into opponents. *Oparanozie, Ordega, Oshoala and Okobi. They all scored against Sweden (Oparanozie own goal). |
CFCfan:That news conference can best be described as comedy half hour.. Also, I am having a feeling that Okon is too bullish. I fear for a tactical defeat. |
Looks like Australia is rocked with injuries. Their scorer, goalie, and some key players are injured. |
LordEmperoris1:Use google chrome as your browser. Then download HOLA as an add on for your chrome. With HOLA, you can tell your browser to browse from the UK, and thereby bypass UK's restrictions. Refresh your browser and you will be watching the live match. I particularly prefer BBC commentary to FOX's. The lesser of two evils. |
semid4lyfe you made valid points. Also correct that we had 4 defenders but the positioning was way off. If you watch Sweden's 3rd goal again, you will see that the defenders were nowhere to be found. On Zonal marking, I repeat, it is the solution. Else, we will continue to be poor at corners. You cannot man mark and sleep on the second ball. Either you run out and play the opponent offside (too technical for our gals) or you stick to your man (Ayinde vs Fisher was a mismatch). Solution will be to combine the 2. Put someone like Oshoala at the near post. She's tall and can attack the ball coming in and nod away. Put the shortest players around the edges, and have the central defenders and strikers man marking. |
How to beat Australia: 1. Keep Dede in goal. Most people dont know that Whyte is shyte! She is worse than Dede. 2. Bring in Njoku, drop Chukwunonye and move Ohale to partner Onome Ebi. This should have been done at halftime against Sweden. Its a no brainer. You cannot play 3 at the back and leave the flanks exposed like that. Ohale was doing too much and it backfired. 3. Keep the midfield as it is. Okobi, Ayinde and Nwabuoku really tried. They held the midfield well, though the 3 at the back somehow disrupted things. 4. Start Esther Sunday ahead of Ordega against Australia. Why? Because Australia will be out to attack us, and Esther Sunday's runs and dribbles will be key, with Njoku also pushing forward, Australia will be on the backfoot for most of the match. 5. Make substitutions!!!!! For heaven sake, this is artificial turf, the girls will cramp badly if they all play another 90 minutes. Dike, Ini, and even Nkwocha are all ripe to come in. 6. Zonal marking! I know the coach is naive and thus is adamant on man marking, even when height is not to our advantage. Watch Sweden's first goal and see how Fisher sold Ayinde to get a header. We simply cannot do man marking. Let the players have a zone to mark, so they can attack the ball before it gets to the opponent. This will be key against Wambach of USA when the match comes. 7. Players should try to get at the referee. Often times Nigeria gets bad refereeing because of bad perception, but yesterday, We had only 4 fouls all game, against 14 fouls of Sweden. This is even despite leniency of ref towards Swedes. They got no yellowcards. This must stop! Let our players call attention of refs where needed. 8. Relax and know that Australia cannot beat Nigeria. I mean if you do not lose against Sweden, and put in better performance, you will surely beat Australia |

I heard at least 2 falcons are nairalanders. So please tell Oshoala to stop that sexy celebration where she's holding her bosom. She can dance shoki or something else. |
Ologunjude:I think its a good thing. DSTV has been exploiting us for too long. Believe me, this forced me to dust up my antenna for the terrestial channels. |
Behold..Buhari's first test as a president. Allow impunity or arrest it as soon as you can? |
The coach did well, though I think he could have brought in Cecilia Nku to toughen things up in the midfield. Next game will be more fun. We wont concede 3 goals, but we will score more than 3. |
Bloody remove Ordega and put Esther Sunday NOW!!! |
Danycrusoe:Cameroun will do better too. I agree as well, we've been naive in the past. It will take a few years before CIV can catch up. |
Game day people. I know for sure that the falcons wont disappoint. Theyve not disappointed in a long long time. Swedish coach is known to be very conservative, like Lars Lagerback then. They will defend well till they can nick a goal, and then go defensive again. No hail mary skills or dribbles should be expected from the Swedes. |
From the last 10 days, I can predict Buhari's wardrobe. Probably 4 clothes and 2 shoes, 2 palm slippers. This black senegalese is the same he wore to London. Humility +++ |
